Unfortunatly I was booked into a room with stairs up to it, and stairs going down. As I had just had an operation on my achillies tendon it was difficult for me to manage. It was not a problem for the staff, there was only one double left, which was the Duke of Wondsor Suite, we were up-graded for free. We had dinner at the hotel as well as breakfast, and both meals were really nice. It all made for a fantastic stay. One of the ladies that was serving breakfast was extremely grumpy......

Good welcome - booking all in order, paperwork instantly accessed and check in completed in moments. Cleanest hotel room I have stayed in for a while. Despite paying only £45 for my stay (special offer) in a single room, I had a double bed room with tea and coffee making facilities etc. Bed vey comfortable, linen crisp and pillows plumped. Breakfast (incdluded!) was swift, tasty and set me up for the day. Highly recommended for a business trip - excellent value for money. I am not a cushion on bed fan, whilst they looked nice, I threw them off the bed. Bathroom and carpet - whilst scrupulously clean are showing signs of wear....but for the price this is being pernickety.

I was upgraded to another room because tv and heating didn't work. I was given portable heater for the night which made all the difference. I was also charged 20 pounds less for the for the room because of the problem I had with the first room ,which I was very glad. Tv didn't work due to faulty electric wiring in the room. Also central heating didn't work as it was very cold that night. The second room also had problem with heating not coming on.

This hotel stands out from its mainstream counter types, as it offers good old fashioned hospitality. There is nothing that the staff cannot do for you. They are welcoming and very professional! It is was my first time back to the hotel in a few years and I was anxious to see the hotel again, as the online reviews were very negative of recent. Having stayed there, I can report that I feel these reviews are totally unfair and not representative of this fine hotel. It recently has upgraded its bar complex to a sports theme. The menus have been rewritten, the food excellent! The prices of drink and food is simpy not beaten in the local area. The rooms are spotlessly clean, though maybe to some outdated.... But you have flatscreen tv, free internet access, tea, coffee, soaps, shampoo'S... What else can you really need!!! In summary, this hotel is a gem. The staff are its asset.... Thank you to each and everyone of you!!! Just the off-road parking

Very friendly hotel staff, great breakfast. I had really nice time there. If you want a hotel next to Edinburgh city centre this is not the hotel you are looking for..You need 35 minutes by bus to reach city centre and the taxies are too expencive.

1)Tea =coffee facilities in room. 2) en suite facilities. 3) Bar and bar food, plus a restaurant to eat in, in the evening, saves looking around. Lack of parking facilities.

Location, near to family Small rooms chunky beds with large stick out legs which we bumped our feet on when getting up in night and fancy engraved headboard that was full of dust. Breakfast first morning mushrooms & beans cold, complained and next day was a bit better. Last orders for hot meals 8.30pm. No air conditioner so room was hot and too noisy if window was opened as it is on a busy main street.
