The Clarence is Portsmouth and Southsea's multi award winning Adults only luxury boutique hotel. guests can enjoy a complimentary welcome drink on arrival, mid-day check out and 24 hour room service. This Edwardian residence has been stylishly converted to offer well designed and individually styled rooms with a luxury bathroom, including some with bathroom TV and Double Hydro Spa bath. There are free movies on demand, and free Wi-Fi is also available. Breakfast is freshly prepared from an extensive menu ranging from traditional English breakfast, vegetarian options, smoked salmon, and poached haddock. The Clarence is just a few hundred yards from the seafront and close to all of Portsmouth's major attractions, including the waterfront development of Gunwharf Quays, Spinnaker Tower and the world-famous Historic Dockyard. Both of Portsmouth's main train stations are just a 5-minute taxi journey away, and the nearest airport is a short car journey of 25 minutes (Southampton). The welcome we received and the attentiveness of the staff were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom and shower room were fine. Breakfast was a real treat too, with fresh haddock, one morning. E-mails beforehand were answered promptly. The shower floor was slippery, but we did not mention it at the time. Undoubtedly, the dedicated staff would have provided a special mat!

Beautifully clean and trendy boutique hotel with the warmest welcome with a drink on the house from their lovely bar. Sumptuous rooms and a beautifully cooked breakfast with the best quality produce cooked to order. A superb all round experience with charming hosts.

Everything about the Clarence was immaculate. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the room was beautiful - and so clean it looked brand new! I was staying on business and I had a really relaxing evening, a good night's sleep and a really delicious breakfast. This is one of the best places I've stayed. I really couldn't fault anything about the hotel. My heating / air con unit was a little noisy but when I turned it off the room was still perfectly warm so it didn't matter.
