On the banks of Loch Lomond in the magnificent Queen Elizabeth Forest, this hotel has spectacular views of Ben Lomond, the Loch and mountains to the north. Rowardennan Hotel is accessible, yet remote....

Breakfast really good Position in front of the lock
No curtains in the bathroom at the same level of the back garden
no TV or wifi meant total relaxation. Room 4 was exceptional..loved it!
The location is idyllic, a little bit of heaven on the edge of the loch. We loved the views, the cosy quaintness of the rooms, the fantastic food and the friendly people.
There was nothing we didn't like.
The people, the service, the location
The hospitality and food was excellent. The location is stunning. The comfiest beds we have stayed in. Will definitely be returning.
The people were very friendly, the breakfast and dinner in the evening was great. There was no tv in room, but you not need one when the views out the window are as amazing as they are.
There was a nice big bathroom, however the shower was in an awkward place.
Friendly owners, relaxed style
Staff were very welcoming, food was excellent.
Nothing about it we didn't like.
Staff very friendly
lake view, clean rooms, close to botanic garden and forest tracking route.
Food was lovely
The drive to the Coylett Inn was tremendous, pictures could not do it justice. The location of Inn and the view was one of the best I have experienced. We didn't eat there in the evening as wanted to see Dunoon during our short stay nor have time for wifi. The cooked Breakfast was excellent and other options most satisfactory too. Thank you all.
Staircase was steep and a surprise, fine for us though and staff offer assistance in advance
My bathroom was great. Big bath overlooking the lake and hills.
No TV in the room. General feel of the place was underloved. I was told the wifi was being updated only to discover later on that it was just switched off! Food was very poor. My Salmon pate was moor like soup that pate and my fish and chips looked unappetizing and tasted very bland.
The view from the bedroom window was stunning. The food was excellent. The family were very friendly and the inn had a homely feel.
We had to leave after only 2 nights!
The view of the Loch and a good breakfast. Because of the age of this old building it looks very quaint and is full of character.
We stayed here during a Scottish heatwave, the towel radiator in our bathroom was roasting hot, so much so you couldn't touch it , it made our bedroom into a sauna. We asked for it to be turned off, they said they had known of this problem for two years and refused to turn it off. They said they couldn't. The midgey population was enormous so we couldn't open windows or we would have been badly bitten. The room we had at the back of the Inn was so small. I am 6 foot 1 inch tall and the ceiling was only 3 inches above my head,. The shower was above the bath, so when I had a shower my head touched the ceiling and I had to stoop over to be able to have a shower. It was unbelievable. I don't know how they get away with this. The tiny claustrophobic, boiling hot room and very hard uncomfortable double bed meant we had two nights of no sleep. This is a dreadful place to stay. Never again! I would not recommend it. Its also very expensive for what you get. Really poor! Evening meal was horrible, burnt chips! We feel very angry that they would do nothing to help us when we were so hot and uncomfortable because of roasting hot radiator in a tiny room in the middle of a hot June. They had no TV, no phone, no wi-fi. To get to all bedrooms you have to go up a very dangerous, narrow, steep spiral stairway with narrow steps and a nightmare to try and go up with a suitcase. It is not suitable for children or elderly people or anyone unsure of their balance, in our opinion it is a real health and safety risk. We go away often and I have written a lot of really good reviews. This is the first time I have ever written a bad review, I have done this because we felt cheated and even more annoyed about it once we came home. We left The Coylet Inn and went over to Rothesay and stayed in a Scottish tourist board 3 * B&B for £140 for the two of us for 2 nights. It was absolutely amazing! The Coylet Inn cost us £170 for two nights B&B, totally overpriced!
I had a wonderful stay - very cosy and comfortable. The location is outstanding - the owners very friendly and hospitable. I would gladly recommend Coylet Inn to family and friends. A real treat!
If you want a modern plastic hotel don't book in here. However, if you want a place with bags of character and charm, a homely feel, and exceptional hosts in Craig & Pip and little un, not forgetting dog, then this is the place for you. Food very good quality and plentiful. Bedrooms very clean.
Only downside is the steep spiral staircase, could be difficult for less mobile guests.
Stunning scenery. Good selection of beers. Friendly locals.
Narrow, steep stairs up to bedrooms.
Lovely location on Loch Ech, ideal for walks in the forest. Friendly and helpful staff.
Limited menu if requiring gluten free options.
New pillows needed
Lovely clean hotel, with lively scenery! no television due to poor signal! Food was excellent, and owners Craig and Pip were great and they went out of their way to make you feel welcome, only downfall was the room we were allocated, it was room 2 and this room was at back of the hotel so looked on to trees and hills not the loch view I expected, this room costs the same as the loch view rooms to the front! So think it could be a bit cheaper!
The bed a bit soft!
The restaurant is so lovely, the bar is also really nice. Staff are fantastic, the scenery is breath-taking and the rooms are very typical of the age of the property, but the bathroom was modern- perfect combo! My partner had a great dinner, portions are large! Oh and there is a log fire in bar and restaurant <3
I'm really sorry to say anything bad about the hotel as it was an almost perfect stay, however, the chef cannot cook steak to your liking, I asked for medium and got blue, then rare, so I just settled for rare- shame really! Nothing that cant be fixed with a few practice runs!
Homely, friendly and comfortable would highly recommend for a relaxing night. Lovely log fire and everyone welcoming
Friendly welcome, log fires, cosy room, peaceful setting.
Could the big rubbish bins be positioned out of view of the dining area?
