I selected this hotel based on the rate because I travelled through the Wessex and just needed the place to stay for one night. When you select the lowest rate hotel you are prepared to sacrifice some quality. For 30 pounds for single occupation I actually got the double room. I usually picky on the cleanness of the bath room. This one was excellent. Hotel is in the front line overlooking the sea. Good value for money! |

My partner and I stayed at the Cumberland for a long weekend[18th-21st Sept 2009] When we arrived,we were met with a smile, and our paperwork was ready for us.As we had booked late,we were very happy that we had been given a seaview room overlooking the bandstand. The pier is only a couple of hundred yards along the beach, and the town was close. The dining room, food and service was excellent,as was our short stay. Will go again Squeaky floorboards, and furniture in the bedroom was showing signs of old age, but so am I. |

the hotel was in a good central location we were on the 4th floor, so it took over 1 hour to run a bath, which if you are anything over 4ft tall you are curled up like a ball whilst having a bath, also they dont mention that youare just over the road from the bandstand which has alot going on in the eveings, saturday the noise went on till well after 11. |

Hotel was friendly, facilities were decent and room was well kept/cleaned. Hotel was noisy. It is an old hotel, the windows are wooden so any sea-front activities will be heard in the rooms. Floorboards were extremely loose and noisy from the room above and in the room itself. |

I enjoyed the breakfast. The interior of the hotel was very nice, the room was great value. Me and my 5 year old daughter stayed for £40 a night which I thought was great value. I would definitely stay again. |

The staff were extremely friendly , helpful and welcoming. The position of the hotel on the seafront was excellent. The furniture and carpets were in need of updating and the maintenance around the hotel was disappointing. |

The breakfast was very good and we stayed for 3 nights on B/B basis but on the second and third mornings the hotel staff could not identify a table that was meant to be ours. 50p parking was a bonus. The hotel was in a good position for most things. We had room 309 which was at the rear of the hotel and the dustbins!! Very noisey - hopefully we will have a sea view next time. |

Good view over the bandstand from our bedroom window. The staff did the best they could. The hotel was quite shabby. The first room we were given was at the rear and looked over the wheelie bins, hence we complained and were given another room overlooking the sea. It is unlikely we would stay at this hotel again. |

Friendly Reception staff, lovely lounge and restaurant and good value for money. Obviously as expected paying a cheaper rate we had a back room which although overlooking a lovely garden, however if i had not been tired after a wedding Reception the night before the peacock and cockerel would have woken me early. |
