The only plus for this filthy run-down hovel was the proximity to the Corrie tour at Granada studios
It was filthy! We stayed in room 5 and the tv didn't work, there was no hot water, there was mould in the bathroom, the sink leaked, the cups were cracked, the window frame had rotted away, and was also permanently open, there were stains on the wall, the door was flimsy and not a proper fire door, the towels were threadbare and ragged. There was an awful musty smell. The whole place should be condemned, do not stay here!!
location was excellent, staff were friendly, beds were comfortable and clean. We all had a lovely hot shower whenever we wanted one
property looked a bit tired on the inside, but it appears that some renovation is being attended to
The Commercial Hotel is situated in a very up market street with the shopping area within walking difference. That's it's only good points!
On driving down Liverpool road there is a derelict building right at the bottom, the commercial is part of this building! The whole building should be condemned in my eyes, there's broken windows at the side and other windows are boarded up with wood. The rooms are not very clean my TV had one working channel, I slept on top of the bed I couldn't go under the covers and I gave the shower a miss due to mould on the walls and wallpaper hanging off. The couple who own/run the hotel are extremely nice but it doesn't quite compensate the run down feeling of the place.
Did the job, bed and wash facilities!
Leaving in the morning
The fact I have been charged an extra £20. I've stayed in some grim hostels and this place made then look 5*. The worst hotel I've stayed in. I wouldn't cheap out. It's not worth saving a few pennies
Easy parking and convenient to all the places we had planned on visiting.
The whole place was very dirty broken windows, shabby broken dirty furniture, Towels and bedding out of date and very dirty and worn. There was boxes stored in every empty place that could be found such as deliveries of toilet rolls, bleach, crisp boxes and peanuts that were out of date. The whole building had paint peeling off all the walls inside and out the wallpaper was very stained on all of the walls all the skirting boards were thick with dirt. The environment health people should be called and the place should be closed down. Such a shame as it could be a great place as the building is old but very neglected.
Friendly atmosphere, comfy bed, nice big TV, easy entry if you return late to the hotel. It was nice to see an old pub building put to good use. Great shower unit.
Parts of the hotel were in a small state of disrepair. The shower was very small.
staff very friendly
not enough hot water
This place feels like a 20th century throwback and I love it for that. Obviously they do have mod-cons like free wi-fi, but the decor and bar downstairs feel pretty retro. It's also cheap and convenient for Metrolink and Manchester city centre.
The rooms could do with a bit of sprucing up, but perhaps this adds to the old school flavour. Do we expect too much in this era of cheap chain hotel?!
The price was good.
The building was ready to fall down, concerned about electrics in such old building. room doors don't close well, locks are badly fitted.
Location and cheap - had shower and toilet in room - basic facilities but OK for me.
Is in need of total refurb but would then cost twice as much! I wouldn't recommend unless used to backpacking and basic cheap accom
For a room of four for 80 quid it was a bargain, bernie is a top laaaa and it was exactly what i expected. Right next to deansgate locks and would definatly visit again. Best hotel ive stayed at in england.
Nothing it was boss
Location was excellent as we were there for a gig at Castlefield Bowl - it was a 2 minute walk away. For the price the room was good, it was spacious and comfortable. Nice bathroom with a full size bath. Wifi was ok in public areas only. I noticed a lot of bad reviews about the tv not working but I never even tried to turn it on so can't comment on that.
Only complaint is that parking is advertised at £4.50 PER STAY but it was actually £10 PER NIGHT! The nice lady who let us in said they may have put the prices up because of the gig but the parking attendant said it is always £10 a night so if you are staying more than 1 night that is going to increase the price by a lot
The room allowed 4 of us to stay together which in our price bracket the other option is a hostel. This was £20 pp per night but it's a poor standard and was worse than I could have imagined.
I was later than the advised check in time andvwas still greeted warmly the room was clean and comfy.
Lumpy pillows and not sure if I could shut the open window.
erm.... the location was good, beside Castlefield Bowl where we were attending a gig. Oh and down the road from a really lovely bar called Oxnoble.
What do i start with??? Place was dirty, dead insects in bathroom, somebody elses hair in shower, holes in every wall, place is proper creepy, stains on the bed covers, old uncomfortable beds, walls covered in stains - looked like vomit, blood, drinks, dirt. Place is not good. You really do get what you pay for and I will never pay such a low price again.
the floor is tilted like the leaning tower in Pisa,Italy
The rooms and beds were dirty. Found bugs on the bed, suspected to be bed bugs. One of my family members developed a series of insect bites on her body after discovering bugs on her bed the next morning. Toilets were mouldy as well. Definitely not returning to this hotel
VERY SCRUFFY DIRTY HOTEL SMASHED WINDOWS, ROTTEN WINDOW FRAMES DIRTY DRAPES AND THIS WAS ONLY FROM THE OUTSIDE
Located near the centre of town. On street parking available.
Located too near the main line rail network with trains operating until late at night. Decorating dated, unable to close the bedroom window to ease the outside noise. Too few power points for chargers in room. En suite cramped.
Not clean and smelly.
The bed was very comfortable
Room a bit dowdy in need of decoration soap was well used and no replacement toilet roll one there over half way down cups were cracked only hand towel no good for after showering np phone tv dodnt work staff not around much only saw at arriving
Nice reception by the owner who appears to be running the facility himself.
Wonderful old place, even if needing some upgrading.
TV not fully functional.
