The location Dirty room; dust, cobwebs, rubbish in drawers/under bed - management did not apologise and quite rude. No indication that you had to order cooked breakfast. We had tea and toast instead and still had to pay £5 - were only advised of this at checkout.

It is perfectly located in the heart of a charming Cotswold village. On arrival the 'cleaned' room wasn't! Dirty loo and a stink of wet dog. On pointing this out I was moved to another room however, which wasn't ready. I have stayed in the Crown several times over the years and it has suffered from the trials and tribulations of various managers who never seem to get it right. Come on guys, it could be so good..

For what I paid, I wasn't expecting much however Crown Inn exceeded my expectations. The room was small but cosy, clean and comfortable. I will go there again and recommend it to my friends. The location was brilliant. Middle of nowhere, lost in the countryside. Very Romantic. I'm one pleased traveller. The only negative, but not enough to make me go somewhere else, was that there was no bath in our room only a shower. But we're not fussy travellers.

It was convenient for the area that I was visiting. Room was badly in need of an update/decorate. The breakfast was adequate, but no more and the quality was lacking. Staff did not ask whether you wished for any option and did not show a breakfast menu.

Beautiful old building. Nice bar and resturant menu in the evenings & not too pricey. Very good value for money. Nice spacious room and bathroom. Location very good for access to Cotswolds in general. Staff at breakfast seemed a little disorganised. Clean towels stacked up in the seating area. Looked untidy. Staff often smoking outside main entrance and hanging around in resturant when not working. Carpet in room needed cleaning. Had several stains on it but had been vacuumed well.

Room 17 was excellent, we had a four poster bed which was comfortable and the room was large and well furnished The Hotel seemed cold we had to turn on the radiators in the room and the bar and resturant by our tables. The log fires were nice but were not lit on all day

We stayed for one night on a Flash Deal. The Receptionist who checked us in was polite and efficient and offfered to have someone take our bags up to the room. General impression of the Hotel is very good, with lots of quirky features that you would expect from a typical 16th Century Inn with uneven floors and beams etc.The room itself (No 14) was clean and tidy and well decorated, the bed was clean and comfortable. There were a few little things which if you were really fussy you might have complained about but nothing that could spoil your stay(if you want perfection go corporate and clinical}. Fabulous little village, great location for exploring the Cotswolds. We would definitely stay there again.

The food was great and reasonably priced. The shower/bathroom was a bit small and could do with new shower fittings.

The staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Slight muddle about the room booked was quickly resolved. The building is interesting and has many period features. There was an unfortunate power outage during the breakfast period on one day but the staff dealt with it positively and without grumbling. The hotel was full but they served everyone cheerfully and we did not feel unduly inconvenienced by the situation. The approach to the hotel is through the Cotswold village of Blockley through increasingly narrow roads. We didn't have a problem with a biggish family saloon but you wouldn't want to bring a truck! The approach to the car park is up a steep drive. It was fine weather when we were there, but in icy conditions I think it could be difficult - I presume the hotel would grit the access in these conditions, and they have actually posted signs warning of the possibility of slippery surfaces during icy conditions.

Very shabby, in need of updating, bathrooms particually, dressing table mirror needed repairs and no information re hotel in room, could also have done with more milks on tea tray! Breakfast was not good either, tasteless and eggs under cooked ! Expensive for standard of hotel.

Our impression was that the hotel was poorly managed. Staff not trained properly. By arriving at the hotel we were shown to a terrible room with filthy carpet and bathroom light not working properly. We complained proptly and was shown to a bigger and nicer room but noice from room upstairs unbearable. On checkout we had paid the bill and discovered after, that we where overcharged by one night and the staff at the desk did not know how to do refund on the creditcard. We still have not received a confirmation about payback. All and all an experiance not worth it's money.

Location. Numerous small things that weren't right. Uncomfortable bed. Poor lighting in the bedroom Broken light in bathroom. Food not as described in the menu. Untrained waitress, lacking social skills. Breakfast precooked and reheated sausages, bacon, mushrooms very watery..Tomatoe unripe. Generally disapponting. We lived in this area many years ago, and it was one of the best hotels around.

“Excellent location in the main street of Chipping Campden. Our room was a good size with our own patio area accessing the back garden area. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend the Indian restaurant located within the Inn for a meal. Food was excellent. Would stay here again.” Jeanette, Seaton |
