Bathroom looked as though it had recently been refurbished and while small was very clean. This hotel was had good reviews, though now I have stayed I am not sure as to why. The receptionist was uninterested on our arrival and refused to give a receipt for the payment she had taken until check out - hotel policy I was told. The room itself was basic, could do with new carpeting and less in the way of polyester foot covers but the bathroom looked as though it had recently been refurbished and while small was very clean. The biggest issue with the hotel it seems is sound proofing. I was in room 37 and the room above me had floor boards to squeaky I was unable to get to sleep until the occupant in the room above went to bed. Not helped by the fact the occupant seemed to be very heavy on their feet. The next morning at 5.20 am, the occupant of room 36 awoke and began their morning ablutions and I heard every single one from the phlegmy cough to the use of the bathroom. The breakfast in the morning was not too bad as I had a cooked breakfast but the offerings for a continental breakfast was quite poor.

The location of the hotel was good. The food was very good. It was easy to park. The staff were very pleasent. There were no draws in the bedroom. As is often the case there was little shelf space in the bathroom. The pillows were very hard. There seemed to be only one set of keys for the room. On the first day I took these keys out with me and the staff were unable to service the room until I returned. Was there no pass key? It turned out the resturant was closed on the sunday evening. I was not told about this until I tried to book a table that evening. The lady at reception, it seems, had only just been told herself.

There was a mixup with the booking and the receptionist was most helpful in sorting it out. Though it was not what I expected and the building was a little shabby it was spotlessly clean and and plenty of hot water and toiletries

The classical design of the reception area and the bed. The location being close to Loughborough University. The water tap of the bathtub is hard to control resulting in the water being either too cold or two hot. The bath tub seems to be leaking in some part, resulting in wet floor. Having to lift my luggage up the stairs and down the stair to go to my room in the ground floor.

Warm (after the heating comes on at 6pm!) and friendly. Creaky flooring in some corridors so quite noisy when someone walks past your room in the dead of night!

The staff were very friendly & helpful giving us excellent directions for going back home.Cannot fault them at all. However when we arrived at the hotel on 10/1/2013 there was no heating on in the bedroom or bathroom, the hotel lounge was also very cold although when we complained the manager turned on two wall heaters & also brought a portable heater which he plugged in next to our table.Dinner was terrible. Definitely overpriced. £10 for fish & chips peas & tartare sauce which tasted vile.Chips tasted like tunips not well cooked at all. Again when I complained about it, the manager took 50% off the price of the meals which was fair enough but still overpriced even at that. We stayed there because we wre going to the crematorium so it was really handy for there, but all in all if wew have to go back to loughborough don't think we'll be staying there.

Staff were very helpful when one bathroom was not up to standard and immediately changed one of our party to another better room. Breakfast very well cooked and hot although did not like having to jump up and down for tea, hot water, milk, butter marmalade etc every few moments through the meal, but that is the usual hotel layout these days. Will probably stay again when we have to come up to Quorn for another family occasion - so convenient just a few minutes away. Good value.
