Very nice hotel, beautiful room, clean, comfortable and excellent food on the menu. Very close to Chatsworth House where we visited for the day and thoroughly enjoyed our stay for our Wedding Anniversary. I would recommend and will return.
The staff made a good hotel Excellent . We particularly enjoyed the challenge of the evening climb into bed ! We loved the views, the peace and the easy parking, thecomfortable lounge and bar and the relaxed atmosphere in the Garden Room. Thankyou
Setting, comfort and cleanliness
Quiet comfort in beautiful, quiet surroundings with mainly helpful, pleasant staff. The maître was excellent, twice finding tables in the garden restaurant when another waiter claimed it was fully booked.
Reservation system for both restaurants was not made very clear. Shower very good but difficult to operate. Noisy floorboards in room above were disturbing especially with heavy-footed guests.
Location, staff, room, and food.
No air con
Being able to walk to Chatsworth Excellent breakfast Interesting restaurant menu Friendly staff Lovely views from bedroom Good soap Large bedroom with sofa and coffee table Lots of plugs
Shower was very stiff to turn on in both rooms - 11 and 13 No magnifying make up mirror
Superb location Very friendly staff except for one at breakfast
Room was very hot. A fan was provided but needed air con. My order for a cooked breakfast was forgotten. Took half an hour to get it & then no apology.
Beautiful setting and lovely quiet room. Very relaxing.
Room needed dusting in some areas. A swimming pool and sauna would have been nice.
That the second receptionist took the trouble to replace a broken DVD player herself
We had asked, through Booking.com, for dinner at 1930. Booking confirmed that the message had been passed but cautioned about whether it would be acted upon. It wasn't! Our repeat visit was on the strength of a previous excellent meal. Earliest available dinner table 2100! We went elsewhere and had a lovely meal.
Friendly, professional staff, a glorious setting and a lovely room with a beautiful view.
Very pleasant staff and cosy surroundings. The views of course speak for themselves.
Bit pricey and didn't realise breakfast wasn't included. That was expensive at £33 for two people.
Clean comfortable and an excellent location.
Breakfast was extra on top of an already expensive room
Comfortable room Excellent food Lovely location
Nothing to dislike
Food and drinks were excellent. It can be warm in summer as there is no air-conditioning!
The view across the grounds of Chatsworth from bedroom and restaurant. Extremely comfortable room with antique 4-poster bed.
Service at dinner very slow and food not good- expensive for what it was and menu with strange combinations of ingredients.
All staff were very friendly, polite and helpful, made you feel individual and important. The facilities were excellent, the views were outstanding! A thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing experience - looking forward to our next visit.
There were no dislikes
The food was delicious. The room gorgeous and the setting excellent Wish we could have stayed longer. We would definitely stay at the Cavendish again
At breakfast we were shown to a table with only one chair by the waitress. My husband had to move one across from the table next to ours amd we hadn't any napkins. The previous evening the same waitress wanted to take our bottle of wine and put in the refrigerator and became quite insistent when I told her we would like a little more as we had only had one glass each In the end feeling a little embarrassed we left the wine In the cooler and went into the lounge where we were served coffee by a different waitress. We think there was a communication problem here
Staff were very good, but seemed to be understaffed and somewhat stressed at breakfast. Very comfortable bed and room. Breakfast buffet was good.
Shower temperature wasn't easy to control and handset and pipes got dangerously hot to touch. Room felt cramped. Dinner seemed overpriced for quality. Advantage of magnifying mirror in bathroom was lost as it was not adjustable for 5'4" woman.
Quiet, great views, lovely walk from the hotel into the chatsworth estate, loads of old pictures throughout the hotel, real sense of history.
Room not large enough for the money. Buffet breakfast didn't offer enough choice- poor selection of fruit ( no berries even in strawberry season- just melon, pineapple and grapefruit)
A great experience all round in a lovely location. Dinner superb. Service excellent.
5% service charge should be included in the room price. Breakfast a little expensive.
Having stayed at this hotel frequently over the past 10 years ...... I can only say it is my favourite hotel of its type. the recent refurbishments have brought up the overall standard to the luxury it has in the past advertised. My room was extremely comfortable and delightful to be in.
Nothing to report here. The standard has improved considerably.
Lovely location within walking distance of Chatsworth House. Excellent dining experience. Relaxed environment with breakfast served until midday
The rooms were very comfortable
Some of the staff in the dining room do not remember what one has asked them to bring
The view and location are superb. Hotel very comfortable and generally nice staff.
The food is overpriced and very mediocre. Breakfast buffet a joke. Go to Chatsworth Farm store nearby for a fabulous and much cheaper breakfast!
This is a luxury hotel and deserves its 4 start rating. The hotel and rooms are superb and the is spotlessly clean. The food is great in both of the restaurants and the service is second to none.
