Comfortable bed and room.

Location was convenient. Clean.

Plumbing - shower ( single room) had no temperature control and was too hot. When i spoke to staff they agreed there was no was of controlling the temperature. I had a similar problem with an over bath shower in a different room last time i stayed.

Very friendly staff, who are clearly passionate about the hotel. Couldn't really fault anything, would definitely use again for business trips

It is and old hotel that needs a renovation , rooms and carpets are old fashioned. It can be quite noisy due to the number of contractors who stay there.

Evening meals being served on trays in bar. Put us off eating here. Food looked good though. Choice of cask beers limited.

Free car park with fast access to town centre via good taxi service which was suggested by the hotel. Better than average rooms with good beds and warm, powerful shower. Steam trains running behind the hotel gardens.

Very poor breakfast and table service. Meals not brought out together, cold toast without butter until requested 3 times; lack of coffee/sugar/milk to accommodate all the guests; only one person taking orders and getting them wrong, heavily overworked woman and obviously understaffed. Complaints voiced with little done or said about them.

Only problem, every time the person above me moved, you could hear the ceiling creek.

The rooms were ideal for our overnight stay providing everything we needed. Clean and comfortable.

I was looking forward to a country pub atmosphere which the photos suggested. Unfortunately the bar was empty.

Showers appaling - no power and just about warm. Mattress lumpy. Room just outside noisy air vent so had to keep window shut at night.

waitress staff paniced with breakfast on sunday morning(52 people for breakfast) and got orders wrong

Bathroom looked as though it had recently been refurbished and while small was very clean.

This hotel was had good reviews, though now I have stayed I am not sure as to why. The receptionist was uninterested on our arrival and refused to give a receipt for the payment she had taken until check out - hotel policy I was told. The room itself was basic, could do with new carpeting and less in the way of polyester foot covers but the bathroom looked as though it had recently been refurbished and while small was very clean. The biggest issue with the hotel it seems is sound proofing. I was in room 37 and the room above me had floor boards to squeaky I was unable to get to sleep until the occupant in the room above went to bed. Not helped by the fact the occupant seemed to be very heavy on their feet. The next morning at 5.20 am, the occupant of room 36 awoke and began their morning ablutions and I heard every single one from the phlegmy cough to the use of the bathroom. The breakfast in the morning was not too bad as I had a cooked breakfast but the offerings for a continental breakfast was quite poor.

The location of the hotel was good. The food was very good. It was easy to park. The staff were very pleasent.

There were no draws in the bedroom. As is often the case there was little shelf space in the bathroom. The pillows were very hard. There seemed to be only one set of keys for the room. On the first day I took these keys out with me and the staff were unable to service the room until I returned. Was there no pass key? It turned out the resturant was closed on the sunday evening. I was not told about this until I tried to book a table that evening. The lady at reception, it seems, had only just been told herself.

How accommodating staff were when i asked if it was possible to have some food at 8.55pm

There was a mixup with the booking and the receptionist was most helpful in sorting it out. Though it was not what I expected and the building was a little shabby it was spotlessly clean and and plenty of hot water and toiletries

Carpet in the bathroom (smelt of urine) Food was poor. Whole place needs updating, stuck in a time warp - call in the hotel inspector!
