The Spa Hotel is an elegant country mansion just a 10 minute walk from Tunbridge Wells Train Station. It is in 14 acres of gardens and parkland, and has a swimming pool and sauna.
Score from 393 reviews Very good
The pub and the atmosphere was lovely and the ros where perfect
Staff where just a little rushed ...
The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the lady who served us at breakfast was very professional.
The evening waiters/waitresses require a little more training to provide a better service. Unfortunately 4 deserts were unavailable! The hotel looked tired with threadbare carpets, damp patches, chipped furniture and paintwork :(
Everything was good.
Nice and comforable
Good sized room, very comfortable.
No decaf coffee in room.
Everything was excellent
room, staff, everything really. would stay again
pasta dinner was OK at best. I was told upon arrival that breakfast was included. said I would be leaving about 6.30am as I was taking part in a marathon starting at 7.45am. Was asked if I would like something brought up at 6am :) I thought, wow, great service. Asked for yoghurt (or porridge) and a banana. It never appeared. I wouldn't have expected it but to be asked then not receive was disappointing.
Welcoming and friendly staff. Good nights sleep in warm room, comfortable bed with superior bed linen. Clean, modern bathroom with shower and plenty of hot water. Good dining facilities. Have booked again for next week.
Creaking floorboards from room above. But what can you expect in an 18th century coaching inn? It won't stop me staying at The Chequers Inn again.
The staff were very friendly The room was nice and the breakfast was filling
Someone else's hair in the shower
Lack of maintenance in bathrooms. Obvious issues like leaking radiators and rotten bath panel left.
Our room was huge and elegant. The breakfast is served in a rustic and charming room with the ancient well and a gallery. Food was good and the staff helpful.
All good, but perhaps there could be some more comfortable seating areas in the bar and restaurant.
Clean, no sticky wobbly tables. Good room / mattress and tv channels work in coach house
Multitasking staff makes for delayed response. I don't like checking in at the bar
Staff were excellent, food was super (both evening meal and breakfast), nice quiet village location, really good retreat for our weekend break. On the edge of beatiful countryside.
nothing we didn't like
The staff, breakfast staff very friendly. The bedroom was comfortable. Good parking, easy to find.
Noisy neighbours above us, you hear the floor-boards creaking, but once in their beds asleep,it was ok.
Our overnight stay at The Chequers was simply great value for money. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The standard of breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
Nothing except a very minor point. We were in the Coach House Annexe and the shower did not have a dish/shelf for soap, shampoo, etc.
Have stayed here twice and will return! The rooms are excellent, the staff (especially at breakfast) are great. The breakfast is great and the evening meals are good value for money!!
I can't find anything to complain about! (Please don't change anything)
The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is a relaxed atmosphere. The room was comfortable.
Had a problem with the blind in the morning with would not open. Reported to reception when booking out.
Loved the food, diner and breakfast were great and the staff were all very helpful and friendly.Lovely room, bedding was great and very clean.
The smell of cigerette smoke in the hall upstairs. The bathroom had a few issues. No towel rail, a very wonky loo roll holder and a badly positioned shower head that make the water just gush onto the shower glass, bath rim then straight onto the floor, and very badly fitted lino. Having said all that I would stay there again as it was convenient for me and overall my stay was very pleasant, but room for improvement .A suggestion would be to move the bed onto the other wall and cover the squeking floorboards, and put the T.V. on a bracket so that you could see it.
Really good room, full of character. Conveniently located for our weekend plans
Stay was spoilt a little due to obvious chaos in the kitchen at breakfast time. Waited about 40 mins for a simple cooked breakfast and when it arrived it wasn't as ordered.
Lovely country pub location. and the pub itself has lots of character, even with its own well!
Staff very 'matter of fact' and lacking in personality and customer service. It was very cold in the bar area. our room was very bare and lacking in drawer space. A comfy chair would have made it look more homely.
We stayed in the coach house. Ideal for us as no stairs to climb, (both have health issues). Also there was a large roomy shower which we prefer to a bath. We have stayed before and would stay again.
Bed is good
Window will not stay open as mechanism is broken. WC seat broken on two occasions and flush needs repair. Basin tap faulty. Bathroom in general requires tidying up.
The location was just right, parking good, interior and decoration inviting as it was over Christmas, staff very helpful and friendly, good warm clean room and en suite I had for a week, Good choice at breakfast and good food served through out the day if so required. I will be staying again when in the area as it suited me.
Nothing caused me to think why I should not stay again.
All good but as others have said, something is missing.
Ordered the Chicken Fajitas for dinner. We wasn't told there was any problems with this but when it arrived there was no sour cream or salsa. It stated on the menu that it came with both. I asked where it was but was told they didn't have either. I do think I should of been told this when I ordered it as I would of had something else.
Everything, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful
