This family-run hotel was once the home of a wealthy Victorian merchant and great care has been taken to retain the building’s traditional character and elegance while incorporating modern comforts.

Breakfast was very good .
The noise from downstairs continued util 3.30am and then were awoken at 7 am from room above with it's squeaky floor boards which did not stop until 8.30am
Nicely furnished, english style. Great breakfast. Nice treat. Nice location. Quite confortable stay.
Expensive - 250euros x 3night it's too much for a small town, but I don't know the local average. Internet didn't reach my room. The room was small and I had some problems with the shower.
Great location and very popular pub serving quality beer with friendly staff.
No staff on reception from 6.00pm so friends had to squeeze down a dark slippery alley to get to the pub entrance. Tiles just about hanging on walls in the bathroom. Very dated and never ever had severely tea stained cups in a hotel before. Very poor attention to detail.
staff breakfast location
stairs everywhere smell noise from pub no window to look out of in No.7
Nothing at all except the breakfast which was quite tasty.
We travelled from Norwich for a family wedding at Belle Epoch. (that wasn't much better!) The Cross Keys (room 2) bedroom was dusty, dirty and badly decorated, the en-suite was filthy. Neither of us would shower there and we couldn't wait to depart the room. The bed was very uncomfortable. This was possibly the worst place we have ever stayed in. We are world travellers and often travel around the UK and abroad. We couldn't find anything good about it other than a nice breakfast. However the tables and floor were dirty, The table we eat our breakfast on was sticky. We should have asked for our money back but we were asked to pay before we saw the state of the place. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone. The previous night we had stayed in a small hotel in Chesterfield which was the exact opposite, so clean and welcoming. Such a contrast.
Breakfast was really good and the position in Central kuntsford was ok
The room was awful - broken lights, thread-bare carpets, damp, peeling off wall paper, moth-eaten duvet cover, dirty bathroom too
Quiet cottage room was adequate.
We were late arrivals and found the cark park difficult to find and were given incorrect instructions to find it by the bar staff. Not the greatest welcome when we asked for a drink in the bar.
Excellent location in the heart of the town with convenient (free) car park
Worn and dilapidated interiors Dusty bedroom Uncomfortable beds No maid service - it's up to you to make your bed and tidy your room
very nice room, good breakfast and nice staff.
one way system in town made it difficult to find hotel parking and no signage to show where hotel was. We arrived at what we thought was the hotel front which was the bar area, and was not open until 5pm, the reception is at the rear.
Room comfortable big and reasonably well decorated
Bedside lamps faulty Noisy as room obviously was in the front of a busy street.
Welcoming and friendly staff. Good English breakfast. Large comfortable bedroom. Good pub with traditional ales. Convenient situation in the centre of the town.
The tv was too small for the room. the room which we had was on the 3rd floor within the roof area leading from long narrow corridors, large luggage would have been a problem.
Knutsford is an expensive place and the cross keys provided real value for money.
The landing planes for the local airport pass quite low over the village.
Dead centre for shops and restaurants. Rooms in rear annex are quietest. Free off-street parking. Only 5 minute walk from the station Great places to eat and drink within 200 yards.
Pub under main building can be quite noisy so get an annex room. Value for money if you're not expecting or don't need top notch facilities.
The hotel is in the centre of town with plenty of restaurants nearby. The breakfast was really tasty and the staff very helpful. Our room was quirky (room 10) and we had loads of space.
Finding the car park - take a tip and park outside the front in a one hour car parking space. Walk through the hotel to the back and look down the road from the entrance to the car park. Then you'll find it easily.
Very tired, needs redecorating, poor house keeping, dusty fittings and ledges
Staff were very friendly. Food was good and beer excellent.
Another part of Knutsford will soon be gone. The current managers will soon be replaced by owners who will try (as they have elsewhere in Knutsford), to turn it into another of their over priced and low value eateries. Last tap side bar in the centre of Knutsford will be gone. Replaced by gauche tat. Sad
Situated in the center of the town.
Our room was in a sidebuilding and in urgent need to bee repaired. Heard of vetter rooms in the headbuilding.
location very good, lots of choice for bars and restaurants, but that's it I'm afraid..
hotel had a musty smell as soon as we entered..as we were shown to our room the décor is in need of a massive update..a lick of paint would be a good start..our bedroom was a decent size to be fair but not worth the money,we were offered to have a look at another room but declined as the musty smell seemed to be everywhere as this was a night away for our anniversary we were let down...we also packed our bag and checked..im afraid the hotel is as I said before living on its location and nothing else.
Breakfast was nice.
Room was cold and couldn't turn the heating on in the rooms. Check in was brief and to the point, not overly friendly. Room was out back in converted stable and though clean and comfortable we were unable to see the rest of the main building which was one of the attractions of booking given that it is very old. Just a pub in the evening was a bit off putting. However, great location, plenty of places to eat. Would maybe stay again just for those facts.
Notice in the main street indicates hotel is at the rear of the pub. Parked and went in through the pub to find reception. You need to walk through the car park to Princess St to be able to find the access, but otherwise no problem. Accommodation was good and quiet. Breakfast was freshly cooked and everyone was very efficient and friendly.
Unusually for a hotel / pub, Cross Keys was not serving evening meals the night we stayed, but Pocolino is a very nice friendly Italian restaurant only 100 yards away which fitted the bill very well
Very friendly staff, lovely breakfast.
Bit of a slippery slope to and from the carpark !
Great locational Good value Excellent breakfast Friendly staff
Perhaps an improvement might be to have a longer available 'window' for serving breakfast; however the quality was superb.
Cozy treatment, cooperation & a good location.
Furniture is a bit old, yet it doesn't ruin you stay.
My stay was comfortable and I felt at ease
Friday night noise from the street (not the fault of the hotel)
