Convenient location. Quiet, comfortable accommodation. Poor mobile reception in the area meant it was an even more relaxing break than expected!
We chose to stay at the Countryman's Inn on our way back to Blackpool from the Cruise Terminal in Newcastle. We enjoyed the very atmospheric bar area. Our superior room, number 3 (named after the Matt Peacock, the racehorse trainer) was very modern in comparison, but extremely comfortable. Tony looked after us very well. Our evening meals and breakfasts were very plentiful, but overcooked to our tastes. However, we would not hesitate to stay at this Inn again.
The stay at the Countryman's inn was excellent Good nights sleep, excellent food,Good beer and a very friendly staff
A quiet country pub and staff friendly.
Only one cycle helmet for two bikes
Off the beaten track
Great atmosphere, great welcome, really friendly and helpful owner and team. Quality of cooked breakfast and evening meals excellent. A real pleasure to stay there.
The owner was really kind and let our young boys stay as extras for the night. The Inn is a proper Country Inn.
Room was small for a superior room. Service at evening meal was a bit unorganised and is the only pub without any wine !
the welcome at 10.44 on a Friday night aah & the beer & friendly locals
Well placed for touring N.Yorks. Food Very good, Exellent beers.
the bar area was good, the landlord was a pleasant man
the breakfast was only average
They helped with our case when we got there. The room was very clean and large . All the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us. The breakfast was lovely a great stay
The food at night was ok but nothing special and it was not cheap, but the service made up for this
Noisy until quite late on Friday eve
Comfortable bed. Great food and friendly staff/owners
clean room nice strong shower
nobody to check me in, just an empty very messy bar, i waited half an hour. Noisy room above the toilets every fan and toilet flush woke me up. Very small room Soap had been used and re wrapped wet. Nobody there to check me out in the morning just another messy bar. No food at all!!!At ALL
All the staff including Tony the landlord were extremely friendly, we arrived to find a music night happening and it was such good fun. All local people who played instruments and just wanted to get together. Excellent.
Excellent country pub, helpfull staff and no noise
The very warm welcome by Tony. His attentiveness during our stay both during Dinner and at breakfast. The breakfast was superb. Our room was perfect for our stay. Would definitely return when travelling this way again.
The evening meal could have been better but sometimes this is down to choice so next time, we would choose differently. Certainly hasn't put us off returning.
friendly - especially as I had 2 small children with me. Food was ok - dinner better than breakfast which was overcooked somewhat. Room was lovely and spacious and there was plenty of car parking space. Good that there were plenty of coffee/tea making items and a luxury to have a cafetiere with good fresh coffee grounds. would stay again.
not their fault but views were not the best. Overlooked the flat roof of the kitchen. the meal had to be paid for separately for some reason so it was just a hassle. A little dear I feel but then it is a seasonal area.
Landlord Tony is definitely 'a character' - and could not have been more accommodating, helpful or welcoming.
Really enjoyed the quiet country pub atmosphere and was my ideal.
Evening meal was an amateur attempt to impress but sadly missed the target. Waitress was pleasant and helpful but needs a better a chef. Landlord was helpful and jovial but I felt the establishment lacked a landlady. Room was good but cleaning lacked.
thoughtful & friendly
I booked a superior douyble expecting a bath, but only got a shower
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, lovely traditional country pub with a peaceful beer garden. Comfy bar with wood burner, particularly liked small touches such as provision of games in the bar. Would recommend and return.
Just personal choice and being a bit picky really, breakfast was lovely and well cooked, but sausage with apple not to our taste, feel plain sausage would be more acceptable to most. Overall the experience was excellent.
The room was modern. Location good. Staff tried to be helpful
Room above bar noisy till 12.30. Breakfast service chaotic. Too expensive for what we got
