The whole ambiance, staff, quality of dinner(s) and not to forget the breakfast was absolutely top.
The hotel ambience was lovely warm and cosy. Jade our waitress at dinner and breakfast made out stay a pleasure. The views from the bedroom were stunning and the walk across the field to Chatsworth exhilarating.
We were in a group of friends enjoying a Christmas reunion and were disappointed at Stuart the maitre d who tried to rush us into dinner and furthermore after dinner closed the bar before we and other residents were ready to retire. We stay at hotels of this level because we expect a fantastic customer experience!!
Receptionist was lovely
Maitre d was rude took wine order but didn't give us the option of have a glass in the longe area yet she did for another couple. We felt for a 4/5 star hotel that they should come and top up our wine, again they did for others. Maybe if they had to impress for the service charge, they would earn it. The carpet in the dinning room was disgusting it needs a good clean or replace it.
Proximity to Chatsworth. Clean, friendly, convenient, nice rooms. Restaurant was delicious.
The staff were very attentive and friendly. The room was lovely, good views, wifi, & spacious. The bathroom was particularly good and the "Temple Spa" toiletries very luxurious. Every need catered for, including an excellent tea/coffee tray & fresh milk in the fridge.
The bed was a little too soft for our liking. We stayed as a treat for my husbands birthday & would have been more than happy to pay £18 each for breakfast and would probably stayed in the hotel for dinner. The reason we didn't is because of the MANDATORY 5% service charge which would have added more than £30 to our bill. We would have gladly paid a service charge because the service was excellent but feel it should have been discretionary. The hotel management always say that the mandatory charge is made clear when booking, as it is, we were fully aware of it & booked anyway, however we went with no intention of eating any meals in the hotel. Dinner at Il Lupo just over the road was excellent.
Beatituful hotel and setting. Bar and restaurant staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Room we were in was recently converted and was very pretty with stunning views!
Pre authorisation was taken from card which was inconvenient and not clearly communicated in advance. Receptionists on both days weren't very friendly. Restaurant was very expensive and small portions.
Views, the garden room, one of the reception managers (Poppy) was very helpful and charming.Easy access to Chatsworth.
Grubby bedroom carpets, uncomfortable pillows. Something in our bedroom gave my wife allergic asthma. We had to leave.Dining room too crowded and old fashioned, mismatched cutlery, soggy toast because no toast rack.Wholemeal bread offered but only granary available. One of the waiting staff was extremely irritating.
The warm and comfy aisphere. The view from our room.
There was nothing that I can think of that was negative or did not come up to our expectations. The only comment I would make is the breakfast price and then an additional service charge. A bit over the top. Having said that, an over all excellent stay. Thank you.
Location and furnishings are excellent and the dining staff are very efficient and pleasant.
Only one tablet of soap in the bathroom and only one bathrobe on the first night illustrated a surprising absence of attention to detail. We were also charged for two cooked breakfasts when only one was consumed.
Lovely location, helpful and friendly staff, room comfortable and clean. Really enjoyed are stay
Breakfast expensive in the hotel, we chose the café 100 yards down the road.
Fantastic but of luxury. Will definately return
Everything. I would use it again and again. I just wish all hotels were this standard. The food was really good, mostly locally sourced and imaginatively cooked.
Loved the location and village of Baslow, beautifully kept, and the walk across the fields to Chatsworth House, was " out of this world" as was the whole property. Well worth the visit, thank you.
The staff were excellent, very caring and the food was superb. It was my birthday and when I mentioned this a box of chocolates came to the room. This was much appreciated. Also, the views of the estate wereabsolutely lovely.
The bathroom floor was rather cold. I'm afraid that I have become used to underfloor heating.
The first thing you notice as you drive in is the amazing setting and stunning views followed by a friendly welcome in the attractive reception area and felt at home immediately. The public rooms were luxurious, beautifully designed but cosy, with style and quality stamped all over them. Our beautiful, comfortable bedroom had everything we needed and a stylish bathroom which shone, everything was utterly spotless. Had a lovely stay but sadly very brief. Definitely worth a visit.
Having enjoyed breakfast in the dining room the following morning, we wished we had eaten in there rather that the conservatory the night before.
Good for a weekend visit. Friendly staff Bedroom well appointed except pillows. Bathroom well appointed and very clean, shower powerful flow Very well placed to walk into Chatsworth Park Good breakfast
Bedroom too warm (turned off radiator and opened window - still too warm) Underfloor heating in bathroom too hot (turned off when found switch!) Pillows leaden Bright lights from car park kept me awake Loud humming noise probably from another bathroom fan running all first night. Dining a bit like Masterchef but disappointing flavours.
LOCATION, COMFORTABLE BEDS, FRIENDLY STAFF. BREAKFAST WAS SERVED LATE
ONLY STAYED ONE NIGHT SO NOTHING REALLY TO DISLIKE.
Quality of service. An excellent meal in the Galllery Restaurant (but we were the only people eating there - we wonered why). An excellent 3 course dinner about £45 a head and well worth it.
Nothing much comes to mind.
Very nice hotel, beautiful room, clean, comfortable and excellent food on the menu. Very close to Chatsworth House where we visited for the day and thoroughly enjoyed our stay for our Wedding Anniversary. I would recommend and will return.
The staff made a good hotel Excellent . We particularly enjoyed the challenge of the evening climb into bed ! We loved the views, the peace and the easy parking, thecomfortable lounge and bar and the relaxed atmosphere in the Garden Room. Thankyou
A good location with Chatsworth House nearby. Excellent country style with old fashioned values - just like England used to be 50 years ago and well before Tony Blair/Gordon Brown et al messed this country up!
he haddock with poached egg on toast. The chef hadn't allowed the water to run off the egg and the haddock before he put them on the toast, consequently the toast was wet and soggy! But if thats the only thing I didn't like, then the whole experience must have been pretty good.
Setting, comfort and cleanliness
Quiet comfort in beautiful, quiet surroundings with mainly helpful, pleasant staff. The maître was excellent, twice finding tables in the garden restaurant when another waiter claimed it was fully booked.
Reservation system for both restaurants was not made very clear. Shower very good but difficult to operate. Noisy floorboards in room above were disturbing especially with heavy-footed guests.
