Cavendish Hotel  

It is beautifully furnished and in a prime location with fine views across the Chatsworth Park.

My Booking.com booking details stated that the cost of breakfast would be £9.70 per person per night but we were charged £18.90 plus vat per person per night. I wish to complain about this and claim a refund.

The room was delightful, stylish and with individual antique details. Big fluffy bathrobes. Nice view over the park and garden. We ate in the 'fine dining' room where the food and service were excellent. The lobby and lounge were comfortable and welcoming, the feeling more like staying in someone's rather grand country house than an hotel.

Absolutely nothing to dislike ! It's a splendid place. Only two (very minor) suggestions for improvement. Better placed socket for hairdryer, near a well-lit mirror. The toiletries lacked a bath oil or liquid. There was bodywash but nothing to put in the bath for a luxurious soak

Staff very helpful. Young man behind the bar was extremely friendly and helpful. Bed very comfy with a lovely view!

We have stayed at the Cavendish on a number of occasions, generally in December for the "Escape on Sunday". It is very comfortable and relaxing but definitely for adults and not for kids. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The food is of a high standard and the breakfast is tasty, filling and relaxing. A great way to spend some downtime. Recommended.

I really enjoyed the excellent service and friendly hospitality. the delicious menu and extremley comfortable and spacious rooms. a touch of luxury round every corner. I would reccommend the cavendish hotel strongly to those wishing to escape and relax in beautiful surroundings.

A gem on our doorstep that we had overlooked for a long time for trips further afield. So wish we had not, a wonderful way to unwind for us after a hectic Xmas.

An immaculate hotel with excellent cuisine, courteous and well trained staff. It is well furnished with plenty of seating areas in the public rooms.Highly recommended.

we chose to eat in the Garden Room, which is an unheated conservatory. The only heat supplied was a small electric heater. Had we been infromed of this we would have used the restuarant in the sub-zero ambient temperatures. we inagine that the Garden Room gets very hot in summer.

We loved the hotel and its setting. Our room was a standard room but was really nice with dual aspect windows. We only stayed one night but found it was a very intimate hotel and it takes you back as you walk in as you are not sure where reception is placed. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. We did use Room service and that was good food but would have been better if the food all had come together.

We found to be very honest without trying to be picky that some staff did not seem too switched on. It took awhile to get someone to serve us afternoon tea, then we had delays with our meal in the room. Breakfast was no better. We did intend on having a cooked breakfast but no one asked us if we wanted one. We had been served with our drinks and then forgotten.I did mention it to a manager and he was kind enough not to charge us for Breakfast. We would stay here again with no problems but may upgrade to a larger room for a longer stay.

We have never stayed in a hotel where the staff were so friendly and helpful. The comfort of the room boundred on luxury. The food served at all meals was simply heavenly.

Faultless

You quoted a rate of £198 for two nights and then breakfast on top. I had no problem with this except that at £35 per couple for breakfast the price went from reasonable to expensive and I was not reveal lu made aware that breakfast would be a third of the cost of the hotel. Also the dinner was ridiculous - nouveau cuisine gone mad! Massively overpriced and poor quality
