Great breakfast and evening restaurant. Our room was at back of hotel, nice and quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Old cathedral very interesting.
Inner city could be a bit dirty but street cleaner were on the job.
The room was nice and clean.
Very noisy from the bar with foul language at all times.
Short stay requirements were met with no complaints would stay again if in the area.
Breakfast wasn't the best
Staff were very helpful and prepared to offer alternatives without being asked.
Staff great ... Good location Great breakfast.... I have paid double the price for less.
Small toilet but no problem
Lovely room with everything you could require, clean, tidy and tasteful. comfortable bed and great view. Staff were very friendly and helpful, as well as being very professional. Could not recommend more highly . Great breakfast too :-) I will return.
breakfast was value for money and waiting staff were excellant
noise at night time from street
cleanliness & location
above a pub
The atmosphere, the breakfast lovely
Bed a little hard
The rooms were excellent, large and comfortable with tea and coffee (and biscuits-quite a luxury these days), lots of towels etc. Food was excellent although we did not have dinner. However, our friends at Aberlady (some miles away) told us that the hotel had a very good reputation for the quality of its cooking.
Parking was difficult. Yellow lines everywhere and pay and display (8.30 - 1800). There was some free on street parking further up the road.
the bedroom door was not lockable from inside so I did not feel secure in room. I had ironing board jammed against door during the night, also when I left room I had to bang door shut before it would lock. It would not lock with key. I was woken up early in morning. (5.45am) with other people banging doors as they went out. Also T V did not work.
Excellelnt location, friendly staff, good vallue for money
No curtains in room only thin blinds and room was hot with no air circulating.
breakfast location friendly staff
room was a bit dated for the price we paid could have been cleaner drink spattered on door / wall in room
Price and Good shower.
Not much it was good value tho decor was a liile shabby
Staff we're courteous and helpful. Room was comfortable. Good cooked breakfast.
No car parking despite what it says on website. Wi-Fi is absolutely rubbish. Evening meal was badly over cooked.
The staff on reception was so helpful and friendly.
Solid hotel, sensibly priced, very good breakfast included
Good clean hotel, friendly helpful staff, only let down by the failure of the wifi to reach the room.
There was no WiFi although it stated there would be. The room was extremely hot and noisy
The room size, bed and shower and good tea making facilities (including a teapot!)
Bathroom could have done with a make over and the heater in the room was a bit dodgy (glad it wasn't needed)
The hotel was chosen because of its proximity to Edinburgh.
A wedding was held during our stay. Noise from the disco went on until midnight. The wedding guests kept us awake until 1 am. Room was very warm. The cost was high for the quality of the hotel
From the moment you enter 'the county' hotel you are welcomed by warm friendly and informative staff. We have used this hotel before and now see it as our second home when we come to scotland to visit family. The location is ideally central for all our needs from visiting family to visiting tourist locations. We love the warm reception from all the staff whether it be the reception, coffee shop or sports bar staff, bigger establishments could learn a thing or two from the 'county' staff, first class!!
No car parking
Value for money was excellent
Could do with just a little bit of TLC
