When treating yourself to that little bit more than usual, why not experience one of our superior rooms? Room 4 offers a sea view and a comfortable sitting area, whilst room one, on the ground floor, offers a Japanese-style soaking tub for 2. New for 2008, we have added a deluxe room (room 2) that combines the standards of the superior rooms with the luxury of your own in-room 2-person infrared sauna.
Paignton is so centrally located in the West Country that business people often stay to take advantage of our specific business facilities, which include Japanese translation, fax and photocopying services and meeting and training rooms. We are able to cater for small board and management meetings. Simply tell us what you need and we will work out a way to help you, using our industry contacts where necessary.
Parking:
There is limited car parking (2 spaces) at The Cosmopolitan and Blue Badge holders take priority.
Unrestricted, free, on-street parking is available between October and April.
Between May and September, parking is limited to one hour between 08:00 and 18:00, and during these months, we recommend the multi-storey car park at the top of Garfield Road, just round the corner, where necessary. There is a 24-hour charge, and a reasonable overnight fee (from 18:00 to 09:00).
However, you can park outside overnight, on the opposite side of the street, between 17:00 and 09:00 the following morning, without restriction or charge, between May and September.
For longer stays, you may wish to purchase a weekly ticket. Visit the Torbay Council website for further details.
A good alternative is a pub car park, which is situated almost opposite us (The Spinning Wheel). There is an additional cost for all day parking, and the car park is usually locked at night.
Breakfast is reputed to be the most important meal of the day and at The Cosmopolitan, you can be sure that we won't stint on quality or on quantity. Whatever you have planned, the generous and tasty breakfast is a great way to start your day.
You can select coffee or tea, brown or white toast, a full English breakfast or a variation thereof. You can also help yourself to cereals, juices, yogurts and fruit.
Breakfast is available daily between 08:00 and 09:00 in the charming dining room.
The dining room was formerly the hotel’s lounge and its extensive refurbishment reflects the modern style that we have introduced throughout the premises, with stylish, comfortable high-back leather chairs and rubber-wood tables with chrome bases. The modern oil paintings on the walls are all originals and add colour to our standard decor of white walls and cinnamon-coloured carpets.
The hotel is licensed to serve alcohol and there is an extensive list of alcoholic beverages available, which we will be happy to serve directly to your room.
Many couples celebrating a special occasion choose to have a chilled bottle of champagne waiting in their room on check-in. Please contact the hotel directly for more information, using the contact details supplied on your confirmation email.
The rooms are pure and simple by design. The hotel opted for white walls and cinnamon carpets as the base colours for the rooms, and added colour and texture with soft furnishings and original artwork and prints.
The effect is to create a peaceful, relaxing, almost serene, environment, that enhances the natural light available in the building.
Naturally each bedroom offers all the usual accessories and facilities you would expect from an establishment of this quality and it is in the little details that the hotel’s singular charm shines through. Each room has a TV with Freeview digital channels, luxury toiletries and bathroom products and a refreshment tray with a generous selection of refreshments including bottled mineral water and jasmine, herbal and green teas.
As you spend a third of your life in bed, you need a good quality mattress, so the hotel has invested heavily in new beds and mattresses and are pleased that their guests often comment on how comfortable they are.
As you would expect in a building of this age, all of the rooms are different in size and shape but what they all have in common are modern furnishings and fully refurbished en suite bathrooms, with fully tiled walls, heated towel rails and new showers and sanitary ware.
Because we are just yards from the main Paignton beach, many of our guests enjoy days relaxing and taking in the atmosphere of a bustling seaside resort. Others, with more energy, take boat rides, donkey rides or hire pedaloes and enjoy the various other leisure activities and pastimes that Paignton has to offer.
There is lots to see and do locally and Paignton is also the home of the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, which is a must-see for steam enthusiasts and the casual observer alike. Paignton Zoo is the third largest zoo in the UK.
If you travel just a little further afield, there is Cockington country park, Babbacombe’s model village, the caves of Kents Cavern and much, much more.
The Cosmopolitan is centrally located near Paignton’s pier and the Esplanade.
