Beautiful rooms and food was amazing!
It's above a pub and our room was above the kitchens so lots of banging and crashing which made it difficult to get the little one to sleep. Once asleep though didn't hear anything and beds were very comfy.
The bar area was very nice as was the outside sitting area. The rooms were well appointed clean and comfortable.
The bins being emptied early in the morning by the refuse lorries.
Immaculately clean, high quality room build. Excellent shower.
Room was a little small.
Our room was spotless. The shower was powerful and the room was peaceful.
bumped head on some beams, over the centuries folks have grown taller.... not a serious detraction
The rooms are wonderful. They are decorated to a very high standard and with lots of character. I slept like a Queen in a huge four poster bed. It was a real treat to stay here.
No bath mat had to use a towel to stop slipping in the shower
A quaint but busy village which was very handy for an overnight stop on the way to the ferry. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in, with lovely pillows and nice bedding. Lovely big walk in shower. Staff very pleasant.
Decor looks a bit shabby in places, there was some mould in a corner of the shower cubicle and rather than supply tissues they had hidden the dispenser in a cupboard - minor points, but not good for the price of the room. Also, in spite of the lovely bed, I was kept awake by the fan in the bathroom, which never switched off. A bit expensive for what was, essentially, a pub with bedrooms.
Close to town Easy parking
The location was perfect for me visiting family in bishops waltham, I usually have to stay on Portsmouth which is still quite a drive away. I was surprised with the size and quality of the room, nicely decorate
I was very happy with my stay so nothing bad!
Staff were excellent and friendly , room was fantastic
Wifi was practically non existent
Lovely historic olde worlde Inn. Great location near Soton Intern. Airport and Southampton, the New Forest and Marwell Zoological Gardens. Bishops Waltham full of history, good small shops. Good breakfast, superb bedroom fittings and comfy beds. Staff very helpful.
Very low beams downstairs we called 'ducks'. My husband is tall. Bedrooms are fine.
Such a splendid bathroom!. Bed superb. Room lovely and quiet (it was midweek). Easy to find. Just what we wanted in every way.
Well placed for our return to France via ferry from Portsmouth, a very pleasant ambiance, the staff gave us exceptionally good service and we had a very comfortable room which was quiet despite being near a busyish road. The low price at check out after drinks and a delicious meal the previous night, not to mention a fantastic breakfast (superb coffee!) was also a very pleasant surprise. An absolute gem that we will certainly book again.
Having to leave as we would have loved to stay at least another night!
Decor of room very in keeping with the age of the property. Very impressive shower and toiletery needs. Food at breakfast well cooked and hot. Liked having bottle of water with the tea making facilities. Useful when one has to take pills
Although there were books relating to the history of Bishops Waltham we could not find a general instruction sheet regarding times of breakfast etc or anything relating to the history of the property. We were given a few instructions re.emergencies during the night etc. Useful to have it in the room.
Spacious room & bathroom. Excellent chef going by the wonderful food and fab breakfast! A delighful young man who was front of house for breakfast and check out; was professional, friendly but not imposing.
Due to the heat and no fans/air con the windows had to be open and the noise from the nearby bus stop, cashpoint, take away was relentless.
The room was excellent, quirky and comfortable. The bathroom was superb.Staff were great and the food and beer were great. We will stay again next time we are at Goodwood.
nothing at all
Great location very good food and wonderful service, what you would expect as a quintessential English hotel, impressed with everything!!!!!!!
Were not prepared for a gluten free guest although informed at time of booking, used our own bread for one breakfast then it could not be found for the next so service held up while someone raced out to buy a loaf, small criticism though.
Nice food, comfortable bed, helpful staff. Next to a busy roundabut but the noise in room 2 was muted and didnt disturb me at all.
Characterful room, lush decorations & great breakfast yum.
Nice old English pub with good food and rooms. Loads of interesting history.
Smoking on the restaurant patio. Outside eating area should be 'no smoking'.
I liked the staff. All very accommodating and helpful.
Room was tatty. Marks on walls, chips in walls. Ensuite door wouldn't shut at all. Rooms are in dire need of refurbishment. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and lumpy. Unable to sleep well.
Character building, lovely room with sloping floor and creaking floorboards- did not spoil the stay. Staff were good even though very busy, can't agree with negative comments read on the internet. Large car park was full when we arrived, so they are obviously doing things right- hence so busy.
Could only stay one night
Staff helpful.good location.
Evening menu very ordinary, but breakfast good.
The price for the following week. Half the lights in the room did not work
