Said to be haunted by the ghost of Mary Queen of Scots, this Elizabethan hotel has historic features and a cosy restaurant. Charm and character mix with modern facilities.

Location rooms and staff
The quality of accommodation was great with lots of little complimentary extras. Ambience of bar and restaurant was lovely and the setting is picture perfect. The staff were very friendly and obliging and I'd highly recommend a stay here.
The Courtyard seems a popular choice for private functions with 2 held during my 3 day stay. The negative is that the restaurant is closed to other guests during these events so I'd strongly advise checking on arrival if you're planning on eating in.
Very beautiful gardens and field nearby. Wild rabbit and sheep and horses. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was excellent.
Wifi was weak at my room. I had to go near the main house to connect wifi.
everything, I couldn't fault the staff, my "stable" was a delightful abode, extremely good conversion. There were a couple of wedding parties that day but did not detract from the service or ambience. The grounds pristine. The food was very good albeit I only had breakfast. Toiletries were provided, everything you could have needed, ample coffee and tea making facilities. Clean bed linen, face, bath and hand towels. The only thing missing was a shower cap! Very comfortable bed and bedding. Would I stay again... yes, yes, yes.
Beautiful grounds, modern accommodation, good breakfast, comfortable bed, Excellent shower.
Some road noise from bathroom window.
Location, clean, garden and setting. Good value.
Most of the complex is an arrangement of conservatories joined together, the pictured character house is only a small part of the hotel with only some of the rooms not the communal hotel or dining space.
Rooms comfortable, good shower, fantastic breakfast, (one of the best)
Road noise and not what I would class as truly pet friendly
Comfortable, clean room opening onto paved area in very pleasent garden.
Friendly, helpful staff.Comfy beds. Peaceful despite functions going on in other parts of the Courtyard. Fab breakfasts. Friday Steak night. Beautiful grounds.
The welcoming greeting and helpful staff. The room was of a high standard. Dinner was served in the conservatory which on a warm summer evening had the doors open to give the feel of al fresco dining. Excellent menu, good choice and food cooked freshly and as requested.
The wifi is not accessible in the cottage so working in my room was difficult.
Nice staff, great food, will use again
Everything was fine
Room was clean and tidy. The setting of the hotel was very nice. With a nice garden area. Breakfast was really good. I would use again if I needed a hotel in the area
Waiter excellent, food ok
Room very dated shower broken
Very Poor for a Superior room! Not even a bedside mat.
Lovely large clean rooms, tea making great lots of choice, bathroom lovely a very comfortable stay.
Came for breakfast but had to wait for 20mins as they had a conference booked in, if I had of been told this I could have been in earlier and not then rushing for work.
Facilities were good
Beds were smaller than we'd expected as it said 2 doubles on the booking form. It was difficult to turn down the heating.
Great place to stay. Great breakfast. Great shower room.
The pre approved amount taken from my card in arrival was twice as much as the room itself.
We stayed at The Courtyard following a family funeral. Our room was clean, very well equipped and with very comfortable beds. Overall we thought that the fittings and furnishings etc were top quality as was the food and drinks at the bar.
Nothing really although the booking form stated 2 double beds the beds were definitely singles although very comfortable.
Good location for the meeting that I had
Very expensive for what you get, and NOT good value for money at all. £95 for B&B in a fairly basic room. Also their is an additional charge for using Amex that they did not mention to me when i checked in. When they pointed out a sign that said there was a surcharge, it was printed in the smallest text and was very easy to miss.
Staff very friendly Food very good nice quiet rooms good location for walk round the lake
Food service was slow although did give appetisers to keep us going
food was excellent and good value
room had paint pealing off ceiling in shower, walls had been bashed by desk needed attention
