Clean, pleasant, well equipped room, good food, friendly staff. No shaver socket! Really awkward entry and exit to the car park - not helped by poor parking from other guests. Small cars only!

What did you like about The Corner House Hotel? Nothing, one of the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. On my arrival attitude of reception staff was very poorly all he was interested in was my credit card. I have booked through “Booking.com” cost was £80.00 but on arrival I was told to pay £99.00, although I have tried to explain that I have already paid £80 online he did not response, didn’t even bother to look at me. Well, I thought I will deal with this later as I was feeling exhausted after long journey from London and heavy raining outside all I wanted was a bed. I was given a bedroom on the top floor of the hotel (no lift), condition of room was poorly not what I seen on the website. The bed was like an inflatable I don’t think the mattress has been changed for years. I can go on writing about this hotel but unfortunately nothing positive to say and by the way don’t even bother trying their food.

A good in-house restaurant with a wide wine selection. The number of stairs involved in access anywhere. I am mobility limited and we had to climb up 20 steps, then down 4 steps and up 16 steps to our bedroom. Then to dinner the same twice. Lots of steps should be noted on your website.

The cleaning staff were very friendly and the room well cleaned. Better than the reception staff. The car park of this Hotel is dangerous and frustrating. Luckily we did not damage our car but were late for a dinner engagement due to the inability to manoeuvre the exit, not just us but many guests. Plus the drive was full of pot holes. . Especially difficult because someone had parked too close to the exit. The parking needs rearranging and clearly marking. The Hotel stairs were difficult to the third floor where we had our room and quite dangerous. A warning to any infirm persons should be given. Room mediocre but clean and adequate.

Quirky building with character. Although on a large corner plot there is a sense of intimacy about the hotel. Although a good price and value, my advertised 'compact double' was really a single with a double bed. Suitable for one person but would have felt cramped / claustrophobic with two in the room.

Initially, the fact that there had been a mistake in booking online - and the Booking.com rep. Corrected it within a couple of minutes. Excellent service. I was able to get the £25 offer - and that was truly great value. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Not a complaint, but I wish the cellar had not been 'out of order'. Draught real ales would have been brilliant. The stairs to the 2nd floor were a little steep and narrow.

I was amazed to get a room for £39, and was surprised at how big the room was for that price. The room was very clean and the bed was lovely and comfortable. And the large bottle of water in the fridge was a nice touch too. I only have a few little moans, but nothing to worry about. The sink didn't drain away very well - I think you may need to get a plunger to it at some point. I couldn't get any hot water out of the tap in the sink, so ended up shaving in the shower. Oddly though, after my shower, I did manage to get hot water out of the sink tap. Very strange. And the only other 'problem' was that I couldn't get many channels on the TV. I got the main channels (BBC1/2, ITV1, CH4 & 5) but couldn't get many of the others - they all said 'weak or no signal'. As I say, these are not major problems, and won't stop me staying at the Corner House again. I was in Room 6, by the way.

Facilities in the room were excellent E.g fresh milk in fridge and a mini bar too plus iron and ironing board. Bed was very comfortable and clean. Food in the restaurant (which itself has a really nice atmosphere and ambience about it) was great. Can highly recommend trying the sausage and mash, fantastic variety of sausage to choose from and high quality food well presented. Nothing really, very happy with our stay there and would stay again.

The restaurant attached to Hotel is very good, food of a high standard and service was good too. The room I stayed in was in the annex - entrance hall to annex smells of damp and was not pleasant. My room was basic and small, very noisy plumbing. The decor was in need of updating/refreshing. It's a shame as I have stayed here about six months ago and my experience was very different - perhaps it's because I was in the annex this time - not a great stay I'm afraid

Excellent breakfast. Although difficult to find the entrance (one way system) it was good to having parking facilities. Staff dealt with a key problem immediately.

The location was perfect for us - just around the corner from my sister's house. We were upgraded, free of charge to a 'standard' room rather than the compact room we booked. The overall design and architecture of the building (an old church?) is very nice. Good 24 hour reception / access. We were a little disappointed our room wasn't made up after our first night's stay (we stayed two nights) - we arrived back late to our room on the second day to the room as we'd left it that morning! - ie an unmade bed, slightly damp towels and toiletries not replenished, which was a bit disappointing. Window's a bit rattly in the wind (fixed with folded up paper!)

The only comment I have is that the room was extremely hot. We had the radiator turned off and the window opened all night and we were still very warm.

Easy access to hotel with car park. Friendly welcome at reception. Good facilities in room including cold water, fresh milk, biscuits, coffee and tea. Good size room with TV and comfortable bed. Hotel in good position in town and access from A38. Bathrooms not as clean as they should be. Some serving staff seemed stressed and not friendly.
