Located in beautiful Blockley in the heart of The Cotswolds just outside of Moreton-in-Marsh this honey coloured historic inn is covered in Virginia creeper which turns a stunning red in Autumn. Walk inside to the scents of wood smoke from the open log fires and snuggle into a comfy chair by the fire to view the daily papers with a coffee or something stronger. Dinner is served in the warm and friendly restaurant with lighter meals and snacks available in the bar. Close-by are the villages of Broadway, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water.

The centuries have been kind to the Crown Inn and Hotel at Blockley, which was built in 1575. Like good wine, it has aged to perfection. It maintains its role in the heart of this little Cotswold community, although its facilities have been upgraded to ensure that they satisfy the most fastidious of modern day travellers. The cobbled courtyard has been replaced by a patio where guests may read their morning newspapers and local people and their friends can enjoy coffee or afternoon teas.

The lounge is well furnished with easy chairs, a settee and a useful supply of books and table games. The enterprising team created here an informal and friendly hotel with a most relaxing atmosphere. The head of the team personally supervises the efficient and courteous service, whilst our head chef exercises his enthusiastic talents in the kitchen, the dinning room and the busy bar. International and English cuisine is a feature of the The Coach House Restaurant, with all dishes individually prepared. The Crown Inn and hotel reflects the tranquil nature of Blockley, with its walks along bridle paths, bowls on the village green and horse riding.

Local villages and places to visit include Moreton-in-Marsh (3 km) in the heart of the Cotswolds. Located at the head of the beautiful Evenlode valley, Moreton is a thriving market town dating back 1,000 years to the Saxon era. It is a small and friendly Cotswold town, with a good range of shopping facilities.
Batsford Arboretum (1 km), a jewel of the Cotswolds with one of the largest private collections of trees and shrubs in the country, is a must to visit and stroll around whatever time of the year. Batsford Arboretum is tucked away on a south facing escarpment of the famous Cotswold Hills, next to Blockly at the Crown Inn.
Chipping Campden (6 km) is an ancient town with many beautiful buildings. From St James Church to Dover's Hill, all nestling in tranquil and picturesque countryside. These buildings provide a plethora of architectural styles across the centuries. This is conservation area is a place of outstanding natural beauty.
Take junction 8 off the northbound M40 and join the A40 towards Oxford. Follow this road until you reach a turning signposted for Evesham on the A44. Follow the A44 towards Evesham through Woodstock, Chipping Norton and Moreton and you will approach Bourton on the Hill. Travel through Bourton on the Hill and The Crown is signposted off the A44 between Bourton and Broadway.
