Nice clean hotel with friendly staff food very good too
Friendly staff, great location, nice food
Room was a bit small
Nice clean hotel with very attentive hospitable staff. Incredible vies.
Breakfast as good but I have had excellent Scottish breakfasts in similar hotels. £100 about right for the stay.
The personal welcome, the standard of the hotel and the quality of the rooms .
Breakfast always excellent, but dinner sometimes not at the same standard.
The location of the hotel is excellent and even though our room was facing the garden there were a number of sitting rooms/areas where you could access the stunning views. Our room was on the top floor so a bit of a trek but was spacious and very clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was not very good. Even though we were in the dining room in plenty of time for breakfast it was obvious that most of the food was pre-cooked and kept warm in the oven which meant that the bacon and potato scones in particular were rock hard and almost inedible.
Nice location on the water, beautiful room, fabulous food, several shared comfy living areas
Just a little noisy from the road that runs between loch and inn. View is still great though!
not overly grand but lovely in its comfortable fashion
Nice rooms, clean, and cosy. Not your standard modern business hotel, more a home from home. Great little restaurant and bar. Restaurant can get busy, and did run out of some choices on busy days. Breakfasts were great, staff excellent. Fantastic location for, touring around Argyllshire.
Last orders for the restaurant at 2030, was a little early. Missed dinner one evening, and told I would not be able to eat. To her credit the night receptionist made me a fantastic sandwich, which saved the days
Restaurant not bad, and nice selection of single malts to try, shame none of the staff knew what they were! Lounge area overlooking the Loch
Room cold at night, thin blanket no duvet small duvet. Unsafe hairdryer almost useless and smelt like it was going to catch fire (returned to reception). Worst thing though was breakfast - arrived at 0925, just before end of service, staff clock watching rushed us to order - then within minutes delivered worst scrambled eggs I've had in a long time (even after removing shell and pan scrappings), on a cold plate with pile of wet salmon and slice of lemon on the side.
The site was fantastic, the food was excellent, and the staff were most considerate.
Excellent location to explore the region, to walk in the nature. Very helpful staff. Good food in the restaurant. Wonderful breakfast!
Everything, the room, staff, food, atmosphere. A place were you could totally relax. Will be back, sorry we could only spend one night.
The stairs could be an issue for some people but we found that to be part of the character of the building.
Lovely place lovely people lovely food, hope to visit again.
Location - across the road from the loch. Big, old rambling hotel Free parking Free wifi
Old and rambling... (a plus and a minus, the balance depends on you)
Fabulous discount on our room via booking.com Beautiful room / suite, freshly decorated Nice wee lounge bar Stunning views
Didn't live up to it's reputation, came away disappointed. Short staffed. Poor quality of food, service and attention to detail in the bistro. Different price charged each time for the same round at the bar. Traffic noise from the main road. Dog friendly so we were subjected to the noise of a dog barking and howling in the adjacent room whilst its owners appeared to be blissfully unaware! Residents lounges tired and dated. Dead by 9pm Poor value for money.
Restaurant and Bistro both excellent and boos value.
Wi-fi not in bedroom
It was in a lovely location, right on the loch side, excellent service, room was comfortable and the food at the restaurant was amazing
beautiful views from room 6 great food
The hotel is wonderful, the people were very kind. Even if there were no buses in Strachur on Sunday they gave us a lift so that we could get to the next village were we could catch one. It is a peaceful place with a perfect location to get some rest. The landscape from the windows is amazing
There are not any buses on Sunday, so you need to rent a car to get around.
Excellent food Beautiful location and views Generally excellent service
Felt rushed with breakfast on the first morning because the waitress was rushing, but service for all other meals was excellent
Location was fantastic but for the very busy road immediately outside which was used by heavy logging trucks as well as being the main route to the Isle of Bute. The restaurant was well furnished and the menu had an interesting and varied selection. The wine list was good albeit a bit over-priced and the two house whites we tried were rather average and the house red was better. Excellent well-kept draught beers. The rooms were large, comfortable and well furnished with stunning views over Loch Fyne with some great sunsets.
The staff were lovely. Breakfast was nice
The first room we booked was the garden room as we had planned a special night together this room was tiny smelling of dampness and not very clean this was £120 per night the staff offered to up us for the same price to the nxt best room which should be £160 a night for the same price this wasn't any better we ended up paying for the delux room £180 this was far better than the other two but still not worth £180. The bar was small and not very clean stains all over seats. Deff would never go back
Lovely cosy inn with great food
