good food, good staff, quite room, nice location
friendly owner children's play area that could be looked on whilst adults ate their dinner nice starter of tempura prawns and whitebait good cooked breakfast
Accommodation and service.
easy access from and to M6 warm welcome dog friendly
family room was very cramped
not a thing
Evening staff were lovely. Dinner in bar was excellent Beds were comfortable Location was convenient
Bathroom wasn't clean. Mouldy shower curtain, filthy toilet brush, lots of dust. Breakfast was slow - 20 minutes for order to be taken despite being asked to book a time the previous evening. Breakfast food was average. Check-out was difficult. There was no record of our dinner etc on the til and no note of the room rate we were to pay or whether we'd already paid in full or a deposit. Added to a customer phoning to place an order for food that evening which blocked the single phone line and made a card payment repeatedly decline, and the member of staff being very rude about the telephoning customer and members of her staff who hadn't left our details on the till etc. We won't be going back to stay, although the evening meal was so good.
Very welcoming and hospitable stay. I was on route home from Scotland and the cross keys was an ideal location. I chose a room with shared bathroom and there was no problem, just get up early for your shower. The food menu was nice, home made chicken and leek pie. Really could have stayed longer and explored the area. In the evening I sat in the pub and chatted with fellow travellers, a great way to spend the evening. Breakfast was wonderful and set me up for a long journey. Thanks to all the team.
Shower door was difficult to lock and someone came in whilst I was in there! Not too embarrassing but if it had been a girl, well, a different story maybe
Staff very friendly & helpful. Beds very comfortable & spotless. Would recommend this hotel to others.
N/A in our case. Everything was to our taste.
the food is too worrest and too expensive. The rooms are not soundproof, and only one shared bathroom for 3 rooms. all the night suffered with fleshing sounds. dont ever book this. if you really want a nightmare in your holiday ,this is the best palce.
Noisy rooms but it is an old property
Friendliness of staff upon arrival and in the restaurant/bar. The evening meal was very good
Bathroom/toilet extremely small with little room to manoeuvre.
The staff were lovely, professional and friendly. The Cross Keys suited us perfectly, and the situation is excellent. The beds were very comfortable and it was helpful being able to park directly outside the chalet. Thank you.
Really nice home-cooked food, friendly staff
water pressure of the shower wasn't strong enough, turning knobs of the shower wasn't working properly, tired decor
Food on the evening was very good and good portion size. The staff we saw were very friendly.
Disappointed by room 2. It was so bleak. The decorating was extremely rough with badly fitted and the effect made it cell like. If a bit of loving care were taken to the decorating, maybe a few pictures on the wall and replace the horrible blind with curtains it would be much better. The shared shower did not work well being very difficult to control to get a comfortable flow and the light was faulty. The shared bathroom was dire. Dirty walls, assorted pubic hair in the bath and somebody's cloths drying on the towel rail. The door lock was makeshift reflecting the general lack of proper maintenance of the whole place. £60 per night given the quality was well over the top and we felt ripped off.
The fact that they where there the weather was awful and the hotel was pleasant and warm also the food was excellent
Bit out of the way no shops when we needed one but not there fault.
great spot to stop off
Maintenance issues! In room tv unworkable, light above mirror out, side light out, when toilet flushed in shared bathroom the plumbing screams like a banshee.
very friendly very accomodating food excellent my husband commented on it being a lovely pint [the beer]
only that our stay was too short
We liked the location and the scenery
The room was too small and cramped.Furniture was old there was no shower gel in the dispenser.only 2 very small bars of soaps provided.
