Staff were extremely helpful, very pleasant (especially the Manager/gentleman on reception). All queries and requests were dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Squeaking floorboards overhead. Decorating/touch-up Paintwork needed in corridors and room to bring up-to-date.

Deep leather chairs and armchairs, dark wooden coffee tables and close to the bar. This was the ideal place to relax after a long drive during the Friday night rush hour. My room (37) had a high standard of decoration with the bathroom fittings all looking to be brand new. We had a very pleasant evening meal in quite a small, but still very nice dining room and breakfast was the same high standard.

Noise from other guests. This is always a nuisance and The Cedars is no different but, that's the fault of inconsiderate guests' rather than the hotel. So, really, there's nothing to complain about the hotel itself!

Location and the restaurant food which was excellent although we had to wait a long while for it but it was well worth it.

Speed of service in restaurant. The rooms could do with so r maintenance and the single room we booked had no storage space in it

Location was great - quiet enough and not too far from Loughborough

NO wifi - OK it worked on the staff Apple iphone (IOS) but would NOT work on my Galaxy S4 or S5 or my Tesco Hudl Tablet. They said they would try reset but never did. suspect it is filtered by MAC address or needs channel changing. Noisiest room in hotel (room 10) right above kitchen - Fans forever blowing. No Hot water most of time - when there was - the pressure was too low to have a shower. The Lager was tasting of cleaning fluid. Cider seemed OK. Breakfast closes at 9.30am .. bit early for my liking

View of railway from windows Friendly and efficient staff

Room (12b) did not look like it had been cleaned in a while and housed a collection of large moths. The pillows looked very old and well used. The furniture was battered and old. The bathroom was in need of decorating and the shower was very weak.

The reception area, bar area and restaurant were great. It allowed us to have a nice meal and a drink without having to go out.

Our room was located far away. As we were overseas travellers it was a long way to lug all our luggage up and down stairs.

Welcome on arrival, 24 hour service, friendly and comfortable. Great breakfast! When first arrived, the train was parked up at the bottom of the garden, which was a great feature, passed by slowly too.

    nothing to not like really?

Location ideal. Staff were very efficient and friendly. Couches in lounge area were comfortable with great T V reception. No night noises.

The decor throughout was shabby and the mattress on the single bed could do with being replaced. The shower over the rear of the bath had a mind of its own regarding hot and cold setting.

Car park. Professional staff at reception. Wireless. And plugs near bedside.

Shower curtain? I did not use it... some how i did not understand how unfolds. But all very clean in bathroom. Carpet in room may need deep cleaning some time soon! I am very picky for that.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was tasty and well cooked - particular favourite was the salmon with spinach and sweet potato. The atmosphere was very homely and welcoming.

The decor was a bit dated and looked in need of some TLC. The continental breakfast choice was a little scanty and the bread rolls not always fresh. The shower in my room was very stiff and hard to turn on/off.

This hotel is very handy if you're visiting the Great Central Railway. It offers free WiFI, the rooms may be dated but clean and the bed was comfortable.

I probably shouldn’t be telling you this………..but……………..yesterday, at roughly 5pm I discovered what can only be described as a secret government project. Just think to yourself, have you ever wanted to travel back to a time when Madonna had pointy boobs, dancing in neon colours was all the rage and Michael Jackson was black? Well, without a flux capacitor and a million jigga watts this was never going to be possible……………….until now. I thought I was making my way to a hotel in Loughborough for the night but what I discovered was actually a portal in time, a black hole, something I can’t explain. The portal must be the entrance, as outside there are modern cars and such, but as soon as you walk through the doors to the main reception you are transported back roughly 30 years!!!!! I nervously tell the gentleman on reception I have booked in for the night and he hands me a big chunky plastic key ring with a long metal thing on it. I ask him what this is for, is it a strange looking “futuristic fork”? “No” he says, “this is your rooms key!” As I walk past the faded leather sofas, the wooden bar that looks like it was built from scrap wood in a garage and up the creaky stairs, I come to my room, room 2! Room 2 shouldn’t be called room 2, room 2 should be called closet 2, no room to swing a cat 2, look I can touch both sides of the room and I’m not even at full stretch 2! Well fingers crossed I can at least hope it is clean. Hope………..a word I should have abandoned outside before entering the portal. The Vintage look cream paint (made vintage looking by all the scuff marks and peeling) was at least broken up by, what I can only hope was, coffee stains near the TV. It had a TV I hear you say, yes it did, not that it worked! Well at least it had a bed, of sorts.

Quiet location. Pleasant staff. Fast enough wifi. Clean. Off-street parking. Beds are very firm.

Tired rooms in need of modernisation. Limited or broken shelves and hanging facilities in bathroom. Expensive breakfast unless you want an all-you-can-eat deal. If you just want a piece of toast and a cuppa, £8.00 is too expensive. If you can book well in advance, Premier Inn in Quorn might give you a better deal. Firm beds might be uncomfortable for some.
