Nestled in the town centre of the historic town of Taunton, the Salisbury House Hotel is a family-owned, independent hotel.
Score from 223 reviews Very good
Good location, convenient to town centre and surrounding areas. Staff were welcoming, we felt very comfortable during our four night stay.
good location for our overnight stay, breaking our journey to cornwall.spotlessly clean and staff most obliging. excellent breakfast
Staff friendly and helpful
The room was in an annex along a tatty path and through a door which was badly decorated. Felt like you were entering some old terraced house. Room decor also tired and not the cleanest. The layer of dust on the top of the radiator showed it hadn't been cleaned for years. Mostly the room was clean though...just tatty in the detail. £100 a night for this ...just not good value. £50 maybe.
The food and staff
The size of the room and a number of the prices of equipment did not work ie bathroom light and heating
1)The "power" of the shower in my room wasn't great! Certainly enough to wash under, but it didn't make taking a shower enjoyable! 2) The (old) window in my room didn't shut tightly enough to keep out the sound of the traffic, which to be fair, wasn't that heavy
good location for centre of the town and has its own bar and wine collection. Free car parking on site
its ready for a makeover in the bedroom and corridor parts
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room comfortable ..I ate on saturday and sunday in restaurant and had really good meals.
At weekend when fully booked, there were difficulties when a large number arrived for breakfast at the same time causing a queue to form. Similarly by sunday a number of items on menu had run out..I know some of the more unusual may be difficult to order but Ham?!!!! this was a shame as the standard of food in the restaurant was very good.
The hotel was clean & had good bar & resturant facilities? Free WI -fi available all over the hotel. 10 minutes walk from the town & bus station. Free car parking during our stay there was ample car parking stay. Narrow exit. Staff friendly. Would stay again as plenty to see & do in Taunton
Noise from kitchen early morning & Evening
we like the food although a bit expensive, the staff friendly and well organized , the bed room small but compact and clean , and the bed very comfortable ,and the room very warm , good car park ,and will stay again if ever we are that way .
there was nothing to dislike
There was nothing to dislike, the staff were helpful, the room was clean and homely and the food was exceptional.
Difficult car park
The wait for breakfast was longer than that expected for the amount of staff present. However there seemed to be a lack of organisation. The meal itself was to a high standard.
Location of hotel is convenient for a short walk into town. Room was spacious and tidy. Good wifi reception throughout.
Having to wait up to 15 minutes to be seated for breakfast on one of the mornings.
The hotel restaurant and the bedrooms had fresh milk and chilled water in the fridge free
All was fine no problems
The gothic architecture Location for our requirements Free car park. The choice of wine's Good breakfast.
Narrow access to parking area. No ground floor toilet.
We stayed in Room 4, this was a lovely big room. Although at front there wasn't to much road noise even with window open. Bed was really comfy.
Breakfast could have been a lot better, and coffee wasn't the best (rubbish really) maybe they should change their brand.
Everything was good and staff friendly
Only one thing let it down but not a disaster if you are down later for breakfast you may have to wait to get into the dining room as there is not enough seats for every guest in one sitting it takes about 40/60 in one hit at a guess ,. So get up out of bed and go have a lovely breakfast Sausages are brill ;-)
Yes the car park was problematic, but good once inside. WE had a compact room at the top of the hotel and it lived up to its name, but it was economic.
Room was a little small
Food was good and the staff and the staff very helpfulsa
To many stairs for our age group, but it was only a minor consideration
The cleanliness of the room and bathroom, together with the excellent facilities of the latter.
Being charged £10.00 for poached eggs on toast is not a good way to encourage guest to stay for breakfast, especially when there are a wide choice of alternatives within a short distance.
Staff are very polite and helpful. Bar and restaurant area really nice. Free wifi which is always good. Real milk in the rooms is as welcome touch. Food is good.
Drinks are overpriced in my opinion. Nearly £6 for a gin and tonic seemed a bit steep. Having stayed a few times some rooms are very nice, some need some tlc and let it down.
Easy to find, easy to park, restaurant meal was very good and not too expensive, the bed was comfortable and slept well, and finally the shower worked as a shower should. Only stayed one night but overall very impressed and was good value for the money.
Is located on a fairly busy junction, not certain what this would be like in rush hour.
The staff were very nice/helpful and the room was clean ... nice touch that there was freash milk provided and not UHT. The breakfast was lovely :-) something for everybody needs .. Brilliant
The bed was a hard for me, but then you can't please everybody.
