A really nice family run place and was really warm and inviting. Great value for money. Was a little further out of the Durham City Centre than what we were lead to believe.Shot out of bed at about 1.15am as the fire alarm went off - it was excruciatingly loud and lasted for what seemed like a very long time! Apparently another guest decided to smoke in their room! Dinner was good but dessert seemed like it was re-heated in a microwave. |

The staff were absolutely first class, couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was comfortable and pleasant. Although the room was nice, a little attention to detail could have made it completely outstanding. |

I only met two very young members of staff. They were pleasant and cheerful, but not particularly effective. The room (Room 10) looked like something from a 60s/70s time warp. It was clean, but basic and unimaginative. The television could only pick up BBC1, and that through a snowstorm! The shower turned itself off every couple of seconds. When I went to find breakfast, I could not find a way in to the main building - no-one had told me where the dining room was or how to get to it when the pub was not open. |

The friendliness of the staff. Good food with reasonable menu. The room furniture was inadequate. One chair for a room with a double bed! But they did give us another one. The bathroom was small and inadequately "furnished": no proper towel rail, no soap rack in the shower, no shelf for our possessions, and the toilet roll was very inconveniently placed. The bedroom needed a shelf or piece of furniture where we could put our belongings. |

It was convenient for Durham. Its simplicity and fine for a solo traveller. Would have prefered a room on the back to escape the fast car noise in the middle of the night! |

The staff were friendly The room was quite cold and the ensuite was very cold, due to the fact that there is no heating in the bathroom and a ceiling tile was dislodged. |

The hotel was in a quiet village just a few miles from Durham with good bus access, daytime and evening. In addition to breakfast, meals were available lunchtime and evening. The hotel was a good budget hotel, ideal for solo travellers and business people. |
