Anne and James were fantastic hosts, who made us feel very welcome. It was a ten minute walk into town and opposite the station. They had a restaurant and a bar, the breakfast was very good.
Our bathroom could have had a little updating, but was practical with a large shower.
shower and bathrooms were showing signs of mold
I selected this hotel while working in the area. The location was reasonable for where I needed to be.
The room was cold, the water was cold. The bedding and room were not clean; I would even go so far as to say that they were very dirty. This is far from what I would expect. I work throughout the uk and stay at hotels every week; this is one of the worse I have ever stayed in. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
bed was comfy, breakfast was good, people very pleasant.
hotel was too busy for us, not with people but with furniture, too many sofas, chairs coffee tables etc. Wall paper and curtains need updating, far too flowery.
Very poor, an old and tired building with no character. We have received much better value for money in a standard B&B - at half the price of the Cumberland! Winding our way from reception to the main staircase was like creeping through a residential care home! Not impressed to see dog poo in the reception while the owners were sleeping in the front of the tv at the end of the night.
The staff are very friendly and the rooms are pleasant and comfortable.
The shower didn't work
It was clean.
restaurant served poor quality frozen food that was overpriced.Chips were charged as an extra yet they were served on the dinner plate and there were not many of them. Hotel is very dated and shabby. Breakfast consisted of one piece of toast, one rasher, one sausage, one egg overcooked and a small amount of beans. Had no hot water for shower and had to hold shower head as it did not sit in the holder properly. Bedside light did not work.
receptionist brilliant, friendly and could not do enough for you. Despite very old décor the place was very clean and very comfortable, really a very nice place to stay.
Décor very very tired
Patterned decor overpowering
Service poor. Took ages for staff to do anything!! Cleanliness left lot to be desired. Felt like I needed another shower once I'd left. Booking.com definitely makes the place look better than is. I nearly died when I saw it
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, food good.good facilities.
Untidy car park, main entrance outside full of litter. No one cleaned this area in the 48 hours we were there and is probably not part of the routine daily tasks. This is first impressions for any visitor and should be priority but totally ignored.
Proprietors very friendly and ameable.
bar and lounge area
limited greasy breakfast
Bar/Restaurant shut on weekend.
Staff were very considerate and helpful.
Creaking floorboards. Would have liked Cumberland sausage for breakfast!!!!!!!!!!
Breakfast warm, toast like a dish cloth.Tables slow being cleared.Didn't have a choice of where to sit at breakfast. Confusion over which rooms we were to have.
Above average comfort and value
Too much floral print in the breakfast room !!
Friendly staff, parking. Good breakfast.
Booking.com booking not received by hotel
