The Black Boy is a 16th-century inn within Caernarfon's historic town walls. It has good Real Ales, hearty meals, and is an easy walk from the center of town and 13th-century castle.

Only there for a few hours . Arrived very late and had to get up early! Great staff , comfy bed
Cleaners in the corridor most of the day and there cleaning trolleys.
Good pool, nice breakfast
Bedrooms small and awful decor, rubbish pillows
Location is good staff really polite and helpful though struggled at busy times! Pool fab breakfast yummy food in bar great and drinks expensive but nit excessive.... Would of liked Peroni on draught though
Really really hard bed!!! No small lights in family room... All or nothing...
We asked to move room because we found our bed too small and the room had been recently repainted and smelt of paint and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The second room was excellent. Good hotel.
The Staff were friendly and very welcoming booked at the last minute great value for money kids loved the pool in the morning great food to.
The rooms and bathroom was a bit outdated sweet wrappers left on the bedroom floor when first going in to the room.
Walking distance to town and shops. Across the road a short distance to the Victoria docks. A large airy hotel with lots of character. Excellent breakfast and very pleasant and obliging staff.Leisure facilities are excellent. A very good value break. Will return.
The toiletries in the bathroom were sparse, one shampoo and one shower gel, although there were two of us.
Excellent, breakfast, staff and location. clean hotel throughout and it was half term so a busy period for them.
Close to all amenities, lovely hotel and large room, leisure facilities included in price. Breakfast very good quality and plentiful. Cheaper than the travel lodge opposite and breakfast included in the rate we paid.
Beds slightly to hard for our liking, bath towels rather small.
The location was excellent as was the service, and friendliness of the staff.Evening meal and breakfast was very very good.the restraunt decor was ppleasant.I would have no hesitation in staying at the Celtic again
Nothing I didn't like
Being picky - the selection of beers in the bar was a bit limited
Staff very friendly and helpful.
I think it might be a good idea if people would like to order their dinner beforehand as the meal takes a good half-an-hour to be prepared and reach your table.
THE POOL!!! The included breakfast was WAY better than the typical English "free" hotel breakfast! The hotel was walking distance to the local castle and walled town, and across from a grocery store. IDEAL!
Gorgeous hotel, lovely staff, excellent facilities and location
Staff always helpful we had a blocked sink in the room we came back from dinner fixed clean friendly great place to stay close to everything
The staff were so warm and welcoming. the Valentines meal was excellent.
Clean comfortable hotel with excellent staff.
Staff were very professional and helpful - initial problems with lack of wifi access were resolved with a change of room - special dietary requests were met - swimming pool a delight.
Breakfast was marred by inconsiderate guest at neighbouring table making endless calls on mobile phone - a request to diners to refrain from making or taking calls while in the restaurant should prevent this happening - surely a courtesy toward fellow guests
all members of staff that I engaged with ie receptionist, waitress etc were friendly and appeared to be happy in their work!
i dislike help yourself cooked breakfast. This had been cooked in large quantities so I didn't know how long it had been sat around for - yuk!
Very courteous and helpful staff, nice and clean, really good size rooms - excellent value for money. Will definitely return.
Location Room Staff in the hotel were fine and breakfast OK.
lack of heating in room for much of the day and night. The whole heating system to the rooms was switched off from about 10.00am to 6pm and from about 11pm to 7.30am. In Feb that meant the room got very cold. Also we were put in a very dark part of the restaurant for Breakfast, so I could not see what I was eating - a complaint the next day meant they were prepared to sit us somewhere decent.
The bed, hard and comfortable, great nights sleep. WiFi, very good reception, no problems. Quiet, no problems with noisy guests. Breakfast, everything fresh and plentiful.
I arrived at around 17.00 and the room was freezing as the heating was off, at this time of year I would expect the room to be warm on arrival, also the radiator isn't really big enough for the size of room. There is no isolation switch for the extractor in the bathroom which became annoying when just filling the kettle, cleaning teeth, shaving etc.
Very good value for money great facilities including Gym/Pool, Comfy well-furnished room, Good location with local shops.
A bit could with small radiator in large room- heating not on till 6pm !
Staff informative and welcoming. In house meals good value for money.
Ensuite rather small but functional. Room will need a small fridge in the summer.
Excellent service from staff - particularly the restaurant waiting staff who remained friendly, polite and cheerful despite the hotel being very busy with a large wedding reception. Quality of food in restaurant also very good.
Room was perhaps a little chilly but not to the point where we would have complained.
