Atmosphere and staff were lovely
Poor lighting in the corridors especially where our room was 204 and also the floors creak terribly so we could here next too and above us.
Great staff with a friendly service in a good location opposite the Band stand. Having read a few adverse reports I must admit I'm pleased to say I found them to be unfounded in my experience. The view out to sea from the dinning room is good and as the Hotel is currently being refurbished - it will be a good place to stay in future. However it will take a fair bit of investment to complete.
Okay a few little niggles too. We stayed in room 108 which is okay. However the Bath is too small and the fixing for the shower is likely to fall off some time very soon. Although clean, the bathroom was to say "a little in need of some tlc." Also the room is over the bins at the back of the hotel. Which the staff promptly emptied bottles into. QUITE NOISY for a few seconds early in the morning. Its also the "hang out" for staff having a cigarette or two which would waft through the window from time to time. It would be nice to have a self service breakfast too - rather than lining up School style to be "rationed,"in choice one piece of Bacon ,one sausage etc!
Location was good, breakfast was good even though we were seated for over 15 mins before anyone tended to us for tea etc.
The hotel was very noisy with a wedding and a party and a guy playing music in the bar area,The bar staff had no wine glasses the bar was very busy and i had to stand for over 25 mins to get served not very good for residents. We were at the back off the hotel the music went onto until around 12.30pm then the crashing off bottles started with drink bottles getting thrown out into bins so if your looking for a hotel that you will get a sleep in avoid this one like the plague!!
Staff, cleanliness, food etc all really good ! We were only staying for one night so only had bed and breakfast. Great location along the sea front.
Our bedroom was clean but needed a good coat of paint and modernising. Furniture scratched and chipped, carpet and curtains dark colours quite depressing.
Excellent position on Grand Parade.
The smallest room I have ever stayed in. The shower room would be impossible for a old couple with the wash basin partially built into the side walls meaning that you couldn't lift your arms. The shower head was loose and you had to squeeze past the loo to get in! Canteen style breakfast which was tepid at best.
sea view, good food, clean rooms, helpful staff, lift
no freeview on tv (only channels 1-5), corridors were a bit tatty, parking on street
The breakfast was very good, staff friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and made up quickly and efficiently.
The whole hotel was very hot. Windows in room only open slightly and window in very small bathroom not at all. The heat in bathroom was unbearable. The room was rather tired, visible rust emanating from radiator. Carpets needed cleaning. Floorboards very creaky and noisy.
A bit dated interior
To expensive some room need update they say that they will take payment on arrival but all amount was taken early morning!
The staff were helpful but overworked.
The hotel is tacky - furniture scuffed and paint flaked off in bathroom and any repairs were quite unbelievably poor. The hotel needs a complete makeover. The hotel is opposite a band stand which had live pop music first night and we thought we going away for a nice quiet weekend! We would not stay again.
the personal service, nothing was too much trouble, lovely breakfast, great location.
creaking floorboards, entertainment, only one lift for four persons.
The staff were friendly and attentive, the breakfast was very good, nice location if you can get a sea view even better
Rooms and linen etc were very old fashioned and thin walls, with squeaky floor boards everywhere you go, however I have heard that some rooms have been done up but ours wasn't one of them.
It is in a good location.
The rooms were very tired and the bed very uncomfortable. Expensive for what it offered.
Reception staff were fantastic they couldn't do enough foryou
Food selection very poor my wife is a veg.etarian she had either eggs or vege sausages the wi_first signal was non existant
View and Location
Beds Dirty Bath Dirty Windows / Sills Shower Loose on Wall TV to Small Floors very Creeky VERY Breakfast Served from Counter / Very Unfriendly server. Large Pot by lift full of rubbish not been cleaned for months. Very unhappy Chappy.
The relaxed atmosphere at the hotel where the staff were lovely and friendly and were well able to assist with our needs. The location was great where you could relax and enjoy a drink and the view was fantastic. At night time the area was quiet although there was a bit of noise from other hotels, but our hotel was ideal. The breakfast was plentiful and service once again excellent
We were towards the back of the hotel and the view was terrible 4th floor.
lunch time food uneatable,4 meals were sent back after waiting 45 minutes. when pointed out to the manageress she argued there was nothing wrong with the food. four people can,t be wrong what a waste of £28.
The room we had was very nice with lovely views.
Our original room was not very nice and not the slandered I would expect for the money we paid.
Lovely situation on Eastbourne seafront - our room overlooked the sea. Staff friendly and helpful.
The birthday party that went on till one o'clock in the morning. The constant bass was enough to make you want to be somewhere else - anywhere else! (Our room was situated on the first floor above the ball-room).
We asked for disabled equipment in the bathroom. This was ideal for my daughter's needs.
The disabled access into the hotel is poor. On the lower level of the hotel in the hot storage areas with difficult turns for a large wheelchair and very small space in the lift. I had to wheel my daughter backwards up the very steep slope! Also there is no disabled access at the front of the hotel on The Grand Parade.
No hot water at all, had to move roomS, still no hot water,
The night bar man was very helpful. Nice sea view.
The chairs in the bedroom were stained. The shower was a dribble. the furniture was antiquated and falling apart. No shelter for smokers apart from the umbrella the bar man lent us.we asked for a fan for the bedroom which blew no air out. the breakfast was poor.
Staff efficiency, politeness and helpful attitude
Noise and crowding in restaurant from coach party guests
