Very comfortable bed. Quiet despite being above a pub. Did not try food. Will definitely return.
Parking can be tricky during busy pub times.
slow, slow breakfast
The Hotel staff were very welcoming, the room was very comfortable and clean
The food in the evening was very good.
The breakfast experience was terrible, I needed to leave by 8.30 am and breakfast started at 8.00 am which was ok, but although I was in the dinning room by 8.00 am my was taken until 8.15 am and I ended up leaving at 8.30 am with no breakfast in sight and no explanation, I had to go looking for the only staff member who had completely disappeared to pay my bill which delayed me even further. Another guest followed me out also without receiving his breakfast, which meant that only 1 guest out of 3 had breakfast on that morning. I will not be going back again.
Atmosphere was good. Lovely log fire. Sandwich we asked for wasn't on the menu but wasn't a problem as it was freshly made for us. Lovely walks in vicinity suggested by the hosts. Food was good.
Bedroom door difficult to lock. No iron available.
Convenient location and combination of pub B&B with evening meal.
I have used the Chequers for several years and appreciated it for quality/choice of food and drink and friendliness. Since the takeover by Mountain Range, the choice of food and drink has deteriorated, it has lost personality, while its bad points have not improved (the plumbing).
The warmth of both of the staff and the building, plus excelent food.
Petty details:- Stained shower curtain, stained kettle, several bulbs not working, long running bathroom fan and curtain hooks missing.
Comfortable and good selection of ales.
No time for full english despite waiting 30 minutes for it to be cooked!!!! Not only me either other guests left without breakfast too.
lovely food situater in a lovely countryside
the stairs going to the bedrooms a little narrow for a senior person
Room size TV
Guiness £4.30 per pint Cold Breakfast
Nothing to dislike here, the staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. The food is very good and there's a decent choice of local English Ales. I would recommend this hotel/pub/restaurant to anyone visiting, and especially to anyone visiting from abroad who would like a taste of The English Country Village
Regretted not bringing any wellies with me as there is an interesting walk, with some historical places of interest, that starts just across the road. Unfortunately I got rather muddy due to some recent downpours. I'll bet its lovely in the summer.
Friendly staff wine was nice. Breakfast was good
Bath had black hairs on wall stairway and hall to lounge looked rough and there were a number of wires hanging about which looked a bit unsafe. Whole place looked like it could do with updating
The room and food were very good. The room was spacious and very well appointed. We were in the 1664 room. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The property was ideally situated for us due to it's close proximity to Haywards Heath. The breakfasts were cooked to order and therefore took time to be delivered. The breakfast choices were amazing and always served hot on warm plates. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was excellent with large portions.
There needed to be more hooks in the curtains and an additional toilet roll would be ideal. Additional documentation about the room and services available would have been helpful. (i.e. WiFi, operation of TV) Access to a phone in the room would have been useful
beautiful pub friendly warm and great food
Staff were friendly and helpful, food was good
Breakfast started at 8.00am, too late for a business traveller who starts work at 8.00
Friendly staff, comfy bed and a great breakfast
No phone signal! Not their fault!!
A lovely feel to both village & hitel
Helpful staff, comfortable bed, great bath and super breakfast.
Yes the breakfast was freshly and beautifully cooked and piping hot. Sevice was friendly and flexible and all our requests were met with charm and prompt attention. It was a lovely spacious room and arriving on a chilly day met us with delicious warmth.
Lovely and quiet. Good beer and friendly staff.
Boss lady was in the bar laughing and joking quite loudly till 2am which was directly below my room.
Bedroom well presented
WiFi is terrible. The bedroom was difficult to keep warm and there was damp in the bathroom with the shower curtain filthy from spores. No plug near to kettle - had to boil water on the floor of bedroom near available plug. Breakfast was poor - no beans one day and it took 35 minutes to cook, second day OK but came out wrong! Needs a good manager
Lovely place to stay.
Very poor phone reception which did seem unusual.
Delicious dinner and breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff
