Stayed there for my sons Pass Off at Catterick. Thank you to Tony and everyone else including the regulars for a great 2 nights. Tony, the black pudding made it safely back to Belfast.
Really friendly, lovely place.
Tony the host very friendly his B&B made you feel so relaxed and welcoming and the locates also, will be making trip back forsure!!! The food in restaurant food great and the morning. Breakfast was very good and not rushed felt like being back home!!! Services number 1
Evening meals excellent Lesley was particularly hospitable and friendly. Very friendly locals.
Breakfast was not served with the same enthusiasm as evening meal. Heating erratic, room was at times cold with no way of turning heating on.
Handy stopover near Richmond. Nice choice of local ales to sample, and reasonably priced food to order. Log fire a nice touch. Room size ok, but getting in to the wardrobe a little difficult being so close to the bed. Hospitality tray included cafetiere and filter coffee, with the offer of proper milk if we preferred.
A little hard to find in the dark. Furniture in the bar a little worn and dated.
Location was excellent, we were over for our only Son's Pass Off Parade at itc Catterick, just ten minutes away. The Inn was ideal, clean, friendly staff and owner, peaceful, perfect! Food was 100%
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was of a very high standard and great value for money. The rooms had all you would need in them and was very well laid out, however still with plenty of room Plenty of parking space for there needs
The room was a bit load at the night time but I believe this was just cause we where over the bar
Friendly host and staff, good ale, very good value food.
Breakfast was served 40 minutes later than the agreed time, making us late for our event.
Spacious room and en-suite
Couldn't book in before 6 Not clean enough eg.dirty spoon at breakfast. Above pub so evening bit noisy
The staff were very kind and friendly, the atmosphere was homely and welcoming, car parking was good and secure, we could come and go as we pleased, and we had a really pleasant stay and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.
There could have been a small shower basket attached in the shower cubicle for shampoo and soap. The bed was right up against the wall which meant that my husband had to climb out the bottom of the bed during the night for the toilet and the curtains did not quite meet over the window.
The staff were more than welcoming when we first arrived. I was totally shocked by the room, it is a modern room with original features that was decorated beautifully. More than money for value! Breakfast had to be short as we needed to leave early, but we had an optional between cereal and fresh toast. It is in the ideal location if you have a loved one passing out of the Garrision as it is only 5 minutes away. Would have loved to stay longer.
Good feeling relaxed and good food and drink.
comfort, attentiveness of owner, large room, extra nice coffee/tea in room, dinner, breakfast, quiet (weekday), friendly
Lovely pub which was a good mix of old fashion cosy with it's fire place and wood beams and decor but a modern touch for the restaurant and rooms. Great breakfast and good beer!! Excellent if you want a quiet country brea!
We have no real complaints... A few spiders amongst the old beams... Scary.
The Inn has character and ideally situated in a small village. Friendly staff who will go out of their way to please. The menu offers a delightful and tasty array of food. The rooms are spotless, comfortable and surprisingly spacious. We will be visiting again !
Poor mobile signal, but that affects the village and has nothing to do with the Countryman's Inn.
Tony & Staff were very helpful & friendly. Room was clean, small double bedded with small en-suite. Hospitality tray & hair dryer. Had an evening meal downstairs in the pub which was good pub grub. Breakfast good.
Steep stairs TV on wall above the wardrobes, difficult to watch unless lying down or sitting on the only seat in the room. Wifi poor Small enclosed shower
Very friendly and helpful staff in particular the owner. Rooms are of a good standard and definitely value for money. I did look at other options when I made my booking and this was a cheaper option. However, I was pleasantly surprised and really can't over state that this is value for money. Great location. Good food and drink sold in the Inn and good interaction with the locals who are also very friendly. I will definitely go back and this will automatically be my first choice. Consider this option for an enjoyable experience.
Standard check in time is from 18:00 which is bit late compared to everyone else, so would complete a great package if this could be moved to say 15:00
Convenient location. Quiet, comfortable accommodation. Poor mobile reception in the area meant it was an even more relaxing break than expected!
We chose to stay at the Countryman's Inn on our way back to Blackpool from the Cruise Terminal in Newcastle. We enjoyed the very atmospheric bar area. Our superior room, number 3 (named after the Matt Peacock, the racehorse trainer) was very modern in comparison, but extremely comfortable. Tony looked after us very well. Our evening meals and breakfasts were very plentiful, but overcooked to our tastes. However, we would not hesitate to stay at this Inn again.
The stay at the Countryman's inn was excellent Good nights sleep, excellent food,Good beer and a very friendly staff
Very comfortable and relaxing large family room and large ensuite. Tony is a very helpful courteous and interested host. Keith and Lesley, the new kitchen operators provided us with lovely meals - went out of their way to provide a meal on our first night even though the kitchen was supposed to be closed! The steaks on the next night were wonderful and as I was GF I also had a good choice of food options.
Even though my husband slept well I thought the mattress could be of a better quality.
A quiet country pub and staff friendly.
Only one cycle helmet for two bikes
Off the beaten track
The food was good pub grub, the staff pleasant, the rooms clean,
nothing to dislike
Great atmosphere, great welcome, really friendly and helpful owner and team. Quality of cooked breakfast and evening meals excellent. A real pleasure to stay there.
