Nothing! Dirty. Old. Uncomfortable beds. Worst shower in the world! There was a party going on until 1.30am, with the noise traveling to the fourth floor where we were trying to sleep with a baby in the room. We didn't get very much sleep that night. Plus, random alarms going off in the hallway. Other guests having domestics in the opposite room. The lift was the slowest I have ever been in. Waited almost 10 mins for it, and there are only 4 floors, but we had a pushchair so couldn't use the stair. It would have been much quicker to walk, even carrying the pushchair up the stairs myself. Carpet in the rooms needed a good clean, didn't want to take my shoes off. We were a group of 12 altogether, and not one of us had a good thing to say about the hotel. Would have been better to stay in a travelodge for the same money. Need I say more.

Well the price of this hotel was really good and the room sizes were good as well. The bathroom was clean and the design of the room was not outdated. Also free car parking which is also a plus as well. Good for the price. Well I booked the hotel on new years eve and waited nearly an hour to be checked in to my room. On getting my room key the receptionist gave us the wrong key as we entered a room that was already occupied! Once we finally got to our room the room was very cold and the radiator would not turn on also the tv really needs updating! Although the Walls of the room are really thin as I was awoke at 5 in the morning by an argument from the other guests. When the toilets are flushed it makes a weird loud sound and you are able to hear this noise from other guests toilets! I guess this hotel is what you pay for the price. I would personably not stay at this hotel if I was staying more than one night I would rather pay a little bit extra and stay at the premier inn by the train station! Also the lifts took ages!!

Especially the bathroom The radio cranked and rattled intermittently for the duration of my stay. It was so loud at one point I ended a phone call Walls were so thin I heard couple next door copulating regularly Bed springs digging into me - highly uncomfortable

The breakfast was ok apart from that the place was a disgrace. As a disabled person the hotel has absolutely no faccilities what so ever, There was no offer of help with my bags, to get to my room it was like an assault course to get to, I had to battle my way through a function room in complete darkness, there were boxes of envelopes everywhere, tables in front of the door throiugh which I had to get throught to get to my room, there were no hande rails in the toilet in my room and no alarm pull in case I got into difficulties. Just as well I never had to use that faccility it didnt exist.

It was close to the city centre and football ground, and fairly close to the racecourse. We arrived mid-afternoon and the room allocated to us hadn't been cleaned. Even when it had been, it was not clean except for the main parts: shower, toilet, washbasin, bathroom floor, bed and bedroom floor; the TV, window frames and ledges and other furniture was in need of a good dust. Breakfast choice was very limited and we had to ask for fruitjuice glasses, cereal bowls and sideplates. There was no spare cutlery or serviettes, the meal plates were cold and the coffee was tepid. Jugs of fruitjuice and jugs of tea, coffee and hot water were not labelled, so it was all guess-work as to what was in them.

American Bar by reception area well decorated and good layout. The breakfast bar downstairs at entrance bar next to coffee table needs refurbishing.Breakfast lady offered good customer service and very attentive. Hotel Room:Very basic. No remote for TV.Carpet not clean.Bathroom is a death trap as electrical wires under sink exposed, visible to children.massive health and safety danger.Towel rail loose.Flooring dirty in corners and around toilet.Shower glass guard not flush with bath tub, hence water flooded entire bathroomThe hotel smells mouldy and is a nightmare. Not good considering its location and city status. The state of this hotel may give a clue to who the owners are.

The hotel was very tired and run down. For £54 for a family room I suppose I couldn't grumble.I would not want to stay in the hotel again. The pictures of the hotel were totally wrong. The pictures need to be updated to show a true picture.

small minimalist rooms looking a little tired and in need of a re vamp, the inside of the hotel didnt do the exterior any favours.ie fur coat no knickers.Having said that i didnt expect much more for£50.the room was comfortable we slept well it was quiet and it was close to the town centre,it just requires modernising to match the exterior.

Location Poor parking, double bed was in fact 2 single beds of different heights with hard ridge between, able to hear conversations in next door room, room doors slam so awoken by other guests several times during night, problem with water system - frequently very loud noise for about 15 seconds, in-room information told me to dial '0' for reception but no phone in my room, could not read terms and conditions when booking in because the stamp that had been used to put them on paper was obviously faulty anf only touching the paper around the it's edges............

The staff were friendly and helpful. We checked in very late, and the night porter Michael looked after us and opened the bar so that we could have a drink with some friends. The following day we were running late again, but leaving the room over an hour late did not seem to be a problem. The room was spacious and well equipped, and there was plenty of free car parking. The only problem was that the heating in our room was not working, but this was solved by the provision of a fan heater.

Breakfast was very good - ready by 7.30 on a Sunday morning and more than adequate for us. The beds were clean, as were the bathroom towels. Perfectly good value for money overall - it was only £49 after all. Pillows were very 'bouncy' 'dunlopillo' style. Bathroom not as clean as it might have been. Corridors smelled of smoke despite no-smoking signs. Took a while to check in, but there were 26 of us. The onyl real gripe is that the information folder said that receiption could provide toothbrushes, paste etc but when I asked the reception staff said that they didn;t do that anymore and hadn't since it was a Best Western hotel - they should update their brochure.

Worst hotel stayed in On checkin my room was on the 4th floor the lift doors open very slowly & need to be pushed open and I had to walk past a reception room to access my room. This reception room was full of chairs and tables and did not offer a clear route to my room (which could be a potential fire hazard if need to exit the building in case of a fire). On day 1 had to explain to restaurant staff that I had prebooked my meals (they did not seem to know that you could do this), I asked for 3 types of drinks which they had run out of and when ordering meals from the extensive menu they did not have any (I was the first guest to eat that night). The main meal contained a piece of metal foil. The dessert took 50minutes to come after ordering. On the 2nd night the starter took an hour to arrive (other guests recieved mains before starters) there was a long black hair in my main. I decided not to eat at hotel again even though I had prepaid. Third night the lift smelt of cannabis. Fourth night at 10.25pm heard shouting outside in car park it was one of waitresses shouting down a mobile phone for 5 minutes whilst waiting to get in a car (as an employee they should be accountable for their actions whilst still on premises). In the morning at 5.45 the dustbin lorry stayed in car park for 15minutes with engine running (presumable whilst driver was having a break) and as a guest paying for a good nights sleep this is unaccaptable practice and could lose hotel business. Was the worst hotel I have stayed.

Good value/location for my needs. My one night stay was spoiled because the hotel: a). failed to give me an opportunity to cancel given that they were aware there was a large wedding party in their function room that night. b). more importantly - they then allocated us a room immediately above the function room. The radiators and furniture were literally jumping in time to the music which went on to 1 a.m.. c). The plumbing was noisy beyoond reason - any toilet flushed in the buidling caused a loud noise like a dying cow! To be fair - I was re-allocated a 'distant' room on complaining at 11p.m.
