Check in time was quite late at 3pm but we worked around this. Breakfast 7 to 9am may have been nice if it had ran until 10am, although chech out was by 10am,

The Croxdale is basic but I found it clean, comfortable and good value for its low rate. The food was good (better than I expected if I'm honest) and the staff were friendly. All in all, for the price, I had absolutely no complaints and would recommend.

We were very disappointed cracked hand basin toilet hanging off the wall musty smell in main areas poor presentation at breakfast and dust and cobwebs in the bedrooms

Very frindly staff, good sized clean room, excellent evening meal from a good menu (hunter's chicken), good full english breakfast. Hotel set in beautiful country-side yet just a 5 minute drive to historic town centre. All in all highly recomended. Also free wi-fi enabling me to keep in touch with office.

This inn was in very poor condition. The cleanliness of room unsatisfactory. COULD DO WITH A GOOD MAKEOVER. WOULD NOT RETURN. PAID £110.00 FOR 2 NIGHTS IN A ROOM NOT FIT FOR HABITATION. WAS ASKED TO PAY UPFRONT, AND CAN UNDERSTAND WHY AS WE WOULD NOTHAVE PAID IF WE HAD SEEN ROOM BEFOREHAND. NORMALLY YOU PAY AFTER YOU HAVE STAYED FOR ALLOTED TIME.

Bathroom was clean and tidy with efficient shower.

Bedroom could do with a refurb, nowhere to hang anything, chest of drawers falling to pieces, room felt damp.

The food, staff and location are excellent. The Croxdale provided me with exactly what I expected for accomodation and exceeded mt expectations for food. Cannot fault this accomodation at all for £35 per night! The choice on the menu was fantastic, portions huge and the quality of the home cooked produce was excellent

My room needs a refurb in all honesty, but as I've said at £35 you cannot go wrong. I was told that the whole hotel is getting refurbished but this cannot happen overnight and is done in stages. Book this place if you want friendly staff, great food and value.

The breakfasts were good.

Nowhere to hang anything in the room. The soup that I ordered one evening was only tepid and I had to ask for it to be heated.

Very friendly staff

Nice comfy bed. Quiet room and not overlooked. . Great restaurant with a good menu. A bus stop opposite the hotel so you can easily get into Durham without a car.

Breakfast could be served later on a Sunday maybe until 10.

Dreadful awfull squat little room no dressing table,shelves,bedside table,no wardrobe (a rail) tv did not work,light broken over the sink.Shower not cleaned out. No soap to sink. Food at breakfast was uneatable, two black poached eggs,refused,plus full english breakfast,only the beans were eatable. As we had to pay for the two nights in advance,we could not get out quick enough.We managed to cancel our second night and get a credit. We went out of the room once and the door spring came away pulling the architrave and wall paper with it.

In process if renovating, room extremly cold would not use it in winter. No lager ... Food plentifull and reasonable cost. I used to use this hotel a few years ago, it was top class. Given time the new owners will bring it back to what it was. Staff very helpful.

The rooms we stayed in (room No. 5) was towards the street and extremely noisy. The carpets were badly stained, the bathroom had a used bar of soap and a dirty shower.

Friendly, clean, helpful staff

The staff were very friendly and informative. The meals were of good quality ,generouse helpings and a good veriety. I dare anyone to finish the 32 ounce steak with trimmings. You are very close to Durham for trips and getting there is easy. The Proprieters have not taken this enstablishment for very long after it had been shut for 2yrs and have done very well for a work in progress.
