Very good,
Score from 77 reviews
With parts dating back to the 13th century, this 16th-century inn is now a small country pub offering free Wi-Fi, 2 bars, a separate restaurant and comfortable accommodations. In the heart of the small, charming village of Gayton, the Crown Inn offers 4 comfortable and homey rooms, furnished in a traditional cottage style. Every room has tea/coffee making facilities and a Freeview cable TV. Rich in original character and traditional charm, parts of the building are said to date back to between 1216 and 1262, when the building was constructed to house the stonemason and the workers who built the church across from the hotel. There are low original wooden beams in a few places. The Crown Inn is dog friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome in the rooms and throughout the pub, except for in the restaurant. Hotel Rooms: 4 Most recent booking for this hotel was yesterday at 16:52 from United Kingdom.

Cosy and friendly. Informal, good food and ambience and ideally situated for the business meeting I attending, only 5 minutes away. The only downside was the mascerator in the toilet starting up every so often, even without anyone using the toilet! Made it difficult to sleep as it was quite noisy.

The crown is a lovely little country pub with a nice country style, comfy snug to sit inside or nice tables to sit outside and watch the world go by in a quiet village. The rooms are comfortable and the food is good, a great country retreat.

Quaint traditional 'above the pub' room Dissapointing meal, the garlic mushrooms appeared in an indiscriminate sauce which was identical to the 'peppercorn' sauce provided with the steak. Based on that I chose not to arise for my 7am breakfast. That resulted in a furious hammering on my door at 7.15 to complain that I was late for breakfast. They then raised the matter as a concern to my workmate. Old world charm it isn'T. Keep a distance unless your on a tight budget.

The Crown was exactly what we wanted - a lovely country pub with atmosphere, comfort and excellent service. We were made very welcome with exceptional service. The room was spotless and very cosy. Breakfast was delicious with top quality food. We would definitely stay again. A separate bathroom is not ideal but there are only 4 rooms so you're never waiting to use it - and it is immaculate.

Ideally located for travel around North Norfolk coast. Quiet location, near to Sandringham and Kings Lynn. Food at the Crown Inn very good, and value for money. Just mind your head on the low beams leading to bedrooms

The service was excellent and staff were very friendly. We were running late for a wedding and Charlott booked us a cab. The room was huge and we slept very well in a comfy bed. The rooms were a little dated and perhaps could have done with a spring clean, but they were excellent value for money.

Nice friendly people. Pretty much what you'd expect of a country inn. Nice breakfast and although did not get a chance to eat there, restaurant seemed popular.

It was very cosy and welcoming. The room was clean and warm, the shared bathroom was also clean with plenty of hot water. It was dog friendly, which was important to us. A good variety and good standard of food was available in the restaurant and the bar. Fantastic value.

All the staff were friendly and very helpful: I am a widow and was travelling alone so they made special provision for me to eat in a quiet corner rather than in the dining-room. The food was delicious (lots of people came on the Saturday night specifically for meals although The Crown is actually a pub) and breakfast was excellent. The room was small but comfortable and the shared bathroom was very clean. I was going to stay at a hotel from one of the large chains but it was too far away from where I wanted to go: my stay at the Crown, including a gourmet dinner and breakfast cost less than a stay at one of these large hotels, with no food etc. included! I'll book again when I next visit the area.

“We stayed here one night as we were visiting relatives and this was close by. We usually stay at a well known lodge type hotel but wanted a change and preferred to look for a hotel with a restaurant instead of the usual pub type menu. Found this on booking.com for slightly less than the lodge price and would certainly use this hotel again. Much more than a lodge, friendly staff, a lovely bar area and a restaurant too. We had dinner here and had a choice of bar meal or restaurant. We chose the restaurant menu and the meal was lovely, freshly cooked and served on bone china plates.Breakfast was freshly cooked and served by the chef. He was most helpful with local car park information for the local town. Ideal location close to Kings Lynn and not far to the coast road.” , Mansfield |
