The staff, breakfast staff very friendly. The bedroom was comfortable. Good parking, easy to find.
Noisy neighbours above us, you hear the floor-boards creaking, but once in their beds asleep,it was ok.
Our overnight stay at The Chequers was simply great value for money. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The standard of breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
Nothing except a very minor point. We were in the Coach House Annexe and the shower did not have a dish/shelf for soap, shampoo, etc.
Have stayed here twice and will return! The rooms are excellent, the staff (especially at breakfast) are great. The breakfast is great and the evening meals are good value for money!!
I can't find anything to complain about! (Please don't change anything)
The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is a relaxed atmosphere. The room was comfortable.
Had a problem with the blind in the morning with would not open. Reported to reception when booking out.
Loved the food, diner and breakfast were great and the staff were all very helpful and friendly.Lovely room, bedding was great and very clean.
The smell of cigerette smoke in the hall upstairs. The bathroom had a few issues. No towel rail, a very wonky loo roll holder and a badly positioned shower head that make the water just gush onto the shower glass, bath rim then straight onto the floor, and very badly fitted lino. Having said all that I would stay there again as it was convenient for me and overall my stay was very pleasant, but room for improvement .A suggestion would be to move the bed onto the other wall and cover the squeking floorboards, and put the T.V. on a bracket so that you could see it.
Really good room, full of character. Conveniently located for our weekend plans
Stay was spoilt a little due to obvious chaos in the kitchen at breakfast time. Waited about 40 mins for a simple cooked breakfast and when it arrived it wasn't as ordered.
Lovely country pub location. and the pub itself has lots of character, even with its own well!
Staff very 'matter of fact' and lacking in personality and customer service. It was very cold in the bar area. our room was very bare and lacking in drawer space. A comfy chair would have made it look more homely.
We stayed in the coach house. Ideal for us as no stairs to climb, (both have health issues). Also there was a large roomy shower which we prefer to a bath. We have stayed before and would stay again.
Bed is good
Window will not stay open as mechanism is broken. WC seat broken on two occasions and flush needs repair. Basin tap faulty. Bathroom in general requires tidying up.
The location was just right, parking good, interior and decoration inviting as it was over Christmas, staff very helpful and friendly, good warm clean room and en suite I had for a week, Good choice at breakfast and good food served through out the day if so required. I will be staying again when in the area as it suited me.
Nothing caused me to think why I should not stay again.
All good but as others have said, something is missing.
Ordered the Chicken Fajitas for dinner. We wasn't told there was any problems with this but when it arrived there was no sour cream or salsa. It stated on the menu that it came with both. I asked where it was but was told they didn't have either. I do think I should of been told this when I ordered it as I would of had something else.
Everything, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful
shower head bracket broken
Great Welcome Comfortable room Tea coffee and biscui Very good breakfast Cosy bar with open fire
Very warm and welcoming with yummy food. Cant fault a thing
My wife and I liked the period charm of the hotel (room Number 8). We did upgrade to a larger room with a four poster bed we found very comfortable , The other members of our party did eat at the restaurant one night and we had two breakfasts were excellent Not being very IT savvy we did not take advantage of the wifi All things considered we found our experience quite pleasant and would happy to book again and recommend your hotel and group I hope you find our comments helpful
The room was let down by lack of a shower in the bathroom , house keeping and maintenance in the room only hope I haven't been too negative
Excellent breakfast and nice old inn character for the evening drink. Excellent value.
A few minor bits of outstanding maintenance in the room but it is an old inn :-)
Friendly staff Good food Atmospheric Easy to get to Easy parking Inexpensive
Room decor a bit tired Ventilation fan below the room made a lot of noise all night
