Convenient location for Eastern Peak District with interesting places to visit, wonderful scenery and pleasant walks. Dinner menus were fantastic and well deserving of the awards but a little pricey! Friendly and helpful staff. Tea/coffee in the room replenished each day.
The room was adequate, perhaps a bit dark and subject to some, but not excessive, traffic noise
Service was great and had a sensational meal in the pub. The rooms were lovely and comfortable. We particularly liked the free standing bath. We will hopefully stay again in the future.
Excellent food Excellent customer service Friendly staff Good choice of ales
Our room needed an update!
good food great staff let us check in early fab .
Food was very good. Bed was really comfortable. Although we were at the side of a busy road the double glazing kept all traffic noise out.
Room was good, but bathroom /plumbing needs allittle attention.
Room small, dark, scruffy
Very comfortable bed. Excellent food. Staff willing to go the extra mile.
There wasn't anything that we didn't like.
Most of it, food, location great.
We were 4 adults who liked to either hike or run. We appreciated being able to step out the door and onto trails or paths. The staff were warm, helpful and accommodating, and the meals were delicious and hearty.
The rooms could stand a bit of updating – carpets, bedding.
Excellent quality of food. Great choice of menu.
Some areas tired and in need of an update.
The friendliness of the staff ans the suburb quality of the food on offer
Nothing to dislike

A little noisy being on a main road
Too near to a busy main road

Bathroom not wonderful but adequate
Excellent food and comfortable accommodation and surroundings. Very friendly staff.
location and food were excellent
poor wi fi and phone reception
The food The staff The location
Going home and leaving that food behind
poor value for money. Road side, so traffic noise. Interior walls and wood need painting and varnishing.
Really lovely room with a nice comfy bed, we had a nice meal down in the bar and a drink or two. All the staff were very friendly.
Dinner seemed expensive, not sure if this is standard in the area and we did have steak, but still for a pub dinner of steak and chips we ended up paying £70 (including a bottle of wine) - no starters and only a pudding to share..... None the less the food was lovely and so was the atmosphere.
The food was EXCELLENT. The building has charm and the gardens out back give a lovely view of the countryside. The bar area is pleasant and homely
Thick cobwebs between the dirty secondary glazed windows. Kettle provided would not fit under tap making it completely useless!! The tiny, dirty windows let very little air in during heatwave and with no fan or air-con got very hot. Huge lorries and motorcycles rumbling and roaring past at all hours meant very little sleep as windows had to be open. Very stale smell in room. The shower room (no bath!) was very tired looking. Not worth the price AT ALL
Fantastic polite and welcoming staff, delicious food and a very comfortable stay. A good base for exploring Frogatt and Curbar Edge.
The traffic noise from the road, but there is little the hotel can do about this!
We stayed for 3 nights at the Chequers Inn. Whilst we thought £85 B&B was a little expensive for a pub it was more than worth it. Although directly on a road the location is beautiful with views from the hillside woodland garden stunning. You definitely need a car if staying here but there is ample car parking. The pub retains some quaint features and our room was sympathetically decorated and furnished and was large and clean. We had a super bathroom with a huge shower and a roll top bath! The landlady and her staff offer excellent customer service; welcoming, polite, friendly and attentive. We ate here one night and the food was good, although an average main course was about £15 to £20. Breakfast was freshly prepared to order and was very tasty. The additional info in the rooms regarding local attractions and short walks that could be undertaken from the hotel was most appreciated. We would recommend this hotel.
friendly staff and good food
A bit expensive
