We booked into The Crown for a weekend break and were delighted with our choice. The hotel has querky decor, friendly and we enjoyed a superb breakfast.only disappointment was the small portion my partner received (steamed fish) compared to mine (braised beef) at dinner.
the Crown hotel holds some precious memories for myself and my partner, the staff are very friendly and make you feel at home in this well run establishment! our stay there always makes our visits to beautiful Stamford memorable!
the new decor and diner style of the new restaurant is very quirky and well designed but it wasnt to our taste but none the less the foodsis great and service excellent
Breakfast and comfortable bed
I hit my head on the low ceiling in room 19.reception didn't seem bothered when I told them
The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful and polite. The bar area very very nice the group I was with had planned to go out once we were rady but spent a couple of hours in the bar as the atmosphere so so welcoming.
I stayed in a room in a different building and while it was clean and warm you did feel detached and had to cross the court yeard if you wabt anything,
I liked everything about this hotel, staff are very attentive polite and professional. The room was stunning, we didn't want to leave it, decor, comfy 4 poster bed, roll top bath. It felt very homely. And the location is great with just a stroll and your in the town center./
No negatives really apart from parking is tight and it's not the cheapest, but I'd still say its worth the money.
getting over charged
Nice small hotel in perfect venue. Eat in hotel for good value with excellent service.
Lovely big room well decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent , lots of choice, fresh pineapple which was yummy. Very good quality bacon. The bar is quirky , especially liked the 'jam jar' light fittings, The town of Stamford feels cosy even on a dull day because the brickwork on many of the buildings is mellow yellow ! Friendly helpful staff.
Wasn't too keen on the bath being in the bedroom in front of the large window (spoilt the view I felt) -prefer my bathing to be done in private! Curtains and bedding were beautiful but the lovely large bed was a bit too soft for me (I know that's just a personal preference not a criticism). Would definitely stay at the Crown again.
Location, Enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast. Very convenient parking.
This hotel has everything going for it - location in the centre of town, décor, charm, a really good breakfast.
If you are looking for a peaceful night's sleep, choose your room very carefully. Our first night was interrupted by vibrating repetitive music from a wedding party till 12, followed by someone watching TV at full volume to 4 in the morning. The second night was disturbed by loud music from the Perriwig pub (owned by the hotel) till 2 in the morning.
Great value for money - I secured a late deal online-£70 room which included 4 poster bed , lovely roll top bath, desk and seating. very spacious and charming. Breakfast included. Lots of choice and very tasty. I liked little touches like fresh yogurt in individual small glass jars. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of old world charm in this hotel with a great central location and free car park on site. I would definitely stay agin,
Traffic noise outside at times, but given the central location this was to be expected and not a real problem. Neon jukebox in breakfast room otherwise old and charming.
A very comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff.
Bed, shower, breakfast were all fantastic.
Price. Size of room.
the up grades they have done worked well, the lounge area is great and the new seating in the bar works well. real shame my braised beef was rock hard and cold! but the free bottle of wine we got as a sorry was nice!
Just a bit disappointing that you could not use the bar area due to a private function they were holding. We were not made aware of this before we arrived, it was lucky we were going out or we would of had to stay in our room - not very pleasant for a guest on New Years Eve!
We checked in very late. Not a problem. We fancied a nightcp. No problem. We forgot toothpaste. No problem. We wanted numerous cups of tea in the morning in fresh cups. Not a problem. Thoroughly well looked after by friendly, helpful staff. Great location.
Our room next to an alley way with a kebab shop and there was a fight in the early hours on Saturday night, but it didn't really disturb us too much. It can be the Price you pay for a top central location.
Staff & Food were super.
Original "higher grade" room was spoilt by the noise of the kitchen extractor fan so we had to downgrade to a smaller room.
Pleasant room on the second floor with a lovely view of the Christmas lights in Red Lion Square.
The space in the car park is limited. The plumbing in the ensuite was not working very well. The basin drained extremely slowly and the toilet did not flush very well.
Location (right next to excellent market and shopping). Staff were brilliant and I would not hesitate to stay again when visiting the beautiful Stanford.
Was a bit nervous about entering and departing car park but soon got a hang of the automatic gates!!!
Central location. Building with character. Excellent breakfast.
Narrow steep stairs to room but in keeping with the old building.
Good food spacious rooms and great location
Mattress made us feel we were sliding towards edge
Value, ease of parking, quality
Great breakfast, comfy beds, overall a pleasant stay and handy location with shops and restaurants virtually on the doorstep
The staff were lovely, they smiled and were very helpful which is rare these days, I will be back :)
Lovely big bedroom comfy bed nice setting for breakfast staff excellent lovely position for shops
Bathroom not very practical as to position of shower door in relation to other door also bathroom ceiling tiles nosiey and unfixed
