The Crown at High Newton

Made most welcome - thank you. We had a large, tastefully decorated, comfortable room with very nice en-suite and good breakfast in a quiet village with super countryside on the doorstep.

We had a most enjoyable stay with a friendly owner in Crawford and obliging and helpful staff .

We had no problems.

All staff including the owners were fantastic and very welcoming. First time to the Lake District and won't be the last.

Nice bedrooms. Excellent range of food very friendly staff fair prices. Good range of beers.

Some fixtures in bathroom cheap n cheerful.

Great warm welcome when we arrived from Amy. Lovely room with views. Great food. Would definitely stay again.

The staff are particularly friendly and helpful. My room and en suite bathroom were spotless and there was masses of hot water.

It was awkward that I had no mobile signal (not the fault of the hotel) and that my TV was not able to access BBC channels.

Crawford and his Team at the Crown made our stay very memorable despite the dreadful weather. The Team were friendly and very accommodating..The rooms were a good size and comfortable, and great value..

Slow breakfast. Shutting the heater since the early morning, this causes the room so cold. Very slow process for dinner. A bit expensive.

Our stay here was excellent. The room was spotless, the food was superb. I would highly recommend this accommodation. The area is really quiet.

Friendly staff, excellent food, nice location, evening entertainment

Crawford was extremely helpful in trying to resolve problems caused by booking.com. In my opinion Crawford did everything he possibly could do, to help us,as the room had been sold twice by booking .com. (It was only because the local racecourse at cartmel was cancelled that we managed to get a vacant room). The room we were given was excellent. Very clean. We were given some candles to place around the bath and a few extra personal touches. The quality of the meals and breakfast was again excellent.

I liked everything at the crown,it was a lovely break.

The breakfast was poor service and not much on the continental choice. Advertised as restaurant and bar with rooms. The emphasis on that - not the breakfast. Booking.com states english breatfast is extra but not sure if that is the case
