Staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and the breakfast very tasty. Altogether a very pleasant stay, no pretentions just a good cosy feel to the place.
The car park seems to be used by everyone, so it can be a trial to park if you return mid evening.
A very warm welcome. Lovely traditional country inn on the village green. Very comfortable room and very peaceful. Excellent breakfast. 15 minutes walk into Hythe (be aware of a steep hill back again though).
Originally we chose the Castle as it is one of the few hotels in Hythe that accepts pets and has good parking. The staff are very friendly and our breakfasts were excellent. Our room, with four poster bed, was enormous with a view across the village green. Although this is a proper village pup on a fairly busy (at times) road there was no noise and we slept very well.
Whilst everywhere is clean the rooms, and corridors leading to them, need refurbishing.
Lovely village setting, lovely character pub with nice gardens. Food was good and staff were pleasant and helpful
Rooms desperately need re-decorating, we had 2 rooms, both had stained carpets and furnishings, they also smelt a little mouldy
Location was good, we stayed for a couple of nights as we were going to a wedding nearby, it served the purpose but I wouldn't book it for a weekend away. Staff were friendly. Breakfast included.
Room was tiny, the bed was only 3/4. Everything seemed grubby and like it needed a good clean eg got a drink from the bar and glass was covered in lipstick, glasses and cutlery at breakfast were not clean, hallway carpets were filthy, shower looked dirty.
Location on a village green. Comfortable bed
Hotel was very run down and needs to be refurbished urgently. Generally very untidy, things stored in the passage ways, mattresses under beds, unsightly.
Friendly staff and welcome Food good. Beds comfy. Lovely location.
Dubious smells in corridor areas upstairs.
Good breakfast , we ate there in the evening also, good choice menu good value for money . In easy reach ferry and train . Nice area
Room was clean but décor a little tired
Everything, staff, food excellent, great place to stay.
liked the village and really enjoyed everything
there was nothing i didnt like
Very homely and relaxing, really enjoyed our weekend.
When I arrived I was asked what time I would like breakfast and booked for 9 am. When I arrived down the next morning at that time the receptionist was very embarrassed to tell me the restaurant manager had closed the restaurant and gone home. The rest of the staff were very unhappy about the situation and apologised profusely. Never had anything like that before in many years of staying in hotels
Damp patches in corners of room. Dated plumbing system meant warning signs on toilet. No bath in family room. Could not put our daughter in shower.
Good for a one night stopover before the euro tunnel. Staff lovely Food fine. Price fine.
Room very tired. Carpet worn and stained. Needs updating.
Food good and staff very helpful
Bit tatty around the edges
provided with pack up because we weren't having breakfast because of tunnel crossing. 3 dogs only £10. fantastic staff
The pub, it's restaurant and the location very convenient for the Channel Tunnel and nice places to visit in Kent.
We like everything.
Good meals, friendly staff.
Not possible to walk into town, but otherwise location was good.
Friendly staff, tea/coffee making facilities in room, good pub food in restaurant & excellent cooked breakfast. A typical english village pub, with rooms above.
Near to Eurotunnel and friendly staff.
Small uncomfortable bed and room in need of a good makeover.
Lovely village, just off main route Dover. Very friendly. Rooms are simply set up with everything you need. Quiet. Good food.
Very friendly and helpful. nice room a little old fashioned the Pies were lovely, nice breakfast would use again definitely
The staff were all very friendly and willing to help with any requests. We stayed for three nights and eat dinner each everning. The food was good value with a large selection on the menu.
The rooms and bathrooms were large for a century old hotel but the furnishing needed to be updated and carpets needed cleaning.
Not a hotel, a pub with poor pub food ,noisy rooms over kitchen
The food particularly and the fact that it is dog friendly. Bedding clean, towels clean, bathroom clean. We have stayed here several times and would do again.
The whole place is now really overdue a good makeover, deep clean and refurbishment.
