The Columbia Hotel  

Hotel was comfortable and clean, breakfast good also. Staff friendly and attentive. Location is a bit out of town centre but taxi's are easily available and costs around £3.30 into town centre. Hotel is being refurbished but noise is kept to a minimum.

I found the Columbia suited my stay very well. I needed somewhere to stay overnight whilst working for the E.C.b doing some Cricket assessments. Although a little out of the way, the room was excellent tea and coffee was available in the room, shower room and T.v were again excellent. The best part of my stay was I must admit was breakfast when the staff could not have done more for me, I do not eat eggs or mushrooms so the staff offered me more Bacon and Sausages to compensate, very kind of the staff and very much appriciated.

The hotel is in need of some Decoration as it's looking a bit tired in places.

Excellent buffet breakfast. Tea/coffee in room.

Insuffecient tables for all guests at breakfast time. 3 couples had to share a table for 6 and two couples walked out! Had to request toast.

Nice big bathroom

Breakfast - had to ask for coffee machine to be refilled, then wait for it to filter, had to ask for glass for orange juice, had to ask for bread/toast, no fried eggs. Overall, service and content was poor!

The room was ok , bathroom a bit jaded, but I understand that they are on a refurbishment project, my 2 colleagues had had their rooms refurbed.

The beds were really uncomfortable and the hotel was soo noisy at night you could hear when anyone moved around their rooms back and forth back and forth, there was no hairdrier or shower cap which is usually standard. We had no lights in our room on our return at 10pm and had to wait 25 mins for the light to be replaced in the bathroom and had to wait at the reception for 15 mins as no one about eventually had to change the bulb in the bedroom our selves! Also on arrival found that the payment had already been taken the day before! This has never happened when I have stayed anywhere else! I thought the price charged £85 was quite steep compared to say premier inn who have superior facilities at a much more competitve rate we only stayed here as we could not get in anywhere else . I will not stay here agaan
