Friendly helpful staff Beautifully decorated Comfortable bed, massive bedroom and bathroom, elegant curtains Good food Beautiful garden Every bit as good as it appeared to be on the website Lorries started at about 4.30am - could someone persuade the Council to fix the dropped grid in the road outside which they all bounced over

From the very warm welcome on arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble, and the food, both dinner and breakfast, was to die for.

The friendliness of the staff and the general ambience of the hotel It would be unfair to say we didn't like the food but it fell marginally below the exceptional standard of the rest of the hotel, breakfast is excluded from this comment.

The welcome, the decor, the room, the fittings, the bar, the residents kitchen was a first for us and included tea and coffee, including a variety of fruit teas, fresh milk, bottled water, iron and ironing board. only one chair in our double room but this wasn't an issue as we spent the evening in the residents library

Excellent in all categories. Warm welcome, cosy & stylish accommodation & facilities, unpretentious but well cooked local fare & good wine list. Pleasant garden. Remarkably quiet despite proximity to main road. No fault to find.

This was our second stay at the Collingwood Arms. The staff are welcoming and helpful - they make you feel as though your stay is really important to them. The whole place is very comfortable and clean - a great place to unwind - big, comfy armchairs in the lounges and big, comfy beds in the rooms. There are two dining options - the dining room, which is quite formal and the brasserie which is next to the bar and was our choice for dining during this trip. The food is excellent and focuses on local produce.

Kevin, the Manager, is outstanding with just the right balance of welcoming friendliness and professionalism - he would be an asset to any hotel but fits in perfectly to The Collingwood Arms which has been beautifully decorated and thought out. The bedrooms and reception rooms are comfortable and have great character. The menu offers a sensible selection for each course, and everything we chose was delicious - ditto the wine list. Highly recommended.

I can thoroughly recommend the hotel. It is quiet, comfortable, beautifully decorated and the food is very good. The staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. There is on-site parking. It is a pleasure to come across a hotel like this where the owners have devoted so much thought to creating a first class guest experience when they recently renovated the hotel.

Quality and atmosphere. The young staff are outstanding in friendliness and helpfulness, taking time and effort to make sure every need was met. The suite was delightful. The decor and little touches like really nice bottled water and a welcome pack of delicious homemade biscuits. Not to mention the generous supply of full size Molton and Brown toiletries. Having the nightly changing menus in the Brasserie and main dining room was also outstanding. Smallest niggle. Television reception in this area is clearly a problem. Although most guests at this hotel wo'nt spend much time in room watching tv, there is no point in having them with only 4 channels and fuzzy pictures. Investment in Freesat would be the answer to deliver quality in every aspect of the Collingwood experience.

Collingwood is possibly one of the nicest hotel I have stayed in. Kevin (Manager) was outstanding, every hotel should have a Kevin - the staff were wonderful. Hopefully I will go back again one day. Superb A lack of outside ashtrays - which meant the grounds could become unsightly with cig ends - although I doubt this would be allowed to happen - the attention to detail is very good.

What a wonderful surprise finding this gem tucked away in the Scottish countryside. The hotel is luxurious, yet personal and friendly, and the decor is traditional and stylish. Our bedroom had views over the large and immaculate garden. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and Kevin is the most perfect host. We had several meals there and all were excellent. Breakfast is generous and prepared with care. We loved our stay here and would happily recommend this hotel to fellow travelers. We will return. There is nothing we did not like, we had a great stay.
