Great staff and location
That brewery is closing the hotel
The location was brilliant, right on the seafront and close to the town centre. The room had a fantastic view overlooking the seafront and pier and was a great size with a large bathroom. The breakfast was very good.
Photos on website are very old. The building itself is very worn and neglected. Upon arriving in our room I went to use the toilet and it was discusting. Obviously it hadn't been cleaned from when the last guest used it. The glass beaker in the bathroom still had toothpaste all over it. The mirror hadn't been cleaned. The whole room was dusty, with cobwebs on light fittings, top of curtains, and headboard very noticeable. The small ironing board fixed to the wall was badly marked and the attached iron itself had all wires exposed. The remote control for the TV didn't work. The carpet was very badly stained all over, could have done with being cleaned !! The poor barmaid had to come and clean the toilet which as you can imagine she wasn't very pleased about. The public areas were also badly neglected and not very clean. Very disappointing. On the second day we realised why the hotel had been neglected, it was being boarded up the following day and closing down. The management will have obviously known about this for sometime and therefore should NOT have been charging the full room rate. We spoke to the manager who didn't seem that bothered, he took my husbands name and email address as we asked for a partial refund, but I don't hold out much hope. In hindsight I will never pay all upfront until I have inspected the room !!
Location. Central Deal some bedrooms have a sea view.
Room rather tired. 2nd floor room up a twisty staircase (probably cannot be changed in old building). Staff did not mention lift to 1st floor which would have helped. Bedroom carpet grubby otherwise bedroom satisfactory.
The location was excellent- on the beach front . Room view good Food was good and hot ( breakfast inclusive), bed firm and clean . Staff very friendly and helpful e.g. when son locked him self out of his room.
TV didn't work -remote needed batteries Décor a bit tired .
The hotel was in a good spot right on the seafront. Service was very good and the food was excellent and hot.
Sea view Pleasant, helpful staff
Bar shut early each evening Very noisy group in room next door on second day Noisy street in mornings Hotel is closing down in 4 weeks
The prices were extremely high. Service was poor. Manageress was insulting. The whole stay was a complete nightmare and a waste of money. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Clean bed linen and towels
TV did not work. Digi box eventually replaced but poor sound on a tiny TV. This could not compete with the thumping disco noise until 1am Saturday night and 12pm Sunday. Waitresses wearing unclean aprons.
Room was damp, over priced at £90 / night, dead flys in the bath, room was dirty, no toilet paper
The breakfast (included in price) was well cooked and presented. Staff friendly and efficient. We would stay again provided we didn't have problems in the bathroom!
Room no. 9 - the toilet seat was falling off and frankly dangerous - it needs to be fixed or replaced. Also the wash-hand basin was cracked and therefore not within H & S standards. Otherwise all ok. We did tell staff about toilet & wh basin
We stayed in apparently the "best room". It was dirty, incredibly out of date, things were broken, the bathroom was shocking (the bath panel was a moldy piece of plywood!) and staff were incredibly rude. Be warned - check out is at 10.30 am and they knock on your door at precisely that time to kick you out!
Convenience of the location of the hotel and its general character. Bonus was having a window with a sea view. Breakfast was generous and tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful.
TV in room was a bit small. Whilst free, the hotel WiFi coverage was often poor and unreliable.
The location and the breakfast that was included in the price
Our initial welcome, staff member was rude when we asked if we could see the room before we paid. The room was advertised as a deluxe double with spa bath, I'm 5ft 4 and I could just about get in it!!! Only tea and coffee in the room, no water or fruit tea etc
location, staff were helpful
All was reasonably clean, but carpets need replacing.
Nice old pubs
Staff member who greeted us was warm and friendly.
Room was cramped. Think it was over the kitchen so a pervading smell of cooking oil. Fittings needed updating.Breakfast wasn't pleasant - stale crumpets served on still sticky pub tables.
We were kept waiting outside for 15 minutes outside then told no booking been received from you . Ended up with single room for me and my partner . Which was filthy and had mushrooms growing on windowsill .
Very comfortable beds. Standard of cleanliness was good. Good value for money.
Good shower, plenty of hot water. Excellent breakfast. Very attentive helpful staff. Excellent location, across street from the water. Heated towels, very nice touch.
Bedside lights did not seem to work, leaving only one overhead light, not sufficient for working. Street noise.
Excellent porridge for breakfast. View of North Sea. Handy for car park and town centre
Needs a bit of refurbishment, comfy but drab
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was reasonable. The towels were large and very soft, unusual in most hotels.
No access to lift after 10pm, making it difficult to carry luggage, carry cot and moses basket and a tiny baby up all the stairs, but to be fair we failed to mention the presence of a baby when booking. The toilet seat in room 3 was very loose and I had to clean it before use as there were marks like blood or body waste on it. The carpet was in a filthy state and the quilts barely covered the mattress and in general the room was in need of refurbishment
Very friendly and helpful staff
My room was unheated when I arrived on a very cold evening. There was a blower heater which worked but the radiator did not.
Staff were friendly. Room was clean
Paid £90, I thought that was a lot for what is basically a B&B. Had to pay for car parking - £1 an hour can add up -
breakfast, close to beach and close to town centre, staff were friendly, restaurant lovely with log fire
entrance and bar area in need of a lick of paint
When we arrived we checked in, the bar girl, was very helpfull nice and polite
Every thing was fine, oh the stairs were abit steep specially after a couple of drinks lol
