view of minster from room
dirty bedding // room tiny ( we thought it was a single occupancy room i.e. 1 bath towel, 2 tea bags, no space ) damp smell in bathroom. £ 10 per night to park, almost £10 for a breakfast. i was overcharged by £20, and only realised when i returned home.
Hair dryer didn't work but staff attended to it.
Staff were brilliant, lovely atmosphere and great food
Lovely old building with gorgeous sweeping staircase. Room was decorated really well. Loads of parking, big room with a four poster bed and a bath in the room. 5 min walk into York centre. Most of the staff were really helpful.
Wifi didn't work at all. Ordered newspapers and they didn't turn up but didn't get an apology, was told to go to Sainsburys down the road! But they're small things, overall it was an enjoyable stay.
friendly staff.. very nice hotel.. will stay here again.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent. Rooms were very clean and warm.
Cost of parking the car
the location of the hotel is great for walking into York center and we gate crashed a couple of Christmas parties whilst we were there so had fun!!
Size of room. was more like a store cupboard! The Aircon was on all night and could not be switched off in the room. When I mentioned this to reception the following morning they said it needed to be done there so fortunately switched it off for our second night so at least I had one decent nights sleep.
Noise of air con in room (no facility to turn off) so was difficult to sleep; Noise of people in corridor
Nice hotel, comfortable room and excellent location.
A bit on the expensive side as price didn't include breakfast and parking charge on top!
nice hotel, easy reach to town, quiet room, free toiletries, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Know the breakfast is lovely although we did not have it on this occasion.
room a bit on the small side, possibly a budget double. We have had bigger rooms previously, but told this was the last room left.
Attentiveness of staff, standard of rooms, even the decor celebrating Winston Churchill was well done! Location just a short walk from the Minster. The talent and imagination of the chef - dinner was outstanding.
Cannot think of anything! Have already recommended it to family.
The rooms were clean bed linen clean and decent bathroom carpets could have done with replacing not much drawer space had no hot water had to ask for someone to sort
Bar area very small no room for guests to sit and a bit scruffy breakfast not very good had to send back as cold would not stay again
The whole experience at the hotel was fantastic we are planning to book again soon. The hotel was close to all amenities but also set away from the city can walk to the city in 5mins
The room was on the small side but was okay for an overnight stay. bed comfy and breakfast excellent value.
Didn't agree to paying £10 to park my car within the hotel grounds.
Room clean and fresh Good location 5 minute walk into York centre Friendly staff
Car park charge Breakfast expensive not worth the price
Charming old building with plenty character
no lift access to the old part had to climb the stairs not easy when you have a wonky hip
Good located and friendly staff
Couldn't control the air con.
The staff were brilliant, hotel has a really nice feel to it very welcoming and it looks better than what you expect a 3 star to be. very close to the centre of York with a nice leisurely walk. would definitely stay again.
my only complaint was the mattress had several dips in it, possibly the springs had gone. However when I brought this to the attention of staff on booking out they said they would immediately change it.
An excellently located ,comfortable and clean hotel
Room service menu selection after 10.00pm
The location was ideal. The architecture in the street is very pleasing. All of the staff were exceptionally helpful. The breakfast was excellent.
The only problem was overheating in the bedroom.
Everything was in order. The hotel building is rather 'tired' although the rooms, called suites which is a bit of an exaggeration, were reasonably presented.
They do not tell you there is a £10.00 parking charge. If you wish to leave your car the following morning until after check out time, 11.00 am a charge of £25.00 is made.
Location, five minutes walk to city centre. Pleasant staff, great room just what we needed for a long weekend.
Nothing to mind.
The place, A lovely gift
Rooms for the price Very small, £150 a night and you have to pay £10 parking per day , breakfast poor
