Good location, good size rooms and bathroom, helpful staff and a nice lounge to sit and have a drink in, having a private car park was great and it's large so there was always a space for us. Towel rail in bathroom constantly on making it very hot in there, an electric one that you can turn off would be much better, could do with air conditioning or at least a fan as the room gets very warm during the night, these are just minor points as overall we enjoyed our stay and we would stay there again if in the area.

We stayed there when we we went to a pop concert which was close by. We had an enjoyable stay whilst we were there. The staff were very friendly and we felt very comfortable The bathroom could have been a little larger, but it was no real problem.

The staff generally do not have English as their first language. This led to any number of Fawlty Towers incidents. Whilst the answer to most questions was yes, nothing happened. E.G.When we queried the amount we were charged on arrival we were told that we would have to wait to the next day for the right person to be available to sort it out! That is someone who could read English and use a calculator.

Apart from the hot tap in the bathroom giving hot water and the cold tap giving (at first) tepid water we have absolutely no complaint whatever about our 7 day stay. Our room (2nd floor) was clean, quiet and comfortable. The car parking facility was a real bonus and apart from a day out in Chichester we walked everywhere. We didn't eat at the hotel, preferring to go into Brighton early (about a mile to the centre) have coffee and a croissant and spend the day there. If we visit Brighton again, we will certainly try the Courtlands Hotel first. No complaints!

This was a perfectly adequate hotel for the money. I was a little apprehensive as had read negative reports on another site. Obviously not the luxury end and no little extras such as shower caps, body lotions but the basics were there. The staff were fine and the car parking was a big bonus, extra points for that. Was in a good position for the quieter area of shopping in Hove and as our room was on the back its was quiet. Only thing definately wrong was that a new building project adjacent to our room, on which the building work had temporarily stopped thankfully, could have easily been used as a stepping stone to access our room on the first floor and the two windows were sash type. These would have been easy to lift to gain access. No blind at the bathroom window. Wasn't too pleased to find the whole amount of our stay had been charged weeks ago, whether this if Booking.com's policy or the hotels I'm not sure.

I thought the evening meal was very good at a reasonable price, and the breakfast was also of a good standard. The staff were all very helpful, apart from the manager who was very unhelpful in all respects (see below). The bed was quite firm and I thought it was uncomfortable. The part of the hotel we stayed in was pleasantly warm, while the other end where my daughters were sleeping was very cold. The manager was very unhelpful in this respect,nd only agreed to move them to another room under duress. The hotel insisted in charging the higher rate for breakfast, although we had pre-booked through your site. Again, the manager was unwilling to help. I would not stay there again.

Very good breakfast, comfortable room other than for temperature, friendly staff. No heating on in room, felt cold. I paid full price for the breakfast when I booked the hotel through booking.com, yet there was a notice at the hotel saying the price of the breakfast was £4 cheaper if it was booked in advance!

The staff were all very pleasant and tried their best to make me feel welcome. My hotel room looked directly out onto a brick wall, it was literally 3 feet from my window, the only positive thing about it was that it had no grafitti on it! The bath was not usable as all the enamel was off at the plug end and it just looked awful, I left my room feeling depressed and grubby.

we thought our room was very tired looking, old fashioned. Peeling paint and the toilet needed replacing. It was 8th Oct so we expected the heating to be on ,when we told reception they said it would be but this did not happen. Breakfast was ok but we felt sorry for the 2 staff that were on duty they were very stretched, we received our toast after we had finished breakfast which is disappointing. We wont be booking here again.

Our twin room was very spacious, and nicely decorated, very clean and with very comfortable beds. Although approx half an hours walk to the Peir, it was nicely located in Hove-which in my opinion is more upmarket than Brighton, so was nice to have the choice of both. We will use again on future trips to Brighton.

Clean and tidy room, cheap, close to the venue I needed to go to and has its own parking Poor tv reception (digital break up), tired room (brown stain below the water level of the toilet, overpainted glosswork, window frame on last legs, needs refurbishment not just redecorating). Insufficient uht milk tubs (4) with kettle (when will hotels learn? You need at least 2 and up to 4 of these piddly milk tubs for each cuppa). Cheap tasteless tea. Wardrobe too narrow for my coat hangers and clothes to fit in it. Towels too small.

The room decor was good v soothing The bath was rubbish. The water flow was so slow you would be waiting until the next day to run a bath and when you ran hot and cold together and switched to hot the hot tap would run cold water on its own for about 10 mins ....and despite trying to switch it off and run it again it took ages to run hot again!! Also outside I had the windows open as was hot and in the morning while lying on the bed naked some men (builders I presume) walked by above me clearly able to see into my room shocking the hell out of my me! I have never experienced that in a hotel. Pretty dismal really. So all in all I dont think I will be staying with you again...and also the swimming pool that I partly booked the room for was out of order....you should say on your website that the pool is out of order otherwise it seems a bit fraudulent advertising yourselves as a hotel with a pool when its not working...I Might have stayed somewhere else....anyway not impressed

The first room we were given was terrible. The TV didn't work and had to be replaced. Apparently they don't hold their tuning! The toilet didn't flush properly. The shower sprayed off the glass shield and onto the floor, making it dangerous. The radiator in the bathroom had been removed and the pipes and fittings just left sticking out of the wall. Part of the carpet was frayed and a trip hazard. The sash windows had no locks and there was a roof/ledge outside our window, making access very easy. The general state of the room felt grubby. We were offered a choice of two other rooms (as they weren't full, luckily) and the one we chose, although better, still had no locks on the windows and the TV had to be tuned in every time it was switched on. The shower was also a bit grubby too.

The staff at Courtlands were lovely - helpful and friendly and courteous. The breakfast was fine with more than enough choice. Room was a good size and the bathroom quite recently renovated. The hotel reminded me of an old fashioned rooming house - there was a certain charm to it. I would return to this hotel but would probably ask more about the room I was to allocated. Our room and bathroom overlooked a building site (hotel redevelopement) and the security was questionable with no lock on one of our windows and ladders and scaffolding right outside. Also there was no privacy blind or curtain in the bathroom - just a very sheer curtain. The hallway from the elevator to our room was very tired and quite dirty in parts.

Breakfast good as were staff. Room was cold and radiator had been taken off wall! Was offered alternative but this room was worse. The rooms and common parts are tardy and need of refurbishment if the hotel intends to compete in todays market.
