Location is very bad , staff too .
excellent staff and bar+ food quality
Noisy doorand Heating + maintenance
The bar area of the inn was very cosy with a fire and comfortable sitting areas.
The room was very small, and had no charm or aura of closeness, exactly the opposite of the bar area. While clean, the owners could make more of an effort to enhance the aura for travelers to the nearby lake district.
GOOD PLACE TO STAY,NOT TO FAR AWAY FROM THE LAKES,STAFF POLITE AND HELPFUL LOCAL BREWS EXCELLENT.
THERE IS BIT OF ROAD NOISE, BUT YOU GET USED TO IT AFTER DAY OR TWO.
Considering the overall experience it was an excellent value for money (twin room, £45 per night breakfast included). Nice to have a pub in the facilities too.
Bits and pieces like removing obvious wear and tear, fixing bulbs and adjusting heating times to weather conditons (like 11pm at night) would help improve without being terribly costly.
The food was just perfect for me. We were walking twelve miles a day up grand fells and a boutique meal would have been snorted up the left nostril. Big breakfasts full of quality and dinners of thick hikers pea and proper ham soup steak and ale pie, new potatoes, chips and veg gorgeous gravy all piping hot. Did I mention the Wainwrights bitter and the Batemans black and white stout. No. Because I was too immersed in the glorious taste of such nectar kept by a man who obviously knows how to treat a good real ale.
Mould in bathroom - all very tired and needed replacing. Smelt of damp dog in corridor.
Great Staff, chalet was a brilliant space. Handy for Kendal and the lakes and access to motorway
Some minor maintenance issues needing addressing
Friendly staff, good service & food. Good location just off motorway, near Kendal.

Attitude and cancellation by owner
Great staff, great food, great beer, great value and a great sleep what more do you want highly recommend for contractors and walkers :-)
We stayed in room 8 and it was spacious and very comfortable and quiet, we used as a base to visit lakes for a couple of days and it was ideal, we ate there both evenings and the food was of good quality and had a lovely atmosphere, we would definatly recommend and is exceptional value.
Could do with blackout curtains, to make room darker it night.
Friendly staff Great food and beer Good room in the annexe building
Noise from the nearby M6
food . staff were pleasant.
Owner was nice and he has a big friendly dog called Max! Looks like the locals love the place for it's darts and were really good to watch. Good beer selection too and the shower, although down the hall and a bit dated was good and did the job.
Bit of a stop start breakfast but it was pretty funny. Oh and only had full fat milk so my travel buddy couldn't have her cereal, but that's just us.
Food was amazing. Both breakfast and dinner all homemade and very yummy Staff very helpful and friendly.
good food, good staff, quite room, nice location
friendly owner children's play area that could be looked on whilst adults ate their dinner nice starter of tempura prawns and whitebait good cooked breakfast
Accommodation and service.
easy access from and to M6 warm welcome dog friendly
family room was very cramped
Very good value for money and the food was excellent. It was particularly helpful that they accepted dogs for only £5 a night extra.
not a thing
Evening staff were lovely. Dinner in bar was excellent Beds were comfortable Location was convenient
Bathroom wasn't clean. Mouldy shower curtain, filthy toilet brush, lots of dust. Breakfast was slow - 20 minutes for order to be taken despite being asked to book a time the previous evening. Breakfast food was average. Check-out was difficult. There was no record of our dinner etc on the til and no note of the room rate we were to pay or whether we'd already paid in full or a deposit. Added to a customer phoning to place an order for food that evening which blocked the single phone line and made a card payment repeatedly decline, and the member of staff being very rude about the telephoning customer and members of her staff who hadn't left our details on the till etc. We won't be going back to stay, although the evening meal was so good.
