Free parking is a real bonus when staying in Brighton. Great value for money, although please remember this is not a five star hotel. You get exactly what you pay for. This is our second stay at this hotel and we would come back again.
Some of the day time staff appear to be very disinterested. The hot water supply was not consistent at the time of our stay. We reported this to the receptionist. Some better quality pillows would be good, however we asked for extra pillows which were provided.
Staff, Location, car parking
Staff efficiency wifi Bedroom
Car Park quite a walk and was covered in puddles on soft ground Carpets looked dirty Smell of fresh paint in Bedroom
barman was lovely...manager never acknowledged us the whole time we were there!!!
We stayed at The Courtlands in Nov 2014... Room 317.. we arrived at 1.40pm and was told rather abruptly by the receptionist that we were too early and that our room was not ready, even though we were asked when booking when our expected arrival time would be. we had no choice but to take our bags back to our car and find somewhere to go. when we arrived back at the hotel we discovered that they had a bar area that we could of waited in, but no mention of this was made to us by the receptionist!!! our room was on the top floor and not very easy to find and the bed we discovered was only a 4 foot bed so a very tight squeeze, in fact i was scared to turn over in the night in case i fell out. neither myself or my husband had a good nights sleep... The Hotel is in need of desperate renovation and and the receptionist needs to work on her customer service skills and learn how to smile... would go back to this area but not to this hotel...
The room was spacious it was convenient and had its own parking. The bathroom was clean and had been recently decorated.
I arrived late the staff member didn't greet me but looked at me as if I was an inconvenience to him. We were woken in the morning by renovations on the wall right outside our bedroom door. Nobody explained this was going to take place. Reception said she didn't know anybody was even doing any work. We would of been clamped if we hadn't asked if we needed to display a ticket in the parking.
Very friendly welcoming staff. Excellent location. We needed parking and this was easy to use and included in the cost (unlike many other local hotels).
We stayed on the top floor. At 6'2" I had to duck a lot. Hot water was slow to arrive, When it rained the skylight was noisy.
Large clean quiet room. Even the bathroom was spacious
Decoration a little tired.
Zero smiles of the people at the desk. Deep mud in the parking, and limites number of car spaces Very dry atmophere in a overheated bedroom
The bed was comfortable and the location of the room was quiet
No hot water so could not have a shower however after complaining my husband was able to shower later in the morning
Free parking and breakfast
Nearly everything! The front of the hotel was filthy! Bed was squeaky! Toilets wouldn't flush properly! The hotel just needs a total make over! The carpets are not only old but smelly and look like they were rained on! Was very disappointed!
Greats location, only a 10 minute drive from the centre of brighton.
Although the actualy hotel itself is rundown, wall paper peeling from the walls, rust on shower poll and General wear and tear. The beds were also very uncomfortable, two out of the four had a dip in the middle.
Good location and free parking in B&H has to be an enormous bonus
The hotel is looking a little run down inside and out which is a shame as its in such a nice area
the location was excellent we dined out at night and there was a multitude of places to eat . A lovely Victorian street and the parking free a bargain!!!!
The receptionist could have been a bit more forthcoming with information but after wandering around for a bit we got our bearings
The person staying was my mum. The hotel was clean and neat.
I called the day before saying my Mum (60+) will be travelling since 5am and would be arriving early so we would need an early check in if available. I have been assured that she won't have problems. As she arrived at 11am, no room was available and the reception lady told her a fee for early check in is applied. She eventually managed to get a room at 1pm. The first room was unacceptable and she did ask for a room change. The second room was on the 3rd floor under the roof with wet patches on the ceiling. This is a 60+ woman that didn't want to cause more trouble so she stayed in the second room - but you wouldn't call it a comfortable stay. We used the hotel before and never had such unpleasant experience.
Great value for money. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
We have stayed at Courtlands several times and are always given a room about a mile from reception! Please when we come on 24 December could we have a twin room which is more convenient?
Needed a bit of an uplift.
The room was spacious and both room and bathroom were nice and warm (it was pretty chilly outside). The staff were pleasant.
Could perhaps do with a little freshening up but I really cannot complain when considering the price.
car park muddy
Our stay was great.
The hotels pillows were too flat.
The location was excellent and the staff were very helpful before I arrived, recommending restaurants and bars etc.
Bed was comfy , breakfast was lovely , free parking a BIG bonus !! All round great value for money x
Could do with a little bit of TLC . Paintwork etc , toilet roll holder broken , small holes above bed when you lay down . All little things which didn't spoil our stay but let the room down slightly x
I liked the spacious room and old house.
There was some mix up about whether there was a deduction for breakfast for young children which is normally automatic.
Staff seemed freindley there was no hassle and got our room hour early so cant complain at that...car parking to so a stress free stay..
Two single beds would of prefered double bed apart from that it was nice but this is not a moan im just saying a double bedwould of topped it off
