Rooms were big with lovely views. Walking distance to Grasemere & clean. Only suitable for adults
Children can not use the pool. No child menu, or anything for children to eat for dinner. No selection for vegetarians and only suitable for adults.
Fantastic location. Big comfortable rooms that were well appointed and a view of the lake. The spa was a fine place to while away a wet afternoon. Food good, too.
The ambience was vaguely impersonal, but I can get used to that and I would happily return
The room was very spacious with lots of nice little touches. The spa was also very nice and very quiet when we visited. Breakfast was superb with lots of choice for vegetarians. Dinner in the restaurant was also top notch. We paid an extra £20 for late check out (12:30pm) which I thought was reasonable and well worth it. Lots of people have mentioned the lack of 'Lake District' inside the hotel, but I think the location speaks for itself on that front (right on Grasmere Lake Shore), you only have to look out of the window! I also really liked the Artwork displayed around the hotel and thought it gave it a unique, quirky quality, not taking itself too seriously and making guests feel welcome. I will certainly be back.
What is not to like?
Stayed in this hotel for four days. The room (329) overlooked the lake which constantly changed dependant upon the weather. The room was comfortable, warm and quiet. The bath was big and deep enough to really soak and relax. The staff were a joy since nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely return and plan to do so soon.
The lighting in the room was a little dark with the LED lights taking time to "warm up"
We have just returned from a two night stay and can't wait to return. The quality of the hotel and facility's are first class. The staff where very polite and plentiful. Nothing was to much trouble. The food for both breakfast and evening meal was excellent. If your looking just for a base or you want Spa facility's this will take some beating in the Lakes
Their is no negative
The SPECTACULAR views from the terrace.
The fact that we were unable to have dinner on the first evening of our stay. We were informed that the restaurant was fully booked but were not told at reception that we could have chosen from the same menu in the bar.
It must be unique to be able sit in a luxurious room and watch the weather roll over the fells on which you were walking a short time before. It is everything I would want from a quality hotel - but then the locatioon beats the rest!
Raz the barman was fantastic he catered for all our drinks and was so polite and effecient and so was matt ! All the staff were a pleasure but them two in perticular really topped our visit off!
Very nice meal in the restaurant on the Saturday night. Great art work, interesting and well done. Hotel was clean. Beds very comfortable and spacious. Good breakfast.b Good facilities for the disabled Pleasant Spa.
It's quite expensive and £5 for room service seemed a little excessive. There was also a bit of a language barrier as for many staff English was not their 1st language so you often had to double check they understood you.
Spa treatment and general facilities very high standard
food & drink quite expensive
fantastic room and food amazing
location good shower
10am opening of the Spa-too late non refundable £10 charge for robes open showering in changing rooms extra charge at breakfast pressured staff at breakfast - not the most relaxing atmosphere phoning the room re check out-surely this is an outdated practice in the hotel industry-remember the customer should come first-doesn't seem to quite come up to the mark
Loved the location!
Check out was between 7-11am, however if you paid an extra £20 you could check out at 12:30? Most hotels will check you out finishing at noon!
Polite and helpful staff. Excellent service. Great breakfast.
Inside the hotel decor is a bit anonymous. Could be anywhere. You wouldn't know you were in the Lake District.
A really stylish hotel in superb location overlooking the lake. Rooms were beautiful and very stylish as was the bathroom. Tea and coffee etc provided. Wifi great. Breakfast was very good too.
Portions small in the dining room for dinner.
The room was lovely and our bed was so comfortable the best nights sleep I've had for a very long time. Spa was perfect after a long day walking we will def be returning.
Breakfast excellent range but the hot food was only tepid and when I ordered porridge this too was not hot/warm.
fab room overlooking lake Grasmere very helpful staff good spa
a little bit impersonal décor and odd reception area lacks a bit of soul
surroundings, hotel, excellent food, polite staff.food was superb cooked and presented to perfection.facilities second to none clean modern rooms, excellent spa
The hotel overall was excellent. The staff, very attentive and friendly were a credit to the hotel.
clean, breakfast was ok.
room not heated on arrival and did not heat up for 4h after enabled. told heating not on due to energy saving. sink blocked, bathroom light broken, shower floods bathroom floor, dark room horrible view onto roof and old neglected building. too expensive.
The location and the helpfulness of the staff
Having to leave early as my wife was not well after picking up some bug before we arrived
The room had good views and very big comfortable bed(queen size) Liked the ground coffee supplied and varieties of tea. Hotel very clean and staff friendly, polite and efficient. Loved the paintings on display around corridors and restaurant,
Enjoyed the spa but not big enough for a swim Would have apprecIated the toiletries being replenished on the 2nd day
the staff was excellent and the food was very good at reasonable prices
I thought there might have been a gym for those rainy days and possibly more evening entertainment.
The location was perfect for a getaway break giving us a short walk into the village.
The jacuzzi set up was disappointing being in the large pool.
