Coquetvale Hotel  

Spacious and warm room. Quiet location and access to a restaurant for an evening meal which unlike some hotels has got atmosphere and ambience.

Convenient for Cragside.

Shabby carpet creates poor impression, but overall accommodation was acceptable.

Staff very helpful. Excellent evening meal in restaurant. Room was "Craster" - very comfortable and although did not use, the price for the wine in the room was very reasonable.

I found the staff to be really helpful and very friendly. The hotel was in a great setting and really good value for money. We were on a short cycling trip and are already thinking of booking the Coquetvale Hotel next year, it was excellent.

Our bedroom was huge as was the bathroom. We got fantastic views across to the village. The breakfast was exceptional with all you could wish for. The food in the Italian Restuarant was presented nicely, cooked to perfection and was hot. Very popular with hotel guests and locals. We chose this hotel for it's close proximity to the Nat Trust property Cragside House & gardens.

The hotel doesn't have great 'kerb appeal'. The hotel is very old, but they have tried to make it cosy with all facilities you would expect of a good standard of hotel, however our room was definately in need of an update - the carpet was going thread bare in places. It was beginning to look dated and tired.

Restaurant is always good, comfortable atmosphere, friendy staff.

Attic room was cold, used two extra heaters.

The greeting on arrival, the overall friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. The great location.

The bathroom was quite cold as no heating and a draft from the old fashioned casement window. But as a listed building difficult to rectify however it was an exceptional cold night. However, the front of house manager did everything possible to help and brought room heaters.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed and as it was an old house it made se very odd sounds throughout the night, nothing too bad though.

The noise, it was so noisey the worse we have ever stayed in. It is an old building with no sound proofing and every floorboard creeks and you can hear everything, plus we were on the front overlooking the car park where all you could hear was car doors slamming. They moved us to the back of the hotel after the first night which was nearly as bad as we were over the kitchen and all we could hear were people going to the dustbins banging the lids and the cold store door slamming so loud it shook the room. So do not stay in room 2 or room 9. I suspect all the rooms are noisy though.

Very friendly staff. Large rooms. Excellent individually cooked breakfasts. Excellent restaurant with large choice on menu. Immediate action taken upon a problem

First room was short of electrical plugs so had to share electric fire, hairdryer and kettle between one plug. Complained and within 5 minutes had changed rooms.

Friendly helpful staff, large comfortable, warm room. Quiet location. Lovely food in Italian restaurant ( in hotel) and breakfast very nice with good choice. Would visit again.

Coquetvale is a welcoming hotel with comfortable rooms, very good food and friendly staff.

Room 1 could do with a dressing table

Everything was wonderful. The room was lovely, the food in the restaurant was fab, the staff were marvellous and the area was too. It was also very reasonably priced. We are definitely going to return to this hotel.

The fridge in the room was noisy but on the second night we solved it by just switching it off. Sorted.

Staff were excellent - a key feature in fact.Good sized room. Good bath. Room views were good too. Restaurant menu had good selection and variety and quality of food was excellent. Clear final bill. Breakfast was good quality.

Shower was weak and took ages to heat up. TV had only limited freeview channels via Sky. Stair carpet was very dirty so gave bad first impression - rest of hotel was clean though. They could invest in better quality tea bags at breakfast and in the rooms.

lovely hotel with excellent staff ,made to feel at home nothing to much trouble,breakfast was excellent and we had our evening meals in the italian restaurant well worth the money

Staff were really good. Gina is very attentive and an excellent restaurant manager. Italian restaurant was beyond our expectations and very busy.

Stair carpet to 1st floor is off putting initially, due to people walking in with muddy shoes.
