The room was nice and very clean with quite high quality fittings and a lovely view over open fields. It was unfortunate that I could hear someone snoring in an adjacent room and the hot water pressure was very low so the shower would only come out of a few of the holes, but to be fair when I pointed this out the lady said the water authority were looking in to it. The Webb site led me to believe it was a country inn with good restaurant facilities but there was only one table that was not set out for eating so it did not have that country inn feel to it that I had hoped for.

An excellent village location with inspiring views. The Coach House looks like it has just been refurbished and was tastefully finished. The food was excellent in the Pheasant with good service. The room was small and a bit chilly. We had no control over the heating as it was off. There was also a boiling shower that may have resulted from a recent plumber visit. Not much assistance was offered. It was a shame that no morning paper could be ordered as there is no shop in the village.

A truely wonderful magical place where the staff are english, happy and know what they are doing. A place which does exactly what it says it does and does it very very well. We stayed in the "Capt Oates" room , clean, spacious, modern, everything you could need was provided, fridge, fresh milk, water, hospitality tray excellent. I can not recommend them highly enough. Do try try the Pleasent pheasent bitter, an old world charm pint to die for. Go and try it all for yourself....

The Pheasant is in a typical quiet lovely essex village. We wanted to be able to just do nothing and re-charge our batteries....and we did just that...on arrival we were treated to a lovely glass of Presecco by the owners (James and Diane) and sat in the pub and hardly wanted to move...nothing to do with the horrible jubilee weekend weather we were having and the lovely fire we were sitting in front of, lols. Our room was positioned overlooking fields and James and Dianes Chelsea award winning Garden. The rooms are positioned right next to the pub and were very comfortably furnished with all modern fittings and the bed and Bathroom was fantastic. In the evening we had dinner in the pub which to be honest was not your average pub food that was personally cooked by James...you wont be disappointed. Thank you both for a lovely stay.....see you in Italy ;) Barry and James
