Everything. Single bed was tiny with a hankerchief sized duvet. The decor was like something out of the Life of Grime TV series. New fire alarm system installed and neglected to remove the old one so lots of redundant fire alarm points taped up. Fire door held open by fire extinguisher. The main reception was literally in the bar area. Peeling wall paper, gaping holes in walls and ceilings. Classic 10 watt light bulb hotel. Appalling en-suite bathroom which was just a bit bigger that a telephone box with a shower that you could not turn around in. I am not convinced that it would pass a Health & Safety Fire Inspection and I am positive that HM Prisions would not allow it to be used as a bail hostel. But what do you expect for £27.50.
Bed linen was clean.

Where do I start. I am amazed that this has the audacity to call itself a hotel. The place is literally falling to pieces on the top floor where we stayed, damp, peeling wallpaper, smells of smoke, dirty bathroom, broken window, room door which wouldn't make any resident feel safe, fire alarm taped up and out of service, furniture looks like it came out of a job lot nobody wanted, bathroom door broken....

Didn't get beyond the front door! I was to meet some friends visiting from Iceland and they had pre-booked. They couldn't face staying there either so we left our room deposits behind and went up the road to The Ox!
It's given me something to talk about!

Nice location. Handy out.

Ok I know everyone's different, but they really should fork out on some new mattresses, we were both struggling with our backs the next day and that's never happened before. Bathroom was in need of a cash injection too (the toilet literally came away from the wall when you sat on it, and we're not big!), peeling seals round the shower, etc. Just shabby. Only a couple of sheets of loo roll provided, so we had to use tissues. Spend a bit of money doing the place up and it might be worth £40 to stay there. Sorry :/
Location perfect, easy to find, and in a good spot close to Deansgate Station. The pub downstairs is a proper pub, good old fashioned establishment! Simple door code process so we could come and go as we please no matter the time. Tea/coffee provisions in the room was a bonus in the morning.

staff very cooperative

I loved the ambiance. It was very casual and comfortable. A sweet but imperfect place for anyone who doesn't need much. Easy for the solo traveler who desires no attention or a couple who just want to be left to enjoy each other by a warm fire.

The hotel needs a lot of work. The floor in the bathroom is rotten, the carpets have disintegrated and the beds and bedding needs replacing.
4 April 2015
The smell, the damp, the broken toilet seat, the cracked mugs the décor, the carpets, the staff smoking in the bar when we returned after a night out, the knackered window that was nailed shut, the 25 year old TV and the price.
Leaving. It's close to a nice area.

Great wifi and nice bar with open fire

Everywhere was so shabby! Two of the three cups were cracked. The water was barely warm. The sink had no plug in it. The TV did not work properly. No receiots offered for payment.

old room with flaking paint ,hotel needs total renovation.
29 March 2015
Outside was a mess, boarded up windows, dirty walls and a notice on door to call a mobile number to gain access! Hotel's cancellation policy meant that even though we arrived at 1pm we still had to pay, but wasn't going to stay there.
Didn't stay there went up the road.
28 March 2015
Steep narrow stairs, don't take a big suitcase
28 March 2015
Avery untidy run down excuse for a hotel.
26 March 2015
Very outdated facilities, single glazed windows, old lumpy beds, old fat TV, not the cleanest of places, old bathroom.
Good location, 5-7 mins walk from the heart of the city. Priced cheaper than most others nearby.

Basic would be an understatement. From cigarette ends in the drawers to no soap and a bed that smelt of cigarettes to the drawers without bottoms. O.K. if you've nowhere else to go.
17 March 2015
Uncomfortable dirty beds, dirty bed linen, and generally very dirty room. Falling to pieces
Dirty beds, weird sliding door to enter en suite with no catch at bottom to hold it, damp on the ceiling, the place is basically falling to bits, and it appears there's no money to renovate. I especially like the tinsel hanging above the tv to prevent you from seeing the damp and rotting wallpaper behind in the main bar. No good unfortunately.

- Hairs and empties in bathroom upon arrival - Lock on door didn't seem very secure - Toilet flush very loud! - WiFi not very reliable
+ Comfortable bed + Plenty of hot water + Room had a double bed despite reserving only a single

Can't think of anything.
Perfect, would have paid more. These people who give bad reviews if you want the Hilton, well then pay for the Hilton. The commerical does what it says on the tin, a good nights sleep.
3 March 2015
Dirty room, stained walls, divans and carpets, holes in walls, dangerous looking electrics (hanging from light within the bathroom), no ventilation, leaking toilet.
A nice owner
