Location convenient. Staff friendly. Restaurant very comfortable - elegant but cosy.
Sky Channels on TV. Tea pot and biscuits! Desk in room and armchair.
Difficulty with dining within half hour of closing as staff wanted to prepare for breakfast. Overpriced breakfast
Relaxed friendly atmosphere, even when checking in near midnight.
The carriages resturant is very good quality and worth the extra expense. Fan provided in room and powerful shower.
The hotel is not what the pictures show. This is a pvc classes building next door with small rooms and low quality. Wallpaper hanging from the ceiling and a table a chairs stolen of the resturant shuffed in a corner outside by the building work. Road noise is very loud and can disturb sleep.
Food quality, and good well trained staff
Free and available parking space. Good staff and reasonable room rates.
Rooms are small with the hotel mainly catering for the wedding and meeting business.
Friendliness of staff and convenient location of hotel. Room was clean and comfortable with good facilities. Excellent meal in restaurant again good value for money.
Traffic noise from main road
Staff as always so helpful and friendly cannot do enough to make you welcome
Excellent and popular hotel. Staff always helpful, even when busy
Bedroom was very hot at night even with radiator turned off
The staff were excellent, very helpful, the restaurant was great, enjoyed all their meals and our room was very peaceful.
Nothing to report
Staff helpful. Concierge spotted us arriving late and rushed round to help us in.
Self serve breakfast. Food was good with lots of choice but think it would be hotter cooked to order. Understand this method is more effective in low season.
Room comfortable Service good Food good Range of drinks good
My family and I have stayed here many times over the years en route to Cornwall. Small but spotless rooms. Recent Sky HD is very welcome. Excellent menu, portion size and quality in Carriages restaurant. Friendly and welcoming staff who obviously enjoy working at the Devon hotel as I see each time. Yes there is traffic noise from the nearby road and roundabout but not a bother to me. Look forward to seeing the new extension when completed
Room 24 difficulty getting good wifi signal.
Room. Except bathroom which was good. Flower pots on pathway a danger to pass (we were in room 33) needed to access restaurant my wife is walking disabled. The restaurant was very nice but was located in a separate building. Was shown to our table ordered drinks before sitting down waited 10 minutes before they came. Food very poor quality, made staff aware that the carvery vegetables were very dry supposedly changed but have my doubts. Did not enjoy. Breakfast was better. Overall found that we stayed in a prefab/motel building not Hotel. Overall very disappointed in my choice of Hotel., I had the opportunity to stay at any other Hotel in the area but opted for The Devon Hotel, my mistake.
Food was excellent throughout. Staff attentive and friendly.
Bed on the soft side!
We were made to feel welcome by the staff and even the general manager worked in the restaurant and 'meeted and greeted' the customers. Terrific service.
Because of the new building work parking was a 'bit' of a problem alongside white vans etc. This will resolve itself when the building is completed. I am looking forward to the gym on future visits.
The location which was central but not too full of traffic. We both enjoyed the meals in the restaurant which had a varied menu. The rooms were comfortable and had plenty of storage. Also the cost was very reasonable.
I don't think there was anything we did not like.
The food and drink were good. The bed was comfy and the room quiet.
Having stayed here before I was disappointed with Room 19 as the wash basin was in the bedroom and not in the bathroom. This is unsatisfactory from a sanitary point of view. The room should be updated.
The food, accommodation, staff.
The hotel was in a good location on the SW outskirts of Exeter' The breakfast facilities in the restaurant building were good
The hotels website images fail to disclose that the accommodation is not in the restaurant building and is instead in a poorly constructed two storey building to the west. Access to the rooms is somewhat tortuous with steps up and down from a first floor corridor. While there is convenient parking outside the accommodation it was (in early October 2014) shared with vehicles associated with the construction of a further block. The rooms were small with inadequate circulation space and wardrobes.
everything......we keep going back
It was friendly without being matey. Food was excellent value. Staff were always helpful and polite.
The building works but that's just our tough luck.
Good breakfast. Easy access to Exeter by car.
Poor sound insulation from the road noise and creaky floor upstairs.
-The bed was very comfortable. -Free TV was enjoyable. -The bathroom was very clean and well presented. -The staff were very polite. -The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of choices. -The tea/coffee making facilities were very efficient.
-I was able to connect to the free wifi but unfortunately my partner could not. -We could hear two males talking next door but we understand that cannot be helped.
