The Derby Arms

It was a beautiful building with lovely rooms. Tghe manager was an excellent host as were the staff. I can recommend it highlty enough and it was great value for money.

Really old pub that was full of character and has a fabulous location surrounded by countryside

The staff were very young and inexperienced making service very slow and lacking and intuition. The plumbing is really noisy due to the age of the building which means when anyone in another room turns a tap on everyone knows about it!

The accommodation was very comfortable and spacious. Food was excellent quality and value for money

Nice country pub atmosphere. Good bar, good food, nice room, lovely staff. Liked the idea that dogs were welcome; dog biscuits available at the bar. Thank you for a nice stay.

My commitments only allowed me to stay one day!

Stayed for a friday night, room was great, we had a shower room and it was big and the shower was excellent, plenty of hot water. Had a great meal, nice to see plenty of locals coming and going and their dogs! Very friendly atmosphere and would definately return.

Break fast was good, nice ham and cheese, but they where running out of bread, had to wait for coffee, perhaps a pot on the go in the breakfast room would help. Having said that after the meal the previous nights meal we where more than happy with the continental option.

Very welcoming with great rooms and very clean. Evening meal was fantastic and a very nice continental breakfast. They are very dog friendly for both accomodation and within the bar area. Good size car park and ideal location for day trips out and about. We will definatley be returning if requiring accomodation in the area again.

Very nice room, tastefully decorated with very comfortable bed. Had everything we needed. In a good position for access to the Lakes while not being in the centre of it all. Quite a busy pub (at least at the weekend), frequented more by locals than tourists. There was a degree of noise from the bar below the room, but this didn't bother us as you would expect this when you stay in a pub. Would stay again.

When we first arrived there was no heat in the room. I think this was an oversight, which was rectified when we mentioned it. Ideally the room should be warm on arrival in the middle of November!

It had the biggest bed and soo comfortable,the room was spacious, shower was powerful and hot We were made very welcome by manager Adam we didnt eat here as we had made other arrangements but their food smelt soo good will try nxt time we go. Lovely continental breakfast you just help yourself .

I was particularly impressed by the menu and the room itself which was very olde worldy with an excellent modern en suite

Thursday night is quiz night at the pub and the noise of the quiz master through the microphone carried very clearly up to the bedroom above.

The seating in the bar was very worn and need some attention. The seats were a bit uncomfortable. We also were surprised to have a continental breakfast, we have stayed in many pubs over the the past 23 years in the Lake District and have always been given a cooked breakfast it is something they usually pride themselves on. When we checked out we saw an A board outside advertising full english breakfast served here £6.50.

the room was excellent and beautiful and clean. the entertainment on the saturday night was really good.
