The Plough Itchen Abbas is a charming property with a riverside village setting, just 15 minutes’ drive from Winchester. This beautiful inn features a restaurant and bar.

The building - creaky floorboards, sloping floors, furniture and bathroom suite. Ample parking space next to Inn. Choice of ales in the bar. Easy connection to wi-fi. Quiet room even though above bar.
Breakfast - no croissants on day 2 and 3 of stay. Had to ask for orange juice. No coffee refills.
Stayed for one night whilst visiting friends in the area, lovely room with comfiest bed I've ever slept in! Nice clean bathroom! Would definitely stay again on our next visit South!
Food, comfort, staff.
Not bright enough in bedroom and the radiator wasn't on.
Reception especially Helen. Food: atmosphere: quiet!
The lights by the bed were not good. Impossible to read by them. Please put better bedside lights in with decent bulbs.
The warm welcome, open fire, good Beer, wine and food.
Being told breakfast was between 730-830, then reading after we had got up it was till 930....
Friendly, helpful staff. Good menus, especially the breakfast. Historic pub with interesting history.
Such a beautiful room despite the sloping floor!!! Bed was so comfortable and bathroom amazing - all beautifully clean and so spacious! Next time we shall stay longer!
Honestly there was nothing (apart from the sloping floor - and you can't do anything about that!).
Our bedroom was very snug and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent.
The pub is situated on a very busy main road and one was aware of the traffic.
Good lighting in bath room. Helpful staff. Excellent blackpudding with breakfast. Room coffee/tea very good.
Dim lights in main room. Only one bed-side table. No self toasting facilities. At breakfast no help yourself coffee. Some of the switches were a mystery to use, if we had been there longer than one day would have needed to find out what they were all about, information, in a booklet perhaps, would have been useful rather than having to hunt out a member of staff. Shower pressure could have been better and instructions to operate it, ie. the tap operated the temperature and a lever the rate of flow.
A lovely country pub in a beautiful little town.
The bedroom was a little cramped.
Excellent location, only 10 miles from Winchester. Staff were really pleasant and helpful. We had two evening meals and three breakfasts, and the food couldn't be faulted, everything cooked fresh. Our room was fantastic, even included bathrobes (haven't had one of those with a room for a number of years!) plenty of tea, coffee and even bottled water provided in the room. The room we booked was really spacious and remarkably quiet considering it was above a busy bar and overlooked the road through the village. We usually stay at major chain hotels but our short visit to the Crown has convinced us to widen our horizons, we look forward to a return visit in the future. As a footnote Bishops Waltham is well worth a look around. Definitely Recommended
To be really picky, the floor creaked a lot when walking around, especially in the middle of the night, but I guess you have to expect this at 200+ years old inns. To be fair though this did not in any way detract from the fabulous visit we enjoyed at the Crown.
Proximity to family who live nearby but don't have room for me to stay.
No breakfast included in the price. Expensive just for a bed!
Well kept pub, with a good outside area. The staff were really nice. We had 2 puppies with us that we're treated as one of the family. Good Dinner and Breakfast. We paid for an upgraded room, and it was fabulous. All very vintage, and most interesting. Such a change from "Chain hotels". Even the squeaky floorboard seemed in keeping. This was really a great place to stay.
There is nothing to dislike
Love the bathrooms, and the beds are comfy and welcoming, with excellent bed linen and towels
Friendly helpful staff. Character of the building
Staff deserve 10 out of 10. The best thing about The Crown Inn is the excellent interior throughout - genuine historical/heritage ambience.
Slightly intrusive background mechanical noises from fans/kitchen apparatus. But not a deterrent to staying again.
Nice pub, good location, comfy beds, clean
Expensive room charge for the size of room, no breakfast included, high price of breakfast (£12 per head!), accommodation starting to look shabby, some staff did not appear very welcoming
Well refurbished low beam Inn with a Battle of Trafalgar theme. Our room was attractive and lovely new bathroom. The morning manager John was very friendly, helpful and smiling.
Unlike B&B's or guest houses that are run by owners, this was clearly a business and lacked attention to detail. The night manager appeared to be having a bad day and understaffed. Several small details all adding up to a disappointing stay, no TV remote, wifi not working, two lamps not working and no book of guest instructions. Also the breakfast was basic but adequate lacking any fruit or soy milk as requested.
Central location, beautiful room, lovely breakfast.
Evening meal was average, not value for money
Friendly staff, excellent restaurant and located in lovely village and very clean.
Room a bit noisy one night as wedding party in hotel and noise from bar area but otherwise facilities very good
The room was lovely, not large but decorated to a very high standard, shower and bathroom lovely. Had a full refit 2 years ago and they did an amazing job. The village is very pretty, old and quaint.
Its in the middle of a very busy junction, that was the only negative point
Beautiful rooms and food was amazing!
It's above a pub and our room was above the kitchens so lots of banging and crashing which made it difficult to get the little one to sleep. Once asleep though didn't hear anything and beds were very comfy.
The bar area was very nice as was the outside sitting area. The rooms were well appointed clean and comfortable.
The bins being emptied early in the morning by the refuse lorries.
Immaculately clean, high quality room build. Excellent shower.
Room was a little small.
