Lovely old building, with load of character. Our room was spacious and comfortable, specially the bathroom, really lovely. We had dinner several times there; meals were great, delicious food at really good price. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel at home!
constant power failures. very poor bar space.
Outside garden - lots of room outside if your a smoker (which I'm not) well catered for. Food very good
The noise of the plumbing - do realise it is an old building but it kept going off every 20 minutes so had no sleep!! Not much seating - seem locals orinetated - lots of seating if you want to eat but not to relax and have a drink.
The double room was excellent and tidy. Wifi connection was very strong so we could look up what to do in Ross-on-Wye. The main village is a mere 10 minute drive. The private bathroom was absolutely excellent, felt like we had our own private upstairs. The breakfast was continental and very good. The staff really helped out with info about the area: where to eat, where to go canoeing etc. A really lovely stay, highly recommended from me.
"Continental" breakfast was not! It was a basic offering of cereals and pain au chocolate for self toasting. Nice idea except that the cooler in my room failed to keep my unopened milk and I was greeted with 'yogurt' in the morning ....I then had to wait for the shop opposite to open to purchase my milk myself. As this milk then remained fresh for 24 hours until the following morning I can only presume my original milk was not fresh in the first place. It was a nice place, but this spoilt it for me
Location was good for where I wanted to be.
The convenient location has a down side, not the fault of the owners, but being adjacent to traffic lights on the busy A40, it is noisy even through the night. On the Friday evening I returned to find the kitchen closed early in spite of food being advertised up to 9-00pm. Full marks however to the young man in charge who immediately made arrangements to supply my needs from the remains of the evening roast.
Characterful country pub, full of history, Priest Hole, Armada wooden beams. Interesting decor. Great food, amazing value & very tasty freshly prepared pub grub. Good location, hills & valleys. Very friendly bar man ( Mark, I think). Amazing value for £30 a night. Would be fantastic for a group of friends to hire a few rooms for a special weekend.
Help yourself continental breakfast. Wouldn't suit everyone.
Lovely old building, spacious and comfortable room, I didn't eat here this time but food is available. Would willingly stay here again
Classic old place with loads of character. Good crack on a Friday evening. Will definitely plan this place in on future motorcycle trips.
talking and music till early hours no sleep water cisten filling all night very noisy
Really comfy room, quaint and traditional. Lovely bath and all other equipment good, especially the mini fridge with pint of milk- so perfect for us!
Cracked glass panels in the windows, it was rather noisy. And the breakfast wasn't really of a great standard- however given as a free option it was fine and much much better than nothing at all!
I only met one member of staff who was very friendly and helpful when I was locked out of my room due to a faulty lock
My room was right on the main road and I spent a sleepless night listening to huge lorries rumble by every ten minutes or so. Also there was something wrong with the plumbing as the loo kept flushing every half hour or so throughout the night and a boiler was chugging away somewhere too! Breakfast - a few packets of cereals placed on a sideboard in the hallway and some stale chocolate muffins. Tea and coffee in my room. Double bed very lumpy and uncomfortable - I lasted two hours in that before moving to the single bed which was much better.
All of it
Friendliness of staff and good food
Noisey at night - traffic or people outside or music in the bar up too loud
Everything else, a wonderful little pub/hotel
The shower took a while to get going and didn't have anywhere to attach to the wall or hold it up.
Friendly staff, good food and a free pint of milk everyday.
This is a charming old village hotel. The beams were salvaged from the Spanish Armada. It's very lovely and homey, cheap as chips and just a few miles from Cheltenham and Gloucester. Nice pub too.
Friendly barman who greeted us, nothing seemed to much trouble. Good sized bath in the room we had. Lots of character in the building. Help yourself continental breakfast not for everyone but suited us just fine.
Noisy mini fridge, think proper fridge near breakfast point better idea and usual little cartons of milk in room would be fine, car park could be tidier and exterior decor in need of attention but ladders up at side of building points to this being done.
Staff were very friendly and made you feel at home. We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent and the bed was very comfortable.
The electrics were a bit dodgy and kept cutting out. The kettle and toaster in the room were grubby and the tea bags were in an open dish on the dressing table. The inclusive Continental breakfast was laid out on the landing and had to be collected and brought into the bedroom.
En-Suite clearly DIY job, tiling was so bad & I could not even see in the Mirror as it was so high up, carpet in the bathroom was worn out. You had to run the water in the sink as there was no plug! Room decor very poor, huge Cobweb on the ceiling above one of the beds. Poor breakfast facilities, you had to help your selves then eat it in your room on your bed. Towels supplied inadequate, the tiny fridge for you pint of milk kept us awake most of the night because it was so noisy.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
I would have liked a slightly larger TV.
Very friendly staff, good food.Felt relaxedat the Inn and customers friendly. Some good walks around the village. Would book with the Inn again. It is a very old building and has been nicely decorated. Thoughtful extras on the bath, hair shampoo and body wash, items you do not find in other establishments, nice attention to detail. If you are traveling on your own you will feel welcome here. Loved the place!
Bed was comfortable!
Fridge in the room was too noisy! Louder than a standard fridge!
A good alternative to Ross on Wye. Unlike many chains, provision of tea, coffee etc win the room was very generous.
Working in the locality and looking for a cheap and convenient place to stay overnight. Friendly people, perfectly adequate room, and the price was unbeatable. Yep, noisy plumbing but not a deal breaker, and overall stunning value. The DiY breakfast works fine from my perspective and allows you to hit the road when you want. Pub food & beer very good and pub dog friendly.
Nothing much - if you like mod cons you won't like it.
