Our stay was pleasant. The owners gave their best in support and trying to please. Dining area very nice and toilets near the bar is beautiful
The room was a bit dated and the walls need painting
Nice welcome from the hosts. Outside area would be great for summer dining or drinks. Varied menu but a little over priced, food presentation was good, quality did not match appearance.
Although improvements made based upon previous reviews but in my opinion still has some way to go to be a first choice venue. Top floor room was smallish, the shower was a waste of time one minute scalding hot and the next freezing cold, could not have even a reasonable shower. Main bar was cluttered with tables not cleared very well. My stay was on a very windy night and I was kept awake most of the night with something banging in the wind out on the room, most annoying. TV did not work in room. Parking tight.
great staff best scrambled eggs ever great view of the sea relaxed attitude re:breakfast
Bed Linen very clean . Local to ferry port . Price ok .
Noisy , untidy , bathroom and shower not clean , chewing gum in bedroom carpet .renovations have a " do it yourself "feel . Owners need to improve customer experience .
Helpful staff, the restaurant had closed by the time we checked in but we were allowed to bring a takeaway into the bar. Great breakfast the next morning.
Bed wasn't very comfortable and the main road was noisy all night
Close to Newhaven Dieppe ferry. Brilliant breakfast. Friendly staff. Dining area very attractive.
Good budget hotel en route to ferry at Newhaven. Helpful staff and bar meals available. Breakfast from bar menu - OK
Finding the hotel. It is in Peacehaven, not Newhaven, which the owners said they had frequently told Booking. As you go through the town it is opposite Sainsbury's Local.
The room was okay but very small and noisy on the main road. Staff on the evening shift were fine, evening meal bog standard.
I ordered breakfast for 8am as was catching a ferry and came down to be told in no uncertain terms by the owner that it would take 20 minutes to heat up the cookers etc I did get a continental breakfast of toast which was bread not properly toasted. I had understood the location of the hotel was 5 minutes walking distance to the ferry to Dieppe. I had rung the hotel beforehand to find this out. It was in fact 4 Bus stops away from the station.
service with a big smile; catering to parents with young children as well as oldies like ouselves; good food.
Great welcome, friendly atmosphere. Comfortable, clean but fairly basic room. I read the previous reviews, and of new management, this place is much better than previous reviews suggest. So if it has new management then you're doing a great job.
Drop the reference to the previous name, it's holding you back. A few tiny improvements would make a difference, clean the excess paint off floor/doors etc after decorating for example.
Staffs are o.k. Food is good enough.room is small not well decorated partially because they have not finished renovation
Room is very small and noisy
warm and friendly greeting from the proprietor, as b4.
bar prices a bit steep, more expensive than at gatwick airport, in some instances. too dear for the locality, to be attractive.
I had ordered a double room, that was given to somebody else before we arrived,we were given a single room and camp bed.
Location, comfortable bed, local beer. We understand that this is a couple who is re-doing an older establishment by themselves and we wish them luck, but when they DO have patrons, some attention (beyond passing the room key and sending a daughter to show the way) would have gone a long way to a better review.
Feeling like we'd dropped into a kids' playdate, with the owners busy with friends. Finding the kitchen too busy (with few other patrons) to get food out. No bedside table or light. Sketchy carpet and bathroom flooring.
Everything , the room was a disgrace couldn't tell what colour the carpet was from the stains , toilet had no lid, when trying to wash you kept touching screen of shower space so small. Apparently we were upgraded!! dread to think what other rooms are like. There was laundry outside on the floor, Hoover on the landing. Dirty cups and saucers on the landing. Wouldn't touch it again with a barge pole!!
The present owners have only been there for 4 months and the Inn was very run down so they are doing their best to get everything sorted but it takes time. The bedding & towels were spotless but the room we had (10) was VERY run down.
See remarks on the right.
They are new owners and are working hard to make a good business. The staff were friendly and the place was very clean.
The rooms were very basic, the bathrooms were very small. The twin beds were just like camp beds.
Helpful, friendly staff. We were able to put our bikes in the room.
Room could have been cleaner, no bin in the room, room was too warm and only one bed had a bedside table.
catered for exactly what we needed, we needed somewhere to get our head down over night. Owners are very helpful and friendly. They are currently refurbishing the place after taking over so its an ongoing project. If you want somewhere to stay that is very close to Brighton with out the crazy prices then this is the place for you
noise from the road but that's not the inn's fault, i put ear plugs in half way through the night and all was well
The rooms are awful no where to hang clothes up, toilet was no attached to the floor the bathroom floor felt like it was going to cave in, lino all rotted with water damage. They neglected to tell us they were having a childrens party all day hundreds of children, so no where to sit down in bar. When arriving back after a night out bar was closed at 11 o'clock so no late drinks. We couldn't wait to get out of there the next morning. We would not stay there again, it was listed at 95 pounds on site but when we got there it had rooms fro 30 pound upwards.
I visited while renovations are being carried out so had a good price for room. When room not quite suitable I was found another room. With courtesy they realised I could not climb stairs up another flight another room found. So good service. Site of hotel not far from cliff walk, sea views etc but basic roadside situation. Good on whole!
Rather noisy room as close to road. Need some sort of inner sound proofing.Breakfast ok but there should be a proper list of prices, tariff as drink was extra? I know that tweaking is being done
Within close proximity to the seaside. I'm sure the other rooms are great and less noisy, so don't be put off by my negative feedback. They are in the process of refurbishing and things may improve once this is complete.
We booked a twin, but got a double room. Staff agreed to rectify this. The mattresses on the beds were VERY uncomfortable. We had the room above the entrance to the pub with a supermarket across the road that closes at 11am and starts pushing out the trolleys at 6am. VERY NOISY.
Location was OK. Breakfast was good.
Too noisy. Quality of room poor, though reasonably priced. Kitchen was closed for sometime as they had a function on, so ate out. Did not like big guys wandering around with security on their shirts and walkie-talkie radios stuck in their belts, I thought it was an Inn not a nightclub!
The place is a bar, with a nice decking area at the rear, with rooms above it. The rooms are quite large, comfortable and clean. We stayed for one night only on our trip over to France and its in a good location to the ferry port. It has free on site parking and is very pet friendly.Nice friendly couple that run it.Cheap full english breakfast on the decked patio was nice.Very close to the seafront for nice walks with the dog.
Nothing really the only thing is you need to remember it is a bar situated on the main high street and they do have live music on certain nights which I personally would like but may be a little noisy for others.
