Fantastic food and very friendly staff, highly recommend staying at this lovely pub/Inn
Bed could be updated as the mattress was not the most comfortable - very firm
Excellent, excellent! !
Overall welcoming staff and level of service. Good food.
Lighting in the bedroom No remote for TV
The quality of the food was good (but very expensive) and the geographical location convenient for visiting Chatsworth House.
Our roadside room was noisy even at night with the window shut. The rest of the property in general was in need of TLC.
Great food, warm and welcoming, friendly staff, lovely position on the Edge
Needs a reading light, room rather dark.
Large comfortable room, pleasant staff a great find.
Lovely old beams, open fires and lots of character. Debbie the Manager and all the staff were friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. Definitely not your average Pub food as the Chef really knows what he is doing!! Highly recommended!
The food & attention to detail
staff, food was delicious, beautiful bathroom, lots of hot water
bed was really quite uncomfortable, but a member of staff said they were about to refurb that bedroom
The staff were friendly and attentive and the quality of the food was excellent.
Lovely room spacious and cosy
Food was absolutely delicious! Lovely warm fire and great selection of wine. Peaceful location- great nights sleep in the comfortable four poster room. Value for money paid .
Liked everything !
Dinner was excellent, using local varieties of food and appeared freshly cooked to order.
The accommodation was excellent. Our dinner was also excellent. Breakfast was very relaxing and the service first class. The staff were friendly, helpful and willing to answer any queries.
Only two things that we felt worth mentioning. The Inn is on a very busy road and through the night traffic noise was a bit disturbing. There is double glazing and it helps a lot. The second thing is the hot water supply played up and needs to be addressed. My shower was working perfectly however when my wife stepped in to the shower, the water was very cold. It seems the hot water had run out meaning that the supply could not meet demand. This was the only real issue we had in our stay otherwise there were no problems that could be addressed easily.
Attractive pub character, welcoming, our was spacious comfortable 'superior room' with a new modern bathroom. An ideal place for exploring the Peak District. We would happily return for another visit.
The meals are beautifully cooked and presented but verging on the 'poncy'. Some unnecessary dribbles and decorations e.g 'mustard snow'. Game specials which we didn't try. Eating from a kilner jar is awkward.
staff food is superb cosy bar, especially in evenings and gloomy days reduced price tickets for Chatsworth room warm view
bath very narrow and enamel chipped
Good location- very close to Chatsworth and Bakewell. Food was excellent - we stayed for 2 nights and had the halibut and steak and ale pie - both superb. Great power shower, comfortable bed, decent sized room.
The noise from the road, as stated by others, took a bit of adjusting to but we were fine by the second night. It certainly wouldn't stop us from returning.
The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The room was large, clean with a comfy bed and lovely en suite. The food was excellent. Close to popular towns and attractions. What more can you ask!
Excellent food Friendly staff Clean, comfortable and spacious room Cosy log fire in bar Interesting walks leaflet for local area
Need to cross quite a busy road to access building from car park
The food was lovely The staff were so helpful The location was perfect The rooms and facilities were excellent
Nothing, i wouldnt change anything
made welcome good room and facilities
We stayed at The Chequers Inn for 1 night and would like to have stayed longer! The staff were welcoming but not overbearing. Our room was beautifully decorated, was large and the same goes for the bathroom. We often find showers in hotels can be a bit hit and miss but this one was far better than some city accommodation! Dinner was wonderful as was breakfast which was relaxed yet every need catered for. Do visit the garden behind the pub, it's up some steps but it's very peaceful and I am sure when it's not foggy, there is a beautiful view. I did overhear a group sat near to us at breakfast picking at various aspects of this beautiful inn ... the owners can't change the squeaky floorboards, the location or the age of the place and for this I am most grateful.
Road noise: yes there is road noise but we knew there would be as the road is one of the main ones in the area. Noise can be heard from the bar but only just!
Food was superb and the meal was presented in an imaginative way. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
Step in Room 2 was a potential trip hazard
Clean, warm, and staff friendly and open. Great breakfast. Great value.
